Fun Spot is an award-winning roller-skating rink that’s wonderful for kids. It’s been around for decades, but the owners have really kept the place up, and it’s a wonderful place to go when you’ve got some young ones who need to burn some energy while pop music’s blaring. Be sure to check the schedule before heading over, because Fun Spot has fairly erratic hours. Some nights include pizza and soda with admission; others include specials like the bouncy castle for the little kids. There’s even an adults-only night on Sundays. Personally, I think Fun Spot’s a little bit pricey for a family. Admission and skate rental can run you close to $ 8 – 10 per person for what amounts to 3 – 4 hours of skating. On the other hand, that’s not much different from what you pay to go to the movie theater, so I suppose it’s not so bad. Weekends are probably the worst time to go because of the high volume of birthday parties. They seem to really cram them in, and I’ve heard parents complain that they’ll have too many parties scheduled on a single day. Considering the handful of birthday party options in the area, it makes sense that Fun Spot is so busy, but it does make the place a little bit less fun to go to if you’re just hoping to get some roller skating in. One thing I do dislike is that inline skates cost $ 4 for rental, compared to $ 2 for quad skates. In this day and age, it seems a little silly to charge twice as much for a pair of rollerblades.
