Sonny’s Nails and Spa

Worst nail place ever. Sonny did not listen to what I said and trimmed nails way too short and did not to the right shape. Within 3 days four of my nails broke off complete waste of money I am furious this place is garbage !!! I got a full at my usual place and they are continuing to break off because of the previous horrible quality from sonny nails. I have wasted almost $ 200 on 2 sets of new nails and repairs everyday within the past 2 weeks!

I’m from Delaware and found myself looking for a salon. Very happy with the experience at Sonny’s. If I am still in the area will come here again.

I came here because I saw the amazing reviews on Unilocal.It was my first time going. made an appointment. However when I walked in they didn’t even bother to recognize me and even say hello so I sat there and told someone (a male) that I had and appointment. He said okay and just took his customer and just ignored me… lets just say I ended up walking out and going somewhere else. Huge disappointed I’m. Not going to spend money where I’m not wanted.

I decided to get my nails soaked and get a full set again. I had made an appointment with Kim because she was the person I went to last time but when I arrived Tu greeted me and asked what I was getting. I told him I wanted to see Kim however Kim wasn’t in yet so I asked him if he can do my nails. He had an appointment coming in but told me he would still take me and he did. I have to say I’m super pleased with my nails and his service. I think I would prefer to go to him from now on. I can’t stop looking at my pretty nails.

When it comes to manis and pedis I’m always loyal to nail salons when their work is consistently on point and their prices can’t be beat. So I was sad to find out the salon I was going to in Kearny closed without notice.
A friend told me about Sonny’s so I checked it out. I was not disappointed.
Consistency — CHECK! $ 25 Gel Manicures — CHECK!
As others have noted, if you don’t make an appointment you will be waiting. SO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. And just a heads up, even if you make an appointment, you are still going to wait. I had an appointment for 4:30 and waited over half an hour until my appointment began. Additionally she was simultaneously giving a manicure to another client. For this reason, I cannot give a full 5 star review.
I keep it simple with polishes/​designs however I’ve seen what this establishment can do and they do a great job with intricate and creative styles and are always willing to reproduce a design if you bring in a picture.
They have A TON of gel colors and also do gel pedicures which is a first that I’ve seen in any salon.
Park across the street in the K Mart parking lot.

Sonny’s is a good nail spot when you consider their pricing for quality of service: $ 20 for a gel manicure and $ 15 for a regular pedicure is an amazing deal. They have all the popular names — Essie, Shellac, OPI — as well as some lesser-​known brands. They are located at the corner directly across from Kmart’s lot. That’s where I ended up parking my car.
They use the electric filer instead of manually filing away the top layer of gel manicures. This makes it faster, but it is not uncommon to feel high levels of heat because of this. The staff are mostly concerned with just getting the job done and don’t make time for small chit-​chat. I messed up my pinky toe at one point and it annoyed the lady, but at least she helped me fix it.
I was pretty happy with the turnout of my gel mani and pedicure. Their interior can be a bit of an eyesore, but that’s more of a preference thing, imo. And $ 35 for this combo is hard to beat.
