Wholesome basic food in a Americana settings. Nothing fancy night«infused» but I would challenge you to find a more awesome place to sit down, slow down and enjoy!

Love this place! DELICIOUS coffee and fresh pastries(different every time you come in)! Quiet atmosphere, free wifi. Great place to sit and relax or read or do work. Lattes and iced coffee are my favorite drinks. The Andes Scones and baked oatmeal with steamed milk are my favorite treats! Plus, 10% discount with student ID!

I was torn between the peanut butter cup latte and the pumpkin spice latte. The delightfully pleasant staff told me to go with the pumpkin. I did. It was excellent. The lunch special was an egg salad wrap. It had bacon and spinach, and it came with a wedge of watermelon and a bag of chips. It was a delicious lunch. Oh, they were also cool with me having my young son and my chihuahua(in her crate by the entrance) with me.

Found this place on Unilocal, the closest coffee shop along the way from our hotel in Du Bois to our home in CT. The owner was very nice, the coffee and latte’s were very good and the breakfast sandwich(egg, bacon and cheese on an english muffin) and quiche were home made and delicious.

Just driving through and stopped in. An employee held the door for us. We were greeted with a genuine smile and the coffee is delicious!!! I was even able to get soy milk with my iced coffee. The décor is cute and it seems like a nice chill place to just relax and sip your coffee or tea. Nice employees, nice place. Thanks, guys!

A pretty-decent small town coffee shop. It was a good pick-me-up driving around State College and Middle-of-Nowhere, PA; but it’s nothing that would get 4 or 5 stars from me coffee-wise. The space is a kindof-cool lower level shop along a hilly main street. The main area is bright and open with smallish tables. The second room was darker, but decently lit with people working/studying throughout the room. The coffee wasn’t bad, but pumped out of the same carafes that are in every office and church I’ve been in. The ones that tend to get funky just about always. Coffee here was slightly fresher than I was expecting out of it(which was nice), but it was apparent that it wasn’t the freshest pot. The Cortado/Cortadito my wife got was — as someone who lives within walking distance of at least 3 Cuba/Puerto Rican cafes — distinctly not one. I honestly don’t remember which, but it was either missing the requisite milk or sugar… but it seemed odd to me for it to be called that without being one. Not nearly as annoying as mislabeling a macchiato(which they get right here), but still not best. We’ll probably stop through at some point again. They we’re very nice and quite friendly, they added the extra ingredient when I expressed my confusion and laughed it off. I always feel bad about being a little harsh on these smaller-town shops. They’re a gem for the area, I’m sure, but I want travelers to know what to expect when they stop in – which they should, because you’re probably not going to find anything better without going down into State College or Harrisburg.

I stopped in today for something different as I’ve never been here. I was pleasantly surprised. The décor was nice and atmosphere was nice. They had a taco wrap special for lunch which was excellent. I had a cold sweet tea which wasn’t bad. It was flavored strawberry mango and it was flavored too strong, in my opinion. Otherwise, everything was great. I can’t wait to come back.

Back at the turn of the centuryCool Beans was my first coffee shop, and the standard by which I judge all others. Great coffee, great live music(Toph and Ben), great times with my sister, and a blank book of poetry by random visitors. Best memories ever.

Very cool little place. Very friendly people and nice menu of breakfast/lunch items along with the coffee. Standard coffee/espresso drinks and also some fun flavors(like their«candy bar» line of lattes). Not the best pulled shots of espresso we’ve ever had, but still very good. «Latte of the day» was made from coffee out of a plastic jug one day. For real espresso??? Who knows. Still was tasty, just not sure exactly what went into it. Very nice place to relax, including outdoor patio with chairs/tables.

A quintessential college town coffee shop in a quintessential college town(or at least«close to» college town). Located in a well-appointed, minimally gentrified central PA town/village, this shop offers great coffee, a small selection of sandwiches and smoothies, and the usual sitting room with free wifi where professor-looking types correct the papers being written by the students at the next table over.

SUPER nice. No whole milk for the lattes, but coffee still lovely :) Stopped in for a latté on my way across Pennsylvania and was pleasantly surprised to find they had wi-fi and super comfy chairs and tables, like a giant living room. The staff was also excellent.

I know this review is long delayed, but I stopped into Cool Beans only once and that was on a cold, rainy weekday in March ’08. It was about 1:30PM and soon i was the only patron. But I had the BEST black bean soup I have had in my entire life. Not sure exactly what else I had(probably a sandwich and tea and maybe dessert) but the black bean soup is what i fondly remember. Almost wrote the owner to ask the recipe, because it was probably the only time I’ll get through that area. But if I ever do, a return stop will be a must. Check this place out – I’m sure the coffee is great, but some of the other items are also. You won’t be disappointed.

I stopped in while my husband was on a business trip, so thankful one of the locals suggested it to me. This was a very friendly shop, with AWESOME coffee. I often, when going to a new place ask if there is a house special or if the person behind the counter has something they personally like making(usually I find(if it is something I would normally like) that these items are usually some of the best to ask for). So following my tradition… as asked the gal what she liked to make or if they had a special… she then told me about the«Sugar Daddy». YUMMO! This was a Latte combined with the flavors of hazel nut and Carmel. She warned me it was sweet and that it was, but then again, I really like it that way so I gave the service a 4*, the coffee a 5*, and the atmosphere a 5+. I guess every college town has a coffee shot, I just wish Cool Beans Coffee & Tea was a little closer to where I live!

Solid little coffee spot that does cozy better than just about any other I’ve been to — from the low ceilings to the plush arm chairs, kitchen table-like seating and amazingly friendly lady behind the bar. Extra kudos for offering different roasts(medium, dark, etc.) of the same beans. Having said all that — the real reason you want to go here is the baked oatmeal — not the coffee. Looks like a cake in the pan — they slice off a piece and serve in a bowl with steamed milk. I may seriously make the drive out here from Philly next time it snows if they’ll promise to save some for me when I get there — it’s that good.

Pretty cool atmosphere. Eclectic décor. Maybe a little pricey, but not bad at all. Very friendly staff! We’ll definately stop in next time we’re in town. It’s seems like a quiet, out of the way little place, but it’s good.

Good coffee, great service, free wifi. If I lived around here(and I used to), I’d kill a lot of time here, watching people walk by on the sidewalk from one of the comfy window seats.

The only Coffee shop in Bellefonte. Prices are within what you would expect for the state college area. Selection of loose leaf teas, coffees, lattes, cappuccinos, etc. A few breakfast and lunch food items available. Has a great atmosphere, free Wi-Fi, and free board games to play. Open mic nights and other events. Their website can be found here:
