Delicious all around menu! Try the Chicharito tacos(tacos de barbacoa) and of course their tortas which seemed to have shrunk over the year. But overall delicious

Today I went to have lunch there for the first an LASTTIME!!! Horrible customer service and food!!! When I ordered my torta I asked the gentleman if I can have avocado and he said no, he didn’t bother explaining to me that this meal consist of broth and my torta was swimming in it. Over all it was pricey and not worth it!!! I wouldnt give this place a star but that is the lowest you can give a place.

Few people realize just how good Tortas Ahogadas GDL really is! As good as Guadalajara no joke! The tortas ahogadas are stuffed with carnitas and refried beans and drowned or ahogadas in tomato salsa and really hot chile. If you are a fan of really hot food come here! They are like a Mexican French Dip. The bread here is made especially for them since tortada ahogada bread should be able to keep its form even though it is drowned in salsa. The antojitos are really good too. My mother really likes the tostadas de cueritos and taquitos de papa and so do I! They seriously blow away La Minerva in Pico Rivera and really blow away La Chiva Loca in Downey! I have had tortas ahogadas outside of the Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara and these GDL tortas really come close to the originals! I have been coming to GDL since at least 2006 when CHIVAS won the Mexican soccer tournament and they had a smaller location on Florence and the quality of the food has NOT gone down. The food is so good that they were able to move to a bigger location on Eastern pretty quickly. The old location on Florence was very small. Sadly it seems the new location has hurt the business since it is tucked away in a new strip mall with lots of closed shops around it. A cool thing about the old days on Florence was their wall of client pictures. I was on it! They never put them up again in the Eastern location though sadly. Part of the charm of Tortas GDL is that it is full of CHIVAS memorabilia and there is a little CHIVA gear shop in here too! I am a big fan of CHIVAS so I really appreciate this. There are also lots of pictures of Guadalajara itself. Also part of the charm of GDL is that the owner himself is frequently here and he actually says Hi and shakes my hand every time I go! He is this courteous to other clients as well. The ladies that work here are very nice too! I am satisfied with everything here! Oh, and by the way, GDL stands for Guadalajara.

This Is a very authentic delicious mouth burning tear jerking damn torta Ahogadas! The meat was packed on and the chile was muy fuego. I wish I lived closer, that’s about my only complaint.

I’ll admit mexican food is probably my least favorite to eat, specially at restaurants, but my dad wanted to come here anyway for a dinner. The inside was pretty nice, and well decorated for a mexican place, so i’ll give it that. I ordered 3 tacos de asada, and a side of nachos, and my dad ordered the torta ahogada de pollo. The tacos were pretty good, i just hate how they’re so small, and cost like $ 1.50 each! but whatever. The nachos were a lot, i couldn’t eat the 3 tacos and the nachos cause i got full halfway through them. What i didn’t like the most was the NOFREE/REDUCED REFILLS. The drinks were hardcore overpriced. Horchata was like 2.50 for a medium cup, and you HAVETO get a refill when you’re eating spicy stuff, but it costs the same to get a refill than ordering the drink, it’s gay –__– Our waitress lady kept asking us how we were doing and if everything was good every 5 minutes lol, like i get it that you’re supposed to be asking and everything, but tone it down! lol My dad said the bread was hard on the torta, and he didn’t feel the authentic mexican taste. So it was eh i guess. 3 stars cause i didn’t hate it or anything, but it didn’t amaze me, or even get me to want to come back…

Best Tortas ahogadas. I’m a huge Chivas fan, so I loved the decorations. I literally sat there for 15 minutes staring at the vintage team photos.

So I’ve been to La Minerva in Pico Rivera and it’s good! I’ve been to La Chiva Loca in Downey and it’s also good! BUT Tortas Ahogadas GDL in Bell Gardens takes it when it comes TRUE Authentic«Antojitos» from Guadalajara! From the décor, the vibe/ambiance and of course the food is very authentic. My favorite is «Lonche de Pierna con Panela Ahogada»… Wow it is orgasmic! Now let’s talk about their Customer Service… Keep in mind I’m a regular here and their Customer Service is a hit and miss. At times we have very friendly people wait on us and there’s 1 or 2 peeps there that are not that friendly but again, their food totally makes up for it! The food is always freshly made and busy or not they never take too long to come out with the food. Everything on their menu is good! I recomend this place. I would of gave this place 5 stars if it wasn’t for their inconsistent attention to customer service.

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff… food was so so. I had the Chicken Enchiladas and Jaimica. The enchiladas were on the plain side no real seasoning. I added some salsa I spruce them up a little but it still lacked something. Well I will give this place another try and post an update but for now it was just OKAY.
