Beware — the pharma doesn’t honor Medicare B –«It’s a corporate thing.» They are often out of inventory and have to wait until next day for meds. Not crazy about the Produce Section of the store, and deli prices are higher. They are keeping it clean, but there are fewer customers every time I go in — just don’t see. Only good thing — some of the checkers that have been there a while are courteous and pleasant to be around, but SunFresh seems to be running off employees too.

I was hoping that the opening of the business to Sun Fresh Market would bring welcomed changed. The prices continue be higher than Krogers. The produce is often out of stock and old. I stopped in to pick up a couple ears of corn and noticed that the department was cutting out the bad spots. It was obvious that the produce is not the freshest that one would expect. The last couple trips to the Sun Fresh proved to be equally as disappointing. They had no English cucumbers,. I stopped last week to pick up some snow peas and bean sprouts. Again, they were out. Not to mention the fact that the student employee that wa assisting me had no idea what an English was. The Store Mgmt needs to spend time going back to3 «old school» grocery. Walk the floor. Introduce yourself by name. Take time getting to know your customers and the customers needs. Limit the wait time for customers. Know the product that your putting out. I am not yet ready to stop shopping with Sun Fresh Market but it is going to need to make changes.

The only reason it isn’t a one star is because I like some of my regular checkers, but let me just say that since they changed to Minyard Sun Fresh Market, the prices are through the roof. I got home and looked at my receipt and couldn’t believe the cost of certain things. One item was supposed to be on sale for $ 4.99 but ended up being $ 9.99. My mistake for not paying better attention during checkout! Even though this store is convenient, I refuse to go along with the price gouging.

Nasty shock, went inside today and noticed everything looked a bit off… the deli looked odd, the prices were sky high… oh wait, they are a Minyards now. Blech. Thought I would check it out anyways, instead of my usual basket of groceries left with ONE thing, apples, everything else was ridiculously over priced. What a sad thing it turns out to be sold to Minyards. Now doing my shopping at the Tom Thumb in Grapevine, I’ll never come back here.

They changed to Minyard Market. The broccoli looked like it has been slumming around at night with fight club hoodlums. Less organic meat. Less quality in produce. No more single serve cheesecake. No more pickled beets in cans. Raised the price on Progresso Soup. Got rid of the excellent deli soups for a new brand that is twice the cost for half the contents. The to go deli area is all preprocessed prepackaged crap. No more oven baked and sliced chicken to go by the soup and deli sandwiches. No more gourmet to go salads… only the sad prepackaged Iceberg lettuce ones. My heart is broken. Screw you Minyard. SCREWYOU. And I am knocking the dust off my proverbial sandals as I leave your store. It is pretty bad when Walmart can meet or exceed you now. You lost what was special. I am breaking up with you. We have been on 48 check in offical dates and I dated you before there even were check ins but we arent gonna make it to a 50 golden anniversary. Never call me again. But for those of you who are also addicted to Steakhouse Chili. …the other Tom Thumbs are still Tom Thumb. Just this one changed and the one on Hall Johnson.

Careful with your produce selections! The signs tout 125 organic products, Texas grown, and delivered daily, Everything I looked at had a sticker indicating that they were a product of MEXICO. A query to the ethics line got a response says that this signage would be corrected, A week later, signs are still up and you are still eating Mexican products advertised as Texas products. Organic from Mexico? I don’t know.

The best thing about this Tom Thumb is the pharmacy, which is consistently excellent and open 24 hours. I have shopped at this particular store since it opened many years ago, and the quality of their products has noticeably deteriorated since Safeway purchased Tom Thumb. Unfortunately, the store no longer carries many of the products I regularly purchased, and I have discovered products with expired dates and spoiled produce on more than one occasion. I now shop at Kroger or even Walmart, where I can still find the products I need and where the produce is fresher. I do still use the pharmacy… It’s the best around, in my opinion… but I purchase my groceries elsewhere.

This is an update, and I am happy to be giving one. I just had a great experience at this location tonight! I was amazed… I left the house much later than usual needing dishwasher detergent and ended up getting a week’s worth of groceries! The produce was all fresh, and the dairy section was stocked and fresh, which were departments I had issues with in the past. I have to say that I wasn’t expecting much, and instead I am very pleased. I definitely approve! Everyone was friendly, too!

One of the only local pharmacies that has my Rx in stock consistently and they are open 24 hours. I’ve never had any problems.

Stuck at a 3 – 3.5 If my information is correct, this store was remodeled shortly after my arrival to Texas, at the end of 2007. The store was completely redone, with a 24 hour pharmacy, meat, flower, deli, and bakery counter. Produce was amazingly fresh, check out fast, and staff friendly. Sometime after, maybe 6 – 8 months, there seemed to have been a change in Management. The overall staff morale had changed, and was quite noticeable in their attitudes. Almost like, they had stopped caring. Product around the store also took a hit, deli sandwiches weren’t as good, I often find expired items all over the store. I do come here, as its really close to home(when in need of something ASAP), and I fill prescriptions at their Pharmacy. Pharmacy staff are always nice and helpful. I really hope management takes a notice on their staff morale, and do a bit of change. It would do wonders for their business, as that as also declined. I am staying positive that this store doesn’t close.

Tom Thumb, I like shopping at you. I moved to Texas from California in December, and I had always preferred shopping at Von’s. However, I quickly learned that there is no «Von’s» in Texas… but there’s Randall’s(when I lived in Houston) and Tom Thumb(now that I live in the Ft. Worth area). Same food, same rewards program, same prices, and same stores, basically. The only reason that Tom Thumb doesn’t get 5 stars is because of the employees, who just aren’t always the most smiley or outgoing. Also, to be honest, sometimes the other customers annoy the crap out of me because they can be rude. I know that the business itself can’t do anything to help that, but it still takes away from my overall shopping experience. Lots of parking, and in a very convenient location, this Tom Thumb is just like all the other local Tom Thumbs(I’m guessing). It’s close to my apartment, and is where I always go to shop. If it sucked, I’d go somewhere else ;) Also, I love the produce here — it’s always fresh, and always fully stocked.
