A hidden gem along the appalachian trail. Really excellent, super-clean rooms, with pizza delivery. Best coffee on the trail. A total lifesaver on the long section between great barrington and dalton. Grounds are gorgeous and immaculate. I stopped in for water, and couldn’t help but inquire as to the room rate. Turned out, it was more than reasonable, especially for the area. Just 8 rooms, so fills up fast, but very very worthwhile!

The Bershire Lakeside Lodge is a frequent stop by hikers along the Appalachian Trail. Just a 10th of a mile from the trail, it’s a convenient stop and also a mail drop. Although we weren’t hiking, we found the lodge to be a marvelous way to explore the Berkshires. The staff bends over backward to help you with whatever you need. The free breakfasts are simple, but very satisfying, delicious muffins(assorted varieties) and coffee, bananas and seasonal fruit. The rooms are small and noting fancy, but we were able to make do. There are kayaks, a rowboat, and a canoe that you can take out on the pond right next to the lodge. If you are not looking for something fancy, I highly recommend a stay here. It’s convenient to Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow, Lee, and Stockbridge.
