Not really a restaurant per say but it is probably the best and freshest lobster I have ever had in my life. Fresh from the boat to the tanks, this is the spot to grab lunch or a bunch of lobsters to take home and cook. Fresh and great.

I completed my bucket list of the best fresh lobster and seafood I have ever had. I traveled from Hawaii and found this amazing eatery on Unilocal!Tears of pure gratitude and joyfulness in this beautiful place and Belfast in Maine.

This place is so great! Delicious fresh seafood cooked right in front of you! Not a tourist trap at all, which is rare in that neck of the woods. We were very pleased and will be back when its warmer and we can sit outside overlooking the bay! The oysters Rockefeller were absolutely delicious and I highly recommend them and the lobster roll was full of delicious claw meat which is my favorite as opposed to the tail meat which I fond too rubbery.

We got the bucket for two and the lobster stew. The lobster was good but the clams and mussels were not eatable… way too salty + sandy and the stew was basically thin cream with overcooked floatting lobster bits… They were also a little cheap with napkins, handing only 1 at a time – and we all know that eating lobster is a messy business. We might just have been unlucky according to the raving reviews I heard and read but it wasn’t definitely one of the worst lobster stands experience I’ve had…

Worst clam chowder I’ve ever had. Two clams and a few potatoes floating in greasy milk for $ 4.50. Lobster roll was bland and underwhelming on a cold dry bun. Scenery was nice, but didn’t make up for the bad food and crappy service. Plus the restrooms were terrible. We really got ripped off here. Maybe our mistake was ordering something other than just lobster. Regardless, if all you’re looking for is fresh seafood you could do better. This is, after all, Maine. There are lobster shacks on every corner.

This is the real deal! Tanks full of lobster and a variety of other seafood items. We hit it just right — twin 1 ¼ lobsters for $ 24.99! Freshest ever. Plus a shrimp cocktail with HUGE shrimp — the best we ever had. This is our second visit to this place and we will never go back to Maine without making a point to stop and have a meal at Young’s. Brought our own wine and sat out at the picnic tables as the sun set. A real Maine experience! Not to be missed.

Lobster rolls are made from frozen then thawed lobster meat! Great place for buying uncooked seafood, not worth eatting at.

By far the number one place to go in Maine. Cheap, delicious, and beautiful view! Highly recommend again and again

This is mainly(or should I say Maine-ly…haaaa) a store that sells bulk seafood, but they also offer made to order entrees and can cook any bulk seafood you buy. We stopped by in the late afternoon after some frantic Unilocal searches revealed our mistake of not stopping for lunch earlier in the day. Pretty much every lobster shack/restaurant along the coast was closed and the few that were open were expensive tourist traps. Enter Young’s Lobster pound, which had much longer hours than most other places. This establishment is located right on the water with great views of a small harbor at their outside deck and an open but airy indoor seating area upstairs if it’s windy/cold out. I tried their lobster roll for $ 15 and was pretty satisfied. It came with a HUGE portion of lobster meat(mix of tail and claw) on a hamburger bun with lettuce and tomatoes and a side of pickles and Cape Cod chips. I definitely wish the bun was toasted and buttered but it was just a plain ol sesame bun. The lobster was fresh, juicy, and tender and cooked very simply, which is how I like it. Do note that the roll is served with cold meat. I also tried my husband’s «two lobster tail plate»($ 22) which came with two freshly steamed lobster tails split down the middle and served with liquid butter and lemon slices. These were delicious since the lobster was so fresh but I’d rather cook my own lobster for cheaper. Unfortunately cups do cost money so bring your own water bottle or buy a soda or bottled water at the counter. Very clean bathroom outside. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

Never miss having a delicious lobster or two from Young’s when I’m visiting Belfast — so good!

Nothing says Maine like fresh lobster! My bf surprised me with this awesome spot on our way back from Nova Scotia. Lovely gem right on the water, very jealous of those who get to patronize this place in warmer weather. The staff were very friendly, the man helping us pick our lobster even let me hold the doomed creature lol the prices were good too. We got two for about $ 60. We’re from NY. No way in hell we’d end up paying just $ 40 for a 4 pound monster of a lobster! Ha! Days later I’m still tasting that first bite, I thought I had fresh lobster before but man was I wrong! They were cooked perfectly and the claws and tails were even cracked for us. I should’ve known that we were in for a great meal, when I saw my bf come back with a huge cardboard box even though it was too cold to eat inside and we ended up eating in the back of our car, it will always be a memory I cherish. I highly recommend this place! P.s there’s an adorable bull mastiff roaming around, she is very friendly!

Fantastic find. They are right on the water and get lobsters directly from the fisherman’s boats. They have a bunch of lobsters in a bin and you get to pick the one you want and pay by the pound. They even let us hold ours before they cooked it. Not dirt cheap but also not too expensive.

You can’t get any fresher lobster and clams unless you are boiling them in the ocean with scuba gear on. Skip the chowder and bring your own alcohol. The deck on a beautiful day is magical, as you watch the boats unload what you are about to eat.

We had a great experience at Young’s. Amanda, the owners daughter, patiently answered our many questions, and we came away with an education on the life cycle of a lobster, as well as a huge meal that we took back to our beach bungalow. The sautéed lobster and lobster stew ended up being way more than we could possibly eat. Gobs of succulent lobster meat.

Can’t get any fresher seafood than this! We ordered the lobster & clams and a lobster roll — everything tasted divine. The view, atmosphere and service were no muss, no fuss and I loved it!

Fresh lobster ripped right out of the coast is what I miss most since I moved to the midwest(oh and my family and friends are a close second ;]). I was so excited to slurp down my favorite sea creatures when I flew back to New England recently. Here’s what you do: 1) byob 2) place your order at the counter, menu is written above it 3) set-up your table outside by the water 4) pickup and pay for your food when your number is called 5) attack the shellfish like a rabid beast We ordered twin lobster dinner(two lobsters + chips for ~$ 30 total), two pounds of steamers, and a cup of lobster stew. The lobster stew — friggin LOADED with lobster meat! It is a great value for the amount of lobster you get, and it’s in a light bisque that is not overpowering. The steamers — my only complaint is that they were not served with the hot cleaning broth that I am used to at other lobster pounds. But they weren’t very gritty, and were of course naturally sweet and savory ahhhh. The lobster were pre-cracked in all of the right places, making for efficient breakdown without needing tools. I freaking dissemble lobsters like it’s my job, while my boyfriend struggles turning the lobster every which way. But hey, the sooner I eat mine, the less time he has to even LOOK at my serving! Like all lobster pounds, the establishment is basic, because the amazing seafood deserves all of your focus and appreciation. Service was super nice at the counter, though it is overall self-serve(per usual as well).

Delicious lobster, friendly staff, beautiful views… this is a great place to stop for lobster on your way to Bar Harbor! My boyfriend ordered grill fish and found it a little dry. Recommendation is to stick with seafood. Clams were also delicious!

I came to this amazing seafood place with my wife for an early dinner. Since this place is BYOB we took our own wine. This restaurant was a real Maine lobster experience for us. Amazingly fresh and tasty. You can pick your own lobster and bucket list for 2(59 $) is a perfect choice if you like also clams and mussels as you get a lot of them. Definitely would come back.

Pick your own lobster, byob(and tablecloth, flatware, condiments and sides, wineglasses, vases and flowers, if you like…) Admittedly, the lobster and the lovely environment on the bay are the thing, since they are wisely minimal when it comes to preparation. Simple simple simple, but highlighting the seafood. Lobster stew was a case in point. Light milky broth, with plenty of large pieces of super fresh lobster meat, served up in a plastic takeaway container with oyster crackers and a few pickle chips. Also props to the helpful Ziggy and staff(serving up Jamaican cheer) who explained that you order first, remember your number, and grab your spot on the deck or in the dining room, wait to be called, pick up your food, THEN pay. If you can get the 2nd floor deck table, you have scored big time, the couple that was occupying it when I was there looked like they were prepared to stay all night long. Aim for pre-sundown arrival.

While the location and lobster were good, the customer service was some of the worst I have ever had in a restaurant: No broth was served with my steamed clams, as is traditional, so they were a bit gritty. My lobster stew was lukewarm. You get one small, thin napkin with a shore dinner(are you kidding me), and they don’t have napkins on the tables, so you have to go back to the counter and ask for more. The corn on the cob was WAY overcooked. I spent $ 39 for a shore dinner and they didn’t want to give me a cup for water without charging me $ 2!!! I live in Maine five months of the year, and I most definitely wouldn’t go back.
