Tried this place upon a recommendation from my cousin. Pleasantly surprised! Great service and good food for NW Indiana. I work downtown and travel quite a bit, so I tend to be picky and am a tough critic. I enjoyed a nice dinner — sea bass and risotto. The fish was well seasoned and not over cooked. The risotto was so-so, but the French martini made up for it. Enjoyed the complimentary mini-meatballs and crudités served before our meal. My husband enjoyed the blackened salmon too. We will be back!

Our first time here… Early Valentine’s Day. We started off with the sautéed shrimp.. Only 4 pieces, but soooo good! Next, i had the baked French onion soup, and my husband had the cream of broccoli. . He had the Steak Diane. I had the veal chop… HUGE!(see photo). We doggie bagged our meal, and stuffed ourselves with desserts! Tiramisu, and a dash of spomoni for the hubby, and I had the Italian layer cake. Service was very attentive. My only complaint is the parking lot. If you park in the north side, by the grass, you will block someone, because its hard to go on the grass…

Been coming here for 15 years. «Sometimes» the food can be a little off but that’s with any place. I’d say 3 times in the past 15 years… we were disappointed. The Dover Sole and Pork Chops are outstanding! ALWAYS! We remain loyal. This place holds a lot of special memories for us. Martinis are not great. Stick to wine or your basic vodka tonic and drinks of that nature. Sounds weird but the coffee is like no other. Delicious.

Less than one star!!! OMG! Do not eat here. What a disgrace. A waste of $ 150. The relish tray was soggy and old. The salad was over dressed. The mashed potatoes tasted like shit! The décor ducked! The meat tasted like I was Conan the bar barbarian. The service felt like a darn hospital cafeteria. I wanted to keep my funds in the community, but with food like this… I’m m moving out! What a disgrace!

My favorite restaurant just struck out. Used to have the best steaks. We were there a few days ago. Five of us had the filet mignon. Five of us said it was not as good as usual. I could have had a better steak at the Outback. We told the waitress and she was like«sorry». Ok. Maybe just a bad day for the Princess.

This was a breath of fresh air for me last night. I have been getting increasingly bored with my dining options in the Manteno area — so remembering having seen billboards for the Princess Café on my to work sites the last six months — we decided to give ‘er a try. Glad that we did! We were greeted by a friendly hostess — opted to sit in the bar, in a booth, and in front of a tv playing the Packer/Chargers game — Perfect. Ordered waters to start and we were brought a complimentary relish tray, cocktail meatballs, and bread without even asking for anything. That was a nice thing to do. I ordered the surf and turf — 8oz lobster tail and 8oz filet mignon(medium rare) with salad and mashed potatoes, my partner got the rack of lamb with salad and mashed potatoes. Great salads with homemade salad dressings. The dressings did not come on the side, which I would usually be pissed about, but they know how to dress a salad at this place. Just the right amount. The lobster was yummy — cooked perfectly and the filet was perfection also. I can’t remember the last time my steak has been cooked properly at a restaurant. Needless to say, I was happy. The lamb was pretty damn tasty as well. I don’t eat lamb too often so don’t have much to base the lamb on — I was told that it was cooked properly and some of the best that he has had. The waiter was fantastic — kind, attentive, and helpful. I wish I would have caught his name. The ambience in the Princess is old school. Dimly lit, romantic, quiet with nice classical instrumentals playing softly in the background. It’s not awkward quiet either — but the right amount of quiet. Quiet enough to eat in peace and relax without hearing everyone’s conversations around you. The furniture is definitely vintage but not raggy at all. It’s a very nice looking place. I will be coming here again(have to bring my roommate when he comes home from vacation). Looking forward to trying one of their chicken dishes, soup, and some flaming saganaki cheese! It seemed like a popular appetizer last night — hearing«opa!» every ten minutes or so.

Always a quality meal, great drinks, service and the highest quality meats, fish and vegetables. I have been going there sense the steak for two days and always leave happy. This is a great family run restaurant that rivals any Chicago steak or seafood establishment, and for the the crybabies that post its to expensive you obviously haven’t been to Chicago to dine because this is a bargain !!!

As my uncle always says as your about to put sauce on a steak, «what you don’t like steak»? No need to add anything and I love that steak sandwich. Great, place to take the family Friday TAKE-OUT night

Food was good! My salmon was delicious but the garlic mashed potatoes were cold. Service was ok but we expected our food sooner; after you order you expect service. The food was great! Atmosphere ok!

One of my favorite restaurants of all time. It is usually packed and reservations can run behind. However, the food, the service, and the ambiance are worth the wait. You must try the seafood. The scallops de jonghe is a personal top choice for an entrée. And for an appetizer the blue point oysters on the half shell are huge and sensational! Make sure you add the horseradish to the cocktail sauce. Bön appétit!

This place is great! Very nice bar area. Great food/great service. A bit pricey, but it’s worth the money. Also, tight slots. Too tight for me… Giggity…

A family«go-to» for the past 10 years. Have some of the friendliest owners/family oriented staff you can imagine. Ask for Evan. Just do it. The place has a very old appearance. No problems here, as long as the food is worth it. ITIS. Of the 15+ meals I’ve had, not one has been bad. The greek flair is always present in the entrees. Huge relish tray with an assortment of fresh veggies. Next come the meatballs and bread which are always outstanding. For an appetizer it’s almost a must for us to get a saganaki and shrimp dejonghe. Every entrée here has been great. Not the best ribeye I’ve had.(That and the lack of craft beers are only reasons holding back a 5-star). I’m not a filet guy, but my god are they great. Everything I’ve tried is great: Frog legs, chops, shrimp, steak. Just try it all. Unless you close this place down you’ll have a family coming back once every few months. Keep it up Princess.

I grew up in Beecher, Illinois, and defected to the city(much to the chagrin of the locals). Here’s the thing: It does not get better than The Princess. Hands down. My first memories of The Princess at the ripe old age of five are eating Grandma’s secret recipe meatballs(provided with all dinners at The Princess and which have not changed in 31 years) and basking in the family dining atmosphere. Let me frame the review: I live on the north side of Chicago near Evanston and I still drive to The Princess for dinner. That’s saying something… First off, I’ve not had a bad meal at the Princess. I am hard pressed to find an item on the menu which I’ve either A) not had or B) Didn’t like. For appetizers, go with the saganaki. For main courses, I love their steaks, frog legs, shrimp dishes and anything with a Greek flair. The soups are homemade, the salads are always fresh and every meal comes with a large collection of relishes. I’ve never walked away from The Princess hungry. Yeah, it’s expensive for Beecher. But, honestly, think of the quality and quantity of the food. If you’re looking for a pizza from Aurelio’s, then go to Aurelio’s and stop trying to make The Princess something it’s not. The one and only thing which pains me is that it’s now soup OR salad, when it used to be soup AND salad. Ah, well, the pain is nostalgia related. Seriously — bring your friends or round up a batch of locals and head down to the corner of Indiana Avenue and Dixie Highway. This one’s not to be missed! Signed, A former local

Our party of 5 went to the Princess last night and had a wonderful dinner and experience. Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing. And the food? well the food was the best. Along with the relish tray, soup or salad, and potato, all of our meals were prepared to perfection. Steaks were tender and prepared to perfection as well as the Haddock. Myself and one other had the seafood platter. I can attest that the perch, shrimp, scallops, and frog legs were sauteed to perfection. It’s about a 50 minute drive from the City, but I don’t believe I’ve had a better meal in the City of Great Restuarants.
