VERY very nice State Park. The beach at Harrington is breathtaking and wonderful around twilight. Campsites are nice and good sized. Also Quarry Lake is great for fishing! Lots of bass.

Harrington is one of the closest state parks to us so we visit it more then any other. Located just outside of Belgium Wisconsin on Lake Michigans shore. The park has a fishing pond, quarry, wooded trails and lake access. Our favorite part of this park is the quarry. The road leading up to the quarry has several historical spots to stop and signage to read. There are building remains and old photographs of the quarry and surrounding area to see. There is a foot path that goes around the quarry with breathtaking views of railroad tussle remains under water, a small waterfall when the creek bed is full and a fishing pier. Being a quarry there are sections that require parental supervision of you are taking young ones. There are a few drop off areas that will make you a little nervous of you fear heights or water. The quarry does not allow boats or swimming. But this is a fishing sanctuary. We see people fishing there all the time and actually catching fish! The wooded trail has both historical finds and wildlife galore. We have seen deer close up and turkeys too. The beach access is sandy and goes quiete a ways in both directions. We see folks swimming and just relaxing on the beach when we visit. There are several picnic areas at this park with built in grills. Harrington is a place to spend the day or spend an hour. Either way you won’t be disappointed. During summer they have a shuttle that runs from the parking lot and also camping.

We absolutely love Harrington Beach at any time of the year. It is never too crowded, we can bring the dog or leave him at home, and we appreciate how clean it is. For the most part, people keep to themselves and you can find parking. Lots of options; from biking to hiking to swimming and camping and grilling, no matter your outdoor adventure you’ll find a spot to enjoy. Bathrooms and Porto-potties, concession stand, outdoor grills, paved and not-paved trails, even truck with trailer that drives folks to a number of destinations along the lake.

This is a Harrington Beach winter review. Lovely spot for a hike, snowshoe or ski. Check into one of the Friend’s of Harrington Beach’s candlelight night hike/ski. The quarry trail is lined with tiki torches and the welcome center offers soup, chili and baked goods for a donation. Great winter event!

For a quick day-trip out of the confines of Milwaukee, drive a half hour north to the beautiful Harrington Beach State park. You’ll find a beautiful little park with serene views and a fascinating history. This Christmas, my family and myself headed to this little state park in Belgium, Wi to do some winter hiking. After arriving, we were taken back by the gorgeous Lake Michigan views. The park is slightly elevated, so the lake is off in the distance and the surrounding area is a mix of farm and forest land. Very beautiful and truly unique to Wisconsin. The park itself entails a fascinating history of once being a tiny village that subsided on mining limestone. The quarry is still there, but filled in with water. The foundations for ancients bunkhouses and other structures can still be found around the woods, making for some really interesting hiking. The trails are of great quality and your bound to see some wildlife, as we ran across a pack of scarily tame deer. They must have known that hunting season was long gone! The lake proximity and incredible beach frontage would probably make this a hot spot in the summer. I am sure that it’s pretty packed come July. A great park that really allows you to get back to nature without having to travel too far. Highly recommended!
