Wait did the standards change in the food deli where meal is prepared workers had no hair nets gloves. A full beard sweating over the tortillas. Omg I had to turn around and just walked out. Where is the manager or health inspector.

Avoid coming here even tho it’s down the street form my house. A bit over priced, and parking is hell. Iv never had «fun «shopping here. The super market down the street is better .
For some reasons the Mexican customers here are more ghetto and annoying .

My elderly grandmother was verbally assaulted by a mid 40 aged man, customers lack of education and manners. Although the food is provided with good quality but I definitely like avoiding this place.

I usually come here bc I like the quality of food they have. The prep food here is really good, produce is always fresh, and bakery has really good cakes and pan Mexicano, but one thing i really don’t like is the cashiers. They always have that face like I don’t want to work here or simply rude. Like this Sunday the cashier had charged for my things, just left them in the counter, and said have a good day but with an attitude. First of all the food and prices here are expensive and that’s why they have people packing and putting you’re groceries in the basket. Or if the other packing employees were busy she could have been nice and but it in the basket or said it nicely, but what kind of customer services is that. Northgate seriously you need to be on top of your cashiers and make sure they are good to your customers.

I ordered a frozen cake for daughter I liked the design but not the decoration so I put my own. I ordered marble with fresh strawberries and it was so good! Everyone loved it! This is my new place for Cakes

First time I have purchased cooked food here to go. I ordered the barbacoa plate, but when I got home, the employee that did my order didn’t put the refried beans!!! Wtf I… paid $ 6.99 for this??? The rice was a lil undercooked. Would Not Recommend!!! Meat was somewhat ok.

Rarely come here but was in the neighborhood. Lady two people ahead of me had a check to cash. Cashier calls manager who says he can’t cash the check. Waited five minutes. Cashier then says her line is closed. She just stood there doing absolutely nothing, waiting for who the hell knows what for five more minutes. People started changing to the two other long lines but not me. I left my stuff there and left. Never again. Manager should have pulled the not cashing your check people aside instead of writing a new chapter of Waiting for Godot. Never again.

Come here many times for the authentic Mexican, Central American the Latin American flavors the food, music reminds me of Mexico or being in a Latin American country it’s festive I enjoy the wide selection of food from all over Mexico, Central and Latin America if your specialty is cooking Latin American dishes then Northgate markets is the place to be in southeast LA I highly recommend the carniceria with chorizo Salvadorean, puerco and pollo fresco.

You walk into this store and it feels like a nice fun enviroment. They have traditional music on and they sell food to go. The cashiers are friendly and polite. Good place to grocery shop.

I would highly suggest coming here for anything, but groceries. The hot food section keeps getting better and better with plenty of options for any appetite. They have mariscos that are already prepared and plenty of different salad options (chicken salad, macaroni salad, potato, etc.) The carniceria is good too. When you’re going to have a bbq make sure to come get your meat from here. The groceries are expensive, so if you want to save some cash I would suggest going to Food 4 Less on Atlantic and Slauson. Oh, and bring your sleeping bag when you are ready to check out because the lines are super long no matter what day or what time and they move very slow. A lot of people cash their checks here so it slows down the line that much more. They recently opened up a Chase inside the store. Yes, a Chase branch lol. So that is a bonus for those of you that want to do your grocery shopping and banking in the same location haha.

First off, I try to avoid coming to this place as much as possible. why? because every time I do the lines are incredibly long, children running around and it gets extremely packed. Other than that, it’s an okay place to shop, but like the previous reviews have stated, they do have several cashiers open so I guess that’s a plus.
This place has a bakery, meat market and tortilleria… which is very convenient since you can buy pretty much everything all at once. Like Jason has stated, they do have a variety of produce, and for those who can get a little lazy to cook (guilty of that) they also sale cooked food which in my opinion is pretty good. I’ve tried their carnitas (not bad at all) and their chicken is pretty good. Their hot salsa is okay too.

Had a deal that i was redeeming in the store, yet they told me I can’t redeem it because its on my phone, and i must print it out. Darn! Never had this issue before from other places! Unilocal would not present the deal if i must print it out to use it.

Nice market. It gets pretty crowded at times. The best thing about it is the wide selection of produce and that they usually have plenty of cashier open at checkout so you don’t have to wait in line very long.

The only reason this place isn’t getting five stars is because it’s a crappy market. I would not go here to buy groceries.
However, their cooked food is good. This is where all the kids and teachers from my school go to pick up lunch. It’s also where a lot of locals go to pick up food. They have really good conchas in their rather large pastry section (I like the pink ones better, even though they all sort of taste the same). Also, their chicken plate is real tasty. Their potato wedges are addictive (although I swear they gave me food poisoning once — I still eat them), their salsas are tasty (and some spicy), and their carnitas are delicious.
Because there is such a high demand for their cooked food, they are always cooking! This means that everything is pretty much fresh daily!
