This place is excellent! Stopped in after reading the reviews and was greatly impressed. If you’re looking for a roadside grill with great burgers and bar food, this is your place. Had a burger and a couple beers in the bar. The burger was hands down one of the best I’ve had in a long time. You can tell this place really concentrates on making great burgers. The menu was huge too with so many good things. The service was great for a bar. Had a very nice server who got my name and treated me like a million bucks. The place was clean and well managed. The price was completely reasonable. Really have nothing but great and complimentary things to say about JR’s. I will definitely be back.

Stopped here for lunch on a Monday on the way back from Union after reading reviews, especially after noting they had reubens on the menu. We were greeted by a enthusiast young woman who, though she looked like high-school jailbait, later informed us that she was studying structural engineering in college.(My clueless, but wonderful, partner asked: «What grade are you in?») A nice touch was the hand cut snowflakes attached to the windows and the Christmas village made of cookie dough on a half-sheet pan. Only one other couple was having lunch and another couple was in back at the bar. The TV was not turned up too loud. The sandwich menu is very extensive. Service was fast and everything was generally better the just OK. My reuben was very good except for the added cheese, an unusual but American addition. The shoe string sweet potato fries were OK. My partner’s chicken quesadilla, ordered w/o cheese, was tasty and accompanied by a very good salsa. We shared an excellent, apparently homemade, blackberry pie. The coffee was hot and weak as expected, but no refills. We enjoyed our lunch and will be back.

Met friends on a Saturday night. Not many people(in the bar area). Waitress got our drinks quickly/friendly so we were off to a good start. As to the food, DH got a Club sandwich w/Cole slaw. Kitchen accidentally gave him fries, too so he had both. Good thing as the slaw was downright inedible. I notice he wasn’t eating it so I tasted it and it tasted ONLY of plastic container. So gross. I had the chicken quesadilla which was pretty good but there was a good bit of raw onion involved for those who have issues with that. Service was only fair. She never came back to see if we needed anything or wanted drink refills(sale lost there as we would probably have had another drink)! Slow service can’t be blamed on it being busy either as we were the only customers there by the time we left. Sad for a bar on a Saturday night at 7PM!

I’ve been here 3 times now and I’ve loved each time. The diner seating is on the left from the entrance and the bar area is on the right. There isn’t much décor in the dining section, but it’s a family owned and run place. The bar area looks very much like any sports bar with pool tables and games, as well as Seahawks everywhere. The first time I came here was with my blind aunt and they were very accommodating. We had a new waitress then, but the service was still great. I got a regular hamburger with sweet potato fries, my aunt got a Buffalo burger. The food came out quickly and was delicious. The portions were large so we both had left overs for another day. The second time I came here was with my boyfriend, aunt and uncle. My uncle got breakfast for dinner, but he wasn’t pleased with it. We were informed that there were new kitchen staff for the dinner time and they hadn’t made many of the breakfast items. I got a taco salad which was really delicious and shared some of it with my boyfriend who liked the fired shell. My boyfriend got the Trident which is a chicken and bacon sandwich and he enjoyed it. My aunt got a cheese burger and she finished it! The third time my boyfriend and I came back and it was late. We had both had long days at work and we were moving to Tacoma the next day so we had been packing on our free time. It was probably 9:30PM and we were starving so we went to our favorite traditional american restaurant. The dining area was closed but they served us in the bar area. It was interesting to see the difference. It’s louder but the energy of the room is higher as well. The server/bar tender was nice and our food came out quickly. I had the chicken strips and my boyfriend had fish and chips with an order of garlic fries. The food was delicious and we had left overs because it was too much. I miss this place now that we’ve moved but once we visit our aunt and uncle we will probably stop here again. best burgers in Belfair and also nice hours for those of us who have late shifts.

A local favorite for sure. It’s not unusual to see patrons stop at several tables to say hi before they reach their own. The food is good, the quantity will most likely warrant a doggy bag, and the prices are reasonable. Their breakfast offerings are great but we enjoy their full menu as well.

I like JR’s for takeout. Their reubens are my favorite; their taco salad is really good too. Always ready when I come to pick it up, and the person taking my phone order is always really helpful. The prices are good, too. Overall a great place to pick up dinner to go. I actually have never eaten in, but it appears to be a fairly typical diner atmosphere. I have been there once for live music — it was actually a blast, and the music was good. I was pleasantly surprised.

First off, the Unilocal directions took us to Casey’s… next, we went for karaōke which was advertised as starting at 9pm. The first song started at 9:50pm. Once it started it was fine, but that’s 1 – 2 songs depending on the size of the rotation. The bar food smelled good(we only had dessert). Overall it was not the best karaōke experience, but not the worst.

Three out of the last six times I have been there, I have received terrible service. In August I went there, and waited almost an hour and 20 minutes to get our food. The next time, I ordered chicken fried steak to share with a friend, and the waitress brought us a tiny steak and the sides were just as tiny, as if they were trying to make a point about us sharing food. When my husband goes there and orders it from them, they bring him a good sized steak that he struggles to finish. The final straw was this Friday when we got there with our group of 8,(we go there every Friday) and there was another group of ten sitting in our usual spot. There were only two other customers sitting in the restaurant, yet we waited over thirty minutes just to get our menu. My husband and I I told her I didn’t need a menu, because we already knew what we wanted, She told us that she would be back to take our orders because she was busy, and It took another 20 minutes for her to come back to take our order. I asked her then if it was going to be an additional 30 minute wait for our food, since I was starving, and she said probably, since they were very busy. We chose that moment to thank her and leave. She was very friendly, and I know it wasn’t only her fault, and they may have been understaffed, but they weren’t that busy to be that slow on a Friday night. I know my favorite waitress left them for another restaurant, and I have heard from other former employees that the working atmosphere there has gotten difficult. I am not trying to be bitter or petty, I had left a prior great review for JR’s, the food is almost always excellent, and I will give them another chance, I hope they can sort things out, because there aren’t very many options in Belfair to eat, especially in the evening.

Great food — classic diner, but nice touches, like fresh cut fruit. Handled our food allergies with care and respect.

Haven’t been out to JR’s in forever but now that the weather has taken a turn for the better we’ll probably head out that way more often! Well, not only that, we’ll be returning to JR’s more often for the fantastic breakfast! I order Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs no matter where I go when going out to breakfast. It’s something I don’t make at home so it’s the only time I get it. Most are the same, those perfect little mystery meat deep fried golden patties with crispy edges and a nice tender middle! I love them! The difference is the gravy, which many restaurants treat as an after thought. They just slop some gooey gray stuff on top and think the rest will carry the plate. Not the case here at JR’s! The gravy was just as good as everything else! Eggs cooked perfectly to order, server attentive and friendly, drinks tasty and refreshing! They don’t serve huge portions that you won’t be able to finish in two meals either, it’s a nice portion that most men will finish and be able to wipe up those last morsels with the toast and most women will come close! The only reason for a 4 star instead of 5 is the wait you have to endure if you want to play those fun little pull tab things. I feel, whether I order a drink, food or $ 20 in pull tabs, I shouldn’t have to wait until everybody in the place has been served at least once, some twice, before I get them! Both times I asked for pull tabs I had to wait until the server went around taking other peoples orders and checking on others before my request was even considered! We’ll definitely be back, just might stick to the food and drinks though and keep my gamblin’ money for the casino!

I loved this place. My husband and I went there for the first time this week. I got the NY steak & he got the pulled pork burger. The food was great & we ended up having to take the left overs home. The best part was the service though. We didn’t realize that the restaurant closed at 8 and we got there at 7:40. But instead of rushing us our server let us know we just had to get our food order in before the kitchen close and otherwise we could take as long as we liked. Our server was super friendly, quick with our drinks & our food. We also told her that we had just moved to the area and she gave us tips on places to try or and also tips obsessed coming back to JR’s(plan on a long wait for breakfast since it gets packed, summer and winter hours, etc.). We will totally be making this place a regular stop add the food is really good and we felt so well treated.

Their Reuben was messy and wonderful and the mountain of onion rings was too much but I’m not complaining. They also had 3 types of Tabasco sauce on the table and I fell in love with the chipotle tabasco sauce. It’s worth the stop.

YUMMO! navy bean n ham with half a sourdough blt for me and my husband had the country gravy n biscuits, 2 eggs n hashbrowns… no salt or pepper necessary cuz the seasoning was spot on. Good to the last bite, we will return to this olé biker bar that is under conversion. they started properly — in the kitchen. can’t wait to see the changes on the outside and interior décor!

Very good. My girls have never eaten a full meal at any restaurant EVER… but after a day at lake cushman we decided to stop and so glad we did. I had the chicken Alfredo. They were out of grilled chicken and asked if I wanted to add shrimp I declined and told them I would take it without the chicken. One daughter had the grilled cheese which she said was the best one she’d ever had my other daughter and the hubs had the crispy chicken sandwich. Both liked it. All the plates were picked clean. And to my surprise they knocked off half the price of my dish due to the no chicken. I didn’t ask for this as I am the one who took the meal as is. My girls are itching to go back for breakfast. my only complaint if I had to give one is I don’t like to have to ask for more water. But my glass never got refilled. Other then that the service was good.

The Slogan of JR’s Hideaway is: «There are no strangers here — just friends you haven’t met yet!» They really live up to their slogan. Very nice employees… feels like you have just walked into a good friends home. Lots of locals, laughter and smiles. And they food is pretty good too.

Stopped here for lunch on our way home. The server/hostess was very personable and caring. Ordered the roast beef dip sandwich with steak fries and a side of deep fried pickles. The bun was lightly toasted and and still soft, roast beef was very tender with a smokey flavor. The au jus was the perfect compliment. Great service, good food.

Fantastic burgers cooked right every time. Juicy and succulent to the very last bite. Don’t ever visit JR’s and think you can get away with just a light snack. Come in here prepared to eat much and eat well. I love their Bobcat burger. Such wondrous gastronomical pleasure is derived from the combination of beef, pepperjack cheese, thick crispy onion rings, lettuce, tomato, mayo and BBQ sauce. Live on the wild side: splurge on bacon and sweet potato fries and voila! All food groups and macronutrients are amply covered in one handsome meal. Put JR’s on your radar!
