Traveling through Beckley on business and found this place after some research. I’m always looking for something creative and local and this certainly fit the bill. It’s a converted home which is pretty welcoming and has a bar at the back which I’m assuming was the living room. Staff was very friendly and gave wonderful recommendations. Bartender recommended the salmon which was absolutely on point. Blackened and cooked so lightly that it just crusted at the edges but the middle was pinkish-red. It’s hard to find someone that doesn’t overcook fish. Thank you! The glaze was incredible. A vinegar base that you could tell had undergone some serious effort. Wonderful entrée. Beer selection is pretty good just stay away from the beer they brew there(or ask for a sample). They were happy to give me 3, all of which tasted like the beers my buddy’s brew at home that I pretend to like. Great place though if you’re in Beckley and want to avoid the horrible abundance of chain food!

I had the tomato bisque soup and the pear and feta salad with the sweet basil dressing. I ate everything on my plate and couldn’t get enough of the food. I was very impressed on the quality and quantity of food for the price. I can’t wait to come back here! Would recommend to everyone local or if you’re just passing through.

In a town where it’s hard to find anything non-fast-food, this place was a pleasant surprise. Traveling through we would have taken any mom and pop restaurant or diner, but we stumbled upon Dobra Zupas and I’m so glad we did. The old house this place is in is full of character and well cared for. House beer was great. While they had several I went with the pale ale and loved it. Ruben was good, and cheese fries were a good starter(a little on the small side for two people), but the tomato bisque completely stole the show. It was soup nazi good. Overall the prices seemed fair, bar was great, and bisque was awesome. This place is a diamond in an area full of coal(see what I did there). Highly recommended.

Great local place, we’ll definitely be back. We were passing thru the state, looking for a vegan place. It was late, the kitchen was just closing. They fixed up a hummus plate for us. Very good. Great beer. Got a tour of the brewery. We’ll stop by again on our way back home.

So glad to see that Beckley has a non-chain restaurant that is charming and delicious! We visited on a Saturday evening and were early to arrive. The restaurant quickly filled up so you may consider reservations. They had a great craft beer selection and my husband enjoyed his selection. We each had sandwiches — a turkey reuben, the club, and a cheeseburger. All were delicious and we tried different sides — the chips, the fries, and soup. Thumbs up on everything being cooked perfectly! We chose a table away from the windows as it is in an old house and it looked like the tables close to the windows could be drafty. The décor and background music were nice. We would definitely go again on our next visit to Beckley.

Food isn’t too bad… Fried goat cheese was cold??? Eggplant parmesan was burnt on top, plate as hot as hades for 30 minutes, and tomato«water» on eggplant parm was embarrassing. Went 2nd time… and eggplant parm had been taken off the menu… caprese pasta not bad, but tomatoes were out of season, so tasteless. I’m really hoping for some exceptional food… yes, here in Beckley… ! Both times I’ve gone service has been ridiculously, endearingly slow. Please don’t make me ask to refill my water! I’m really hoping I’m not embarrassed to have guests try to eat out in this town… Help a sister out!

Cute atmosphere with a beer and wine list that is half the menu! Small food menu but I think it was the perfect amount of choices with a nice variety of options Service was slow. Or maybe they intentionally paced it that way. Fried Goat cheese app was served cold, which surprised me but it was tasty. Side salad is plain but fresh and large. Crab risotto was so-so. It was well cooked but not creamy. I’d try this place again. There were a few things on the menu I’d like!

Dobra Zupa’s is the closest to fine dining Beckley has to offer. Perfectly suited for business lunches and anniversary dinners, the restaurant is a nice change from the overall casual atmosphere of most restaurants in Beckley. The restaurant is situated in a charming old home in a residential area. The staff was welcoming and attentive and the general ambiance was upscale yet relaxed. The dining room was complete with beautiful hardwood floors, a rustic fireplace with a massive hearth, and a vintage bar. The menu was quite expansive including entrees like crab risotto and chicken Marsala as well as sandwiches and pizzas. I ordered the blackened salmon with a side of grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. Although the salmon was perfectly cooked it lacked basic seasoning. It was in dire need of some salt and it really was not«blackened» in that it lacked an appropriate amount herbs and spices. The mashed potatoes likewise were under seasoned and in my opinion overly dense. The asparagus itself was fine but then again preparing grilled asparagus should not pose much of a challenge for an upscale restaurant. Overall the atmosphere and the service was excellent but the food was lackluster to say the least.

I was here back in September while I was in from Virginia Beach to see my sister. It seemed like a neat little joint — it’s an older house and it even more or less looks like an older house inside, just with restaurant tables and chairs. Pretty cool. Our waitress was very friendly and nice… We recognized her from a bar we had been at the night before. The beer selection was eclectic and they had a selection of craft beers to choose from, which is always a plus in my book. I started off by ordering the fried goat cheese appetizer, which was very tasty. It had a crispy breadcrumb crust, with soft, warm and tart goat cheese inside. They served it with toasted red peppers and some baguette slices to smear it on. Yummy. But this is where things took a downturn. They offer a «build it yourself» Flatbread Pizza. It comes with cheese and sauce and you get to pick three toppings. I picked capers, kalamata olives and prosciutto. Sounds terrific, right? Wrong! The pizza came out with this half inch thick slab of cheese on it, which for a flatbread pizza, is WAYTOOMUCH. I could see that much cheese on a double deep dish Chicago style pizza pie, but on a thin crust… It was horrible. And I LOVECHEESE! It was already starting to cool off and so the cheese was turning sort of rubbery. The pizza was sliced into 8 or 10 small squares(two people could have shared it). I ate one small piece and decided it was not good at all. I never thought I would say something had too much freaking cheese! My sister tasted it and agreed. I never send things back or ask them to take it off the bill, but since I only ate basically a couple of bites, I did not want to pay for it. The waitress was very gracious in taking it back to the kitchen. She came back shortly thereafter and said the owner would only take half off the bill. I found that ridiculous as I didn’t even eat any of it and I had also ordered drinks and a pricey appetizer. It wasn’t like I was trying to get a free meal. Wow. Two bites and you pay for half of a disgusting pizza. I found this to be bad business and I would not go back here again. So, I am giving it two stars because of the unprofessional way the owner runs his restaurant, and because of the bad entrée. Those are big knocks. The waitress was very nice, the beer selection was varied and the appetizer was tasty. That’s what saves it from one star. I did tip the waitress nicely. It wasn’t her fault that her boss was inept and rude.

After a long day of driving, imagine our delight in finding this gem of a restaurant! We started our meal with bread and dip, the dip which was excellent. The fried goat cheese with jalapeño jelly was fabulous. The tomato bisque couldn’t have been better. My husband loved every bite of his salmon. I enjoyed my crab risotto, what would have made it better for me is a bit more cream. The menu had something to appeal to nearly everyone. The price was extremely reasonable, about what we would have paid at A chain restaurant! All in all we are extremely happy to have found this place which will surely become a regular stop on our road trips.

Found this great local place on Unilocal.Had great reviews so we backtracked from our hotel to try it out. Restaurant was in a beautifully restored home in a somewhat residential area. The atmosphere was lovely. It had a full bar area we could see but didn’t visit. Extensive beer selection. Decent wine selection. My husband had the Crab Risotto which he loved. My son had a hamburger and it was served in ciabatta roll he rated it a 7 out 10 because of temperature. I had a fried green tomato BLT and it was amazing. All our food arrived hot and delicious. Server was great but a little slow on keeping my glass filled but in his defense I was very thirsty. Overall it was a great dinner.

Very nice quiet place. Staff was very pleasant and attentive. Though I only had salad which was very good … Love the white balsamic dressing and wheat beer I can say the food was very good based on my dish and everyone else’s compliments at the table. As one person at my table said the fried goat chews and bread with dipping sauce was«wonderful!»

Dobra Zupa’s is a small, quaint house turned into restaurant. We were greeted by a friendly waitress and seated in a section with plenty of privacy which was nice. The menu is simple, but it does offer a variety that should have something for everyone. However, my meal was not good. I had a tomato soup that was ok, and the chicken marsala that had very little flavor except for a strange after taste. My stomach then turned as a result and I felt awful for the next few hours. My girlfriend enjoyed her meal without ill effect(she had the salmon plate), but also felt it wasn’t anything special. Don’t think I will be going back here unfortunately.

Unbelievable find in Beckley. Terrific local/regional craft beer selection, amazing food and incredibly friendly service. I sat at the bar on a quiet Monday night, sampled several local beers selected by the bartender before picking a Blue Mountain Dark Hollow. Took my server’s recommendation of the special – chicken breast stuffed with spinach and Gouda, topped with mushrooms – perfectly executed. Great sides, though green beans with bacon on the salty side. Wonderful evening – may go back tonight!

Exactly what we needed and wanted in the middle of a long road trip. Quick and easy access off of 64. The food was excellent. I had the Mediterranean grilled pita. The pita was super soft and everything was super fresh and the homemade tzatziki was perfect. The restaurant is in a beautiful old house and the staff was really nice. Great French press coffee, too.

Wow! What a little gem in Beckley. I would have never even suspected this mom and pop restaurant existed in the heart of a residential area. The food and service here are amazing! I have not had a good blackened catfish poboy like the one I had here in a long, long time, if ever! Highly recommend this place!

It can be a little hit and miss. For example, I got the pastrami. Meat was good, but a dab under seasoned and the mustard had WAY too much horseradish in it. When they hit it right, like with the black and bleu steak, they’re as good as anybody in WV. Shit tons of good beer, great staff.
