I visited the Benedict Inn when I was a kid with my aunt, who regularly swam at their pool. I decided to go back one day last winter for a swim… the chlorine sounded appealing on a yucky January day. I went with the intent that I would start swimming as part of a regular fitness routine, but for me, it just turned into a one-time thing — because of my own laziness, not because of a bad experience at the pool. They have several water fitness programs at the center’s pool, with a schedule available at their website. There are also open family swim times, as well as regular adult lap swim times. Again, all the schedules are available at the website. The pool and locker rooms are a little older, but overall seemed pretty clean… I didn’t feel scared that I might pick up some nasty locker room or swimming pool disease! The pool is a good place to go if you’re an adult who wants some extra exercise, or if you have kids that are just dying to go for a swim in the winter months. The Inn also has beginner yoga classes available year-round, and sessions are held Mondays at 7:00. I haven’t been to them, but at $ 45 per six-class session, it seems like it couldn’t hurt to give them a try! One last note — the Center is affiliated with the Catholic church, but I believe that anyone is welcome to use their facilities.
