Tacos Don Chente

I continually make the mistake hoping the food will get better here. In my mind I want them to be good but the food just is not delicious! I ordered enmoladas and what do I get, three tortillas encasing globs of thick hard to eat cheese. The mole sauce was tasteless and non existent. The food is just terrible. I also ordered potato flautas. What do I get? Deep fried oily tortillas rolled around tasteless potatoes which seem to be box made because there wasn’t any texture or seasoning, just a watery mush. I threw away my whole order. Now, I must spend more money on a dinner that doesn’t disappoint. I will never come back to this place.

Bad!!! Don’t come here. Great service but food was bad old rice, cold meats in burrito and on tortas… just plain bad

First of all we made a mistake by not driving a little further and going to el Gavilán… Or anywhere else… Even jack in the box lol the menu does not have prices so after me and my sister ordered and we got a bill for 18.00 for 5 tacos and 1 «donchente» (which wasn’t great it was literally a huge taco with a sprinkle of cotija cheese… I at least expected some melted cheese !!!) taco it was way overpriced. We got our tacos with literally 6 chips on each plate and the salsa containers not even big enough to dip your chip in. I must say the very moment me and my sister saw the food we felt like walking out. But we decided to give it a try. Which at the end, we will not be coming back! Horrible place!!!

It has been awhile. My bought a couple tortas for the family, my brother requested i go here because of the torta Cubana. I ordered iit in ahead of time. When i got there they thought I’d said chorizo. The blonde woman there, I’m assuming the manager, was very nice and made me the Cubana and said to keep the chorizo torta regardless, free of charge, since they’d have to throw it out anyway.

DO NOT EAT HERE! The menus do not have prices so that should have been my first red flag. I called in and spoke to the manager to ask for prices on certain items. We ordered over the phone and a co-​worker picked it up and we ate. When it was time to settle the bill, everything was charged separately, which of course, would overcharge us. I immediately called the manager and let him know that we were overcharged for our meals. His answer…“I never said that”. After trying to reason with this guy, he refused to admit what he said and I gave up on the attempt to retrieve the $ we were overcharged. I’m still in shock that a manager would not try to make a customer happy especially for something like this and especially since we eat there so often. I will never go back and I’m spreading the word. If you do decide to eat here, which you shouldn’t, BEWARE! Hit Taqueria Los Altos, El Picante or El Pescador if you want a good meal and don’t want to be ripped off.

The customer service is ok. The food was not good sadly I had the chile verde plate, my son the carnitas tacos and my hubby tacos de asada and al pastor. None were something we’d like to come to. The place does look clean though. Oh I did like that the agua fresca de piña wasn’t real sweet. It was actually just right.

Bad service and tasteless food.
I hate it when I frequent an establishment and the cashier tries to rush me. That itself should of been a sign to leave. But I opted in trying this place out.
I ordered the taquitos dish. My order arrived warm and looked decent, but when I tried a taquito it was tasteless. They either don’t know how to season their meat or they don’t believe in seasoning their dishes.
There is also a mixed sense in whether or not this place has waiter service. I mean, they bring you your food to your table but will not follow up with you. Plus they give you wrapped up plastic eating utensils, giving me the impression that the food is meant to go, or a fast food place.
Then to make things awkward there was a group of drunks sitting behind me just talking trashy and just disrespectful to others sitting around.
Yea, I will not be returning to this place; first and last time.

I’ll let yall know I worked here. The food is alright. But they arnt so clean. All the Aguas frescas are made out of their tap water. The dishes and utensils they «wash» them by dipping them in the same dirty water where all the leftover food is in. And then they dry them with the a paper towel to look clean. They don’t wear gloves! If you order chips or tortilla they grab them without gloves & the waitresses will also touch your food if the cook messed up your food by mistake they try to «fix» it with no gloves! After seeing how dirty they are I stopped eating here and quit.

Its very delicious here. I absolutely LOVE there Chilakiles verdes. Red ones are good too. But my favorite is green. Dinner is good too. Its delicious, plate is full of food and price is extremely cheap! I definitely recommend! :)

Horrible sopa de Res. Most of the vegetables were hard, and that’s to say the least. The soup itself had nothing both more fat, than meat. When asked for «more meat, less fat» I get another plate of fat. Definitely not coming back here. Wouldn’t recommend for anyone wanting a soup on a winter day.

Food was bad. Service horrible walked by our table several times never wouldn’t give us a chance to ask for refills. I got a Huarache it was fried it tasted like the just dipped in sauce there was hardly any meat. My mom order taqittos plate she got her food 10 minutes after we received our and the rice was hard.. When the lady who took our order came over to finally check on us she told us it wasn’t her fault the food was bad it was the cooks so blame them. I am not ever going back.

Pretty good Mexican fare. Been here a couple times. Never really full. Place is usually clean. Food is served pretty fast. Prices are very reasonable.

Lazy service. You have to add the onions, cilandro, etc on. your own food so basically you get plane food, i have ordered pozole and it didn’t really have flavor. on top of that you have to get. up and get all the other stuff yourself (lemons, onion, etc). The food is not that bad though that’s why I’m giving 3 stars also the cleaning lady i. forgot her name she is so nice!

I can only speak for the Caldo De Res plate. One of the worst soups I’ve had. The squash and cabbage were still hard which is one of the softer foods when it’s cooked together they way it’s supposed to. I really look forward to these soups in the winter. I have to agree with one of the other reviewers, the soup was phenomenal at other Don Chente locations. Last time I’ll eat at this location.

Would have given this place a 5 star if it wasn’t for the mediocre service but the food is really good and fair priced! There Machaca burritos are the best!

This has to be my least preferred of the «Tacos Don Chente» franchise. They do not offer many of the specials offered in other don chente’s. The food I ordered, and served to me, was not at all like the one in the picture. I returned it and it was reorder & re-​served but still was not like what I expected. I believe, that if a restaurant is using the same name& possible franchise, that the food quality and appearance should be very similar to all those restaurants. Not that satisfied with this place… prefer the HP and Downey locations.

I had been wanting to try this place out for a couple of years now. Every time I’ve visited California, I hadn’t been able to make it happen and I finally did.
Food is inexpensive, tacos are $ 1.25, I was very surprised. I’m used to paying double. The tacos themselves were pretty good, but I was disappointed to see that they don’t automatically add the cilantro and onions themselves. I guess you have to ask when you place your order. I placed my order to go so I didn’t feel like driving back just for that.
They have a variety of salsas here, the norm that you would find at any taco restaurant. Huge plus was the avocado salsa they had, it was yummy. They store was clean, food came out quickly, and cashiers were friendly. I will have to stop by again my next trip to sample more of their food.

I’ve been here for many years and let me just say the quality of the food keeps getting worse every time I come while the prices are going up. Yesterday I went around 9 pm and I bought a torta. As I was paying I realized they had raised the price by about $ 1.50, that made the cost of the torta above $ 8. I think $ 8 is a lot to pay for a torta but I don’t really mind as long as the torta is good. You’d think that if they’re charging more the quality of the food is better or at least the same, but no. The food was horrible, and definitely not worth the $ 8, it’s not even worth half of that. The meat was flavorless and dry. Nothing about the torta was appetizing, not even the bread, it looked old. The avocado was horrible, don’t even get me started, so I’ll just post a picture of it.
The service is not good either, the cashier is very unfriendly and even rolled her eyes at me when I was ordering. Also they regularly make mistakes on my order. Even though it says the correct order on the receipt, it’s end up not getting what I asked for.
If you’re in the area, I would recommend going elsewhere. The food is not worth what you’re going to pay. I will not be coming back here, I rather go to King Taco or Taco Boy.

I visit this restaurant about twice a month, and I really like it. The prices are not the cheapest, but their food is good and the customer service is good! It’s a typical chain style restaurant.
The restaurant is medium size and the seats are a little worn, but the food is worth it!
