Nick and Vito’s

We really wanted to love it here based on all the reviews. They were teaching people how to make our sandwiches when we went there, and we kinda wish the person *doing* the teaching had made our sandwiches instead– sadly they tasted like they were made by someone who had never made a sandwich before. We might need to give them another chance, perhaps they were having an off day, because it took an eternity to get our food. The spicy German mustard and sauerkraut are very good.

This is an incredible find! I have to credit Unilocal with this find. This is a little divey hole in the wall that makes the best deli sandwiches. I mean seriously there are 3 tables and red and black tiles.
They have some coolers with what looks like ingredients (eggs, milk, a few deli salads). Not really a retail space per Se.
But looking at the menu I chose the hot pastrami with Swiss on rye With a bunch of veggies. I also got a ski soda and the homemade chips.
It took a while for the order to be completed, because they meticulously put the sandwich together. It looked like it was from a cover photo shoot for St. Louis mag. There was a dollop of dueseldorf mustard served on the side. It was the perfect condiment for the sandwich. Seriously, I have had wet dreams that were not this good as the sandwich looked and tasted.
Also the chips were hot and fresh cooked. They were well made and rivaled the sandwich for best item on the table.
The ski was literally the icing on the cake.
I was was the only customer when I first came in at 1130ish. By noon they were packed. They have a fast arriving crowd. I was really impressed.
On a return visit I have to try the critter burger. Another diner ordered it and it looked and smelled incredible.
The roast beef likewise looked amazing.
If you find yourself in west Belleville this place is definitely worth the time!

Just had the best roast beef of my life. Been around the area for years and finally stopped in. Total hole in the wall deli. Premium pastrami. Premium MEATS. This place is good.
Décor is extremely off-​putting but who cares. It’s all about that food, baby.
Apparently their meat loaf sandwich is a knock out as well.

My wife and I had Reuben sandwiches and home made chips. Awesome! My wife could only eat half her sandwich. It was a lot of food. If you want a great sandwich for lunch. This is the place to go!

Best deli and place for lunch in town. He does his own pastrami and fried turkey for fresh deli sandwiches that are incredible! Fries fish on Fridays and does his own fresh potato chips as a side — Lays have nothing on these chips ! What a find !

The power of Unilocal has worked again! What a find. One of the best, if not the best burger, i have ever had. Everyone is so super nice. They make their own burgers on if the benefits of being a deli. If your in the area check this place out!

Everything a brick and mortar should be. Super friendly staff, unique items you can only get there, and great prices and quality.
I can get the meat I’ll use for the week to feed my family and lunch on a Saturday. My favorite is the Hot Salami & Pepperoni sandwich. Be sure to grab some homemade chips and an Excel bottled soda from the cooler.

Stopped in Nick and Vito’s after reading an article in the BND, and boy, what a treat! We didn’t get the deli meat because we were runnning errands, but tried a half slab of their BBQ Ribs and they were «DELISH!» We did no sauce, although they ask if you’d like sauce or not. The ribs were very lean, and meaty seasoned and barbecued perfectly to compliment the flavor of the pork, and fell off the bone. I really like to support local places that are great! «YUMMY!»

Wow! This place really knows how to treat a customer. The sandwiches are fantastic and so fresh. I had a hot turkey with bacon and I can honestly say it was the best sandwich I’ve ever had. The owners are so great to deal with and are so respectful and nice. I cannot wait to come back and eat there again. Homemade corned beef and roast beef and fresh cut chips. Love it here and plan on coming back many more times!
