My little one has been going here for at least three years. The school has a team of caring and positive caregivers who do a great job engaging the children and keeping them safe. It is Christian based, and there is a lot of biblical basics that go into the core curriculum, however, it’s goodness and light and worship. There isn’t a lot of dogma teachings or things that are strictly Lutheran. As a Catholic, I find this a great supplement to what I can provide my daughter at home. The kids have organized activity most days, which prepares them for school. During the summer, the kids in the elementary level get to have a focused ‘daycamp’ complete with field trips and fun! My daughter is now in the elementary room, and does great there. I work from home most days, and still choose to send my child here on those days, because at the center she gets engaging play far beyond what I can provide sitting at my computer all day. The staff is caring and kind and involved. They run a tight ship, and the security of the building is near the best I’ve seen.(the door has a key-card access, and each corridor has a pass-code entry that changes every few months or so. There is a ‘big room’ that is normally the chapel, but the chairs are all stowed away and the kids can get their wiggles out there, during inclement weather, complete with large toys. There are a couple closed playgrounds, with sufficient well built equipment and a safe play surface(Wood chips) I’d recommend this center to anyone.

Open Arms is an excellent place for childcare services. From little babies through pre-school. It is a Christian based school — so not everyone’s ideals are going to align with that focus. Beyond that — I can’t imagine a better daycare. That is the honest truth. I’m more spiritual vs. hugely religious — and I’m certainly not squeaky clean as a person. But, I’ve never felt offended here. It is a very welcome environment. The teachers have a deep caring for the children and desire to help them learn and grow. There are many activities for the children that provide education beyond just occupying /babysitting your child. Outside of the day to day functions — Open Arms has fun activities like visits from public service(e.g. fire, police, etc.), a day with a petting zoo, activities and visits from High Velocity for motor activities — among many others that I could list. They help a lot in important milestones in your child’s life — example– potty training(and provide support and enhanced program to help through this time). They do teach about Christianity as a foundation to activities — but it is not something you feel is being rammed down you when you walk in, speak to staff, or as an overall environment. It is balance between teaching and morals vs. your own belief habits. There is regular communication, meetings, etc. — on your child’s progress and letting you know how your child is doing each day /through the year. The children all seem to have a strong bond with the teachers — who are credentialed. Through my own experiences I have witnessed firsthand the cattle call daycares and places that simply want to babysit for 7 – 8 hours and get your money. Not providing an ounce of growth and learning for your child. Open Arms is certainly a childcare center that puts your son or daughter first.
