My husband and I, along with a friend visiting from New England, enjoyed 3 wonderful nights over Memorial Day weekend here and loved everything about it. Jamie warmly welcomed us, gave us some great pointers for dinner spots-about 10 minutes away in Bellaire, and told us to save room because she’d have dessert waiting for us when we returned – this was the case every night! YUM! Our room was cozy, comfortable & immaculate and the little fireplace in our room added some warmth on a cool spring night. Breakfasts in the mornings were phenomenal, as were evenings on the porch watching sunsets and the hummingbirds. The Inn is about 10 minutes from town, 40 minutes from Traverse City — a nice break from the hustle and bustle of life. We’re looking forward to returning on our next visit to «Lower» Michigan.

Location: About 30 minutes from Boyne Mountain, about 10 minutes away from downtown Bellaire. My wife and I stayed two nights at the Inn in the Napa room. It was tastefully appointed, immaculately clean, and absolutely perfect. The room had a faux fireplace, which was nice, and a TV with a VCR. The inn has a large collection of VHS tapes — makes me wonder if they bought out a Blockbuster or something! The inn wifi was very strong and fast enough to stream Hulu without issue. Jamie is the perfect host. She’s thought about everything… we wanted for nothing while we were there. High end toiletries, local newspapers, a wide assortment of teas, amazing homecooked(and gourmet) breakfasts(including eggs from her chickens) and indulgent homemade deserts? Yeah. Find that in a Marriott. It’s a good thing we did so much skiing, otherwise we would have gained weight on this trip! I woke up in the middle of my second night staying at the Inn. I felt so cozy and comfortable in bed, rolled over, and immediately went back to sleep. As someone who spends over 100 nights away from home in a hotel room for work some years, this is a huge deal. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as comfortable, as welcome, and as home? as I did while I was here. Why stay in a shoddy motel or a soulless resort when you could be staying here?! Seriously! 5⁄5 stars… would stay again!

My wife and I stayed two nights in the Richardson room, and let me tell you, it was absolutely perfect. Jamie is the consummate host and does not miss one detail. The room is beautiful, the bed is comfortable, and you don’t hear the other guests. This room is air-conditioned for those hot Michigan summers. There is also wi-fi for those of you who can’t leave work at work and a television with a library of excellent titles. Jamie is also an amazing cook. She prefers to use locally sourced products. Each morning there was a different breakfast. Jamie has a fantastic kitchen and utilizes her culinary acumen. I highly recommend this B&B and would send my family and friends there without hesitation.

I highly recommend Applesauce Inn. We stayed in the Paris room for four days and really enjoyed our stay. The following are my top ten reasons to visit this enjoyable bed and breakfast. 1. Location is a close drive to many different attractions, but thankfully is not directly next to anything. If you decide to stay in for the night it is incredibly quiet, allowing you to truly relax. We did a day trip to Mackinac Island, and were back in time for dinner in Bellaire. Also very close to hiking, including dead mans hill just off of 131. 2. Amazing breakfast provided. If anyone can find a better breakfast meal, restaurant or B&B, I would be shocked. Ricotta crepes, prosciutto egg bake, muffins, and more. Additionally, since the meals are so filling, we saved money by not having to eat lunch during our stay. 3. Short drive to Shorts Brewing. I’ve been to many microbreweries, and this one sticks out. Wider selection that I normally see on tap that are specific to that brewery. I didn’t love everything, but I really enjoy trying so many varieties. The pizza is also good. Jolly Pumpkin is also not that far away, and completely worth the drive. 4. Excellent desserts provided nightly(raspberry filled cupcakes, blueberry pie, etc.). 5. Enjoyable conversation from owners Jamie and Gary, as well as other customers. 6. Chickens. They have over a dozen chickens and one rooster. They are very friendly and a fun to watch when hanging out on the porch. 7. Wrap around porch. Perfect way to relax, either reading a book or just hanging out. 8. Lake access everywhere. As you drive around this area there seem to be a boat launch or public lake access anywhere you drove. There are a variety of opportunities to rent a boat/jetski, go canoeing, or just float down a river. 9. Watch movies in your room. No blu-ray here, but the VHS selection is quality. Perfect for getting away from everyone and relaxing in your room. 10. Rooms are incredibly clean and the beds and pillows make for an incredibly night of sleep. A/C in the rooms just in case it gets hot.
