I still really like Min Fen Kitchen. Won ton soup is good. Really good chicken fingers. They have a sweet, really good batter. I always order Beef and Broccoli or Hunan Beef(extra spicy). Szechuan beef is good, sort of resembles a Chille’s fajita’s dish, i order the others though. Lo Mein is good, lo men is always good. The vegetables here are always very nice and crispy and fresh. Also, ask for brown rice. This isn’t really a dine-in restaurant, despite having tables.

So after a fruitful night full of physically exhausting activities, my girl and I couldn’t help but have a profound desire for Chinese Food. We would have ordered from The Wong Garden because they have the superior crab rangoons, but we were in no position to move, so ultimately Min Fen Kitchen was chosen because they’re the only place in Belchertown that delivers. Anyways, we decided to go with the number 9 and 9a combo along with a side order of the rangoons and our findings are as follows. First things first, the presentation was surprisingly good, the chicken fingers were carefully laid on top of the bed of steaming hot rice in a perfectly spread out pattern with a single piece of broccoli planted into the rice as decoration. The General Tso’s was a hot delicious mess of sauce and chicken as expected. Also, I hope you like leftovers because the portions were huge, especially for the price. Heres where it gets ugly. The sesame chicken(same thing as the Tso’s except coated with sesame seeds) did absolutely nothing for the taste. Our theory is that this is because the sesame seed were not toasted prior to being planted onto the Tso’s sauce. Regardless, these sticky golden nuggets of joy disappeared fast. Next, the bag did not come with napkins or plastic utensils. While this may be a minor flaw, it was a major let down knowing I had to go back downstairs to hunt down clean silverware. Now heres where things get really weird. After the delivery guy pulled up with the goods he proceeded to exit the car VIA his moon roof with the large bag of food in tow. Okay, maybe his door was broken… right? Not so fast. After paying for the food he entered back into his car through his driver side door. Its events like these that make me truly appreciate the oddities that come with buying food from hole in the wall joints– another satisfied customer.

I feel compelled to review this place again as my last review was not in depth enough. Let me start by saying, don’t dine in here. The dining room is outdated small and uncomfortable. Drinks are in a can… just order out or take delivery. I mean if your in a pinch and in a small group and don’t care go for it, dine in. I am telling you right now though that this isn’t the go to spot to dine in. That being said I have never ordered anything from the menu and been disappointed. There are two options in Belchertown, Min Fin and Wong Garden. Wong garden sucks and is forever dead to me for using canned mushrooms in their dishes.(and lets face it, wong gardens dining room may be bigger, but a fish tank and a full bar doesn’t make the food better) If you are leaving the area, sure there are better options to be had in other cities, go for it. But if you are staying in the area, Min Fin is it. The food has always been great for me. The vegetables always fresh and the portions ample. When getting Chinese take out in B town, Min fin is it for me. ____________ Update I don’t know what happened here but the food has gone to complete garbage the past to times we ordered. That mistake will not happen again. There is no Chinese food in Belchertown as far as I’m concerned.

Not my cup of(jasmin)tea. The place is very modest, outdated furniture, decoration, etc… Not a biggie if the food is great, right? Well, that’s where I have an issue with this place. The food was very greassy and the fried rice was a little hangovered from days before. I requested fried tofu, a staple, a simple side tofu. I got charged $ 10.00 for a side of 7 stamp sized cubes of fried tofu, plain, no sauces, no fancy anything. Ok to pay 10 bucks if the food is great, right? Wrong, the oil they used was probably not being changed in a while. Please how much mileage do you get out of your frying oil?(It was probably ready to put on my Biodisel car at that point!). I was already 10 min out of town to go and complain for the mediocrity and below standard quality of the overpriced food they serve… We’ll NEVER, EVER come back! I cannot believe that people in Btown has such low bars for chinese food… Someone told me that the other one in town was a little better… I think I’ll skip it and drive to Amherst. Check out Oriental Flavors chinese(next to Bank of America in downtown Amherst)

Solid Chinese take out. Minfen Kitchen is located on the street level of a white house on the Belchertown Common, and there is off-street parking around back. The consensus of our party was that the apps were just ok/not so great, but the main dishes were a pleasant surprise. Chinese take-out is so unpredictable… I think you kind of have to get to know which places to which stuff well, and what to avoid where. Our group tried the fried meat dumplings(fine by most standards, but China Star in Agawam sets a high dumpling bar, so…), egg rolls(as much as I love egg rolls, I probably wouldn’t get them again; they weren’t greasy — which is my usual complaint — but there wasn’t much filling to speak of and what was there didn’t have much flavor), and chicken wings(good flavor/texture, but skimpy portion; «6 wings» was actually six wing PIECES so a total of three whole chicken wings, and the wings themselves were quite small). For main dishes, we got hot chicken with peanuts, beef and vegetables, and pork chow mein. After ordering«chicken with peanuts» recently at Panda East and getting, literally, chicken with peanuts and nothing else rather than the more typical kung pao I had been expecting, I asked Minfen whether there were any vegetables with this dish and she said«ok chicken peanuts vegetables»…and that is indeed what we got… but I’m not sure whether it would have included veggies if I hadn’t asked, or whether they added them in at my request. In any event, I would order it that way again just to be sure! The dish was very nicely flavored and everything was fresh and well prepared. The beef with mixed vegetables was pretty straight forward… beef was tender and flavorful and veggies were fresh. Finally, we ordered pork chow mein because I absolutely love bean sprouts. Interestingly enough, I don’t think there were any in this dish! But the sauce was lovely… not overly starched as is sometimes the case… and the veggies were fresh with a perfect crunch(guessing cabbage, bok choy, onions and other pale things all julienned). Also, they have brown rice. Reasonable prices, nice flavors, not overly sauced or starched, fresh veggies, and easy parking. We’ll be hitting this one again!

Stopped off here on the way through Belchertown. Small dining area with a few tables, primarily a take-out place, has plenty of parking in the back. Egg roll: OK Spring roll: OK Pork dumplings: Somewhat gray color, funny tasting filling. Scallion pancake: «ran out» so I wonder if they’re made on the premises. Orange beef: OK Dragon and Phoenix: tasty, but only 4 shrimp and General Tso’s chicken little chicken, lots of batter. Overall, quick, inexpensive but not great food.

We LOVE this place for Chinese take out! Between my husband and I we’ve probably ordered at least ½ the menu!(ok, maybe that’s a strech…) Particular faves: Scallion pancakes, eggrolls, ginger chicken and string beans, orange beef… I could go on… We’re always happy with the quality and taste of the food! The only thing we’ve tried that I wouldn’t recommend is the won-ton soup. They don’t have much in the way of restaurant«ambiance,» but if you’re looking for good take out this place has it!
