Tried this place on Saturday. We didn’t have to wait to be seated, and we were greeted promptly. The young man took our drink orders as soon as we sat down. This is where it gets bad. We waited for our server for almost ten minutes, finally asked a server passing by if we could order, and she walked to another table to get our server who was at another table holding a baby. Our server finally approached our table and took our order. My wife had the Nacho omelette and I had the Spanish omelette. She brought out our food in a timely fashion. Our omelets were delicious. We never saw our waitress after she dropped off our food. When our drinks needed refilling and my wife needed more syrup, our waitress was over at the same table, sitting down, and holding the baby! It was appalling! We asked the same young man who had brought our drinks before for help, and he got what we needed right away. When we were finished, we had to ask another server passing by for our check. We didn’t even know our servers name(I always like to call them by their name instead of saying«Miss.») because she did not introduce herself and was not wearing a name badge. Our server came and dropped off her check, thanked us, and walked back over to the table with the baby. The name on our receipt said Sandra R. Needless to say, the service was beyond terrible. I’m rating this restaurant three stars because the food was great along with the nice young man who helped us. I hope whoever runs this place reads his reviews here on Unilocal.I sincerely doubt this type of service is acceptable for his establishment. We would probably return for the food, but the service will keep us from EVER eating here again.

Aw, Tom’s. This ain’t right. I had breakfast here this morning for the first time in a few months, and it was pretty disappointing… a word I never thought I’d use for good ol’ Tom’s. I had the Garden Omelet with egg whites and buckwheat pancakes as the side. The pancakes were fine, but the centerpiece of the meal arrived cold. They took it back to reheat, and this time it was hot, but sitting in a huge puddle of water from the veggies. The eggs were just plain mushy too. I only had a couple of bites before surrendering. They ended up taking three dollars off the bill, though the pancakes alone would have been $ 6.25 and the omelet was $ 11.25. This wasn’t a great way to start the day. My first tip-off was how empty it was for a 7:30am breakfast rush — only five or six other tables and that was it. Very unusual compared to just a few months ago, so maybe Tom’s best days are behind it. Sorry, Tom’s.(I also posted a pic of the egg white veggie omelet at Black Bear to show what an omelet is supposed to look like.)

Identical to I Hop in every way, this is perfect for people who like bland breakfast food(including mediocre pancakes.)

I really like Tom’s. They’re a long-time Beaverton fixture and since they started out as a breakfast house, they do breakfast really well. I ordered over-medium eggs and they came out perfectly! Whites hard and yolks runny and no sign of the whites being over or under-the-hood cooked. The only gripe I have about the place it’s that they don’t have any booths.

Got the job done! Sunday mornings are busy! So prepare to wait a little. Server was friendly but rushed… she looked like she needed help. Good breakfast after a nice hike!

Had the cinnamon roll French toast special and it was great! Service was wonderful as well, my coffee was always topped off when needed and we were checked on frequently. Wasn’t too busy this morning though, although some places do slack when it’s slow, wasn’t the case here. My eggs were the best! Had them scrambled with cheese and they were so soft and fluffy… Mmmh! Left full and satisfied… Recommend!

The food was tasty up until I found a couple hairs :(I didn’t notice until I was half way done eating. The thought that I might have already eaten a couple hairs made me a little nauseous. I stopped eating went up to pay for my food and still tipped the restaurant. I did tell them about the hair and they offered me a 10 certificate for my next visit. I gave it back to her I don’t want discounted hairy food I just want food without hair in it. I’m sure it’s not common but was unsettling so I won’t be back because now I’ll only look for hair

Stopped in for dinner tonight, maybe 5 tables full at most. Were seated, given water, then ignored for 15 minutes before we left.

Currently sitting at Tom’s pancake house. I understand that it’s Sunday morning… but we have yet to be asked our order and the people sitting next to us who came in 5 min after my table are being asked their order. *live update. Got up and left. Not sure if we weren’t being served because we are brown and the people next to us are white. I don’t want to make it about that… but it’s hard not to think that when all the white people sitting next to you are being helped before you and you got there first… Otherwise food looked good. To bad I’ll never come here because of discrimination. *** my mom went to pay for her coffee while we were leaving and the manager(?) Was nice enough to not make her pay.

One word: mediocre. The food, the service, and the prices. We got our check before we were asked how our food was. Also, do not get the chili. More like chili flavored onion and tomatoe soup. IMO, there are much better choices around for the same $.

Decided to try Tom’s again and this time we got waitress Dannette. She was awesome! Our order came out in a timely manner and was good. I really enjoy the blueberry pancakes!

You’d think for the name ‘Toms Pancake House’ you’d actually have good pancakes. Ordered banana pancakes, took 3 bites and was done. Even 3 bites were hard for me to swallow. They did have freshly squeezed OJ, which made this place OK.

This is clearly a wonderful place for locals to go. The warmhearted servers took me to my seat inside a warm and open dining room. I saw the machine that was making fresh squeezed orange juice, and knew that I had to get a glass. The Spanish omelette was delicious, packed full of fresh ingredients, and quality Tillamook cheddar cheese. The serving size was enormous, could have easily fed two people. Hashbrowns were cooked to perfection. And any breakfast place that carries ChoLula hot sauce scores extra points in my book! Looking at the other reviews, it is clear that there are some patrons who can’t stomach the fact that Tom’s is Christian-owned. I don’t know why that would make any difference in the way you eat your pancakes?! Jesus fed 5000 with five loaves and two fish. Didn’t see any negative Unilocal reviews from that meal.

Tom’s feels like home. Not your home though. Grandma’s home. Why Grandma’s home? Because it smells like old people and it’s got that vintage diner vibe going on that makes Denny’s feel inauthentic. Like a cheap imitation. Stuffy and awkward but strangely comfortable and familiar. Since the furniture may or may not have been imported by Louis and Clark, you don’t have to worry about breaking it, and therefor you can relax in the chill atmosphere. You are among common people with common problems. Problems like trying to figure out which fruit you should smother over that pancake. Real problems. Grandma, why is there whipped cream on this waffle? We don’t do this at home. Does this 500 calorie mound of butter and sugar really need whipped cream? The answer is yes. Yes it does. The place is typical diner fare. I’m pretty sure the eggs are still ladled from a 5 gallon bucket just as the competition, but they are cooked with a senile love only Grandma can give. The coffee is bottomless(giggity) and scalding hot. You won’t find comparable biscuits and gravy from any other diner in town. The place is full of loud talkers and ringing hearing-aids. Which is great for my toddler since people don’t care about one more yeller, or if they do care they can’t hear him. A local staple, this place is another of Beaverton’s close held secrets.

Stopped by Tom’s on a day trip to the coast, and while it’s a slice of Americana as pure as maple syrup, it’s not a place I’d return to had I better options. The staff are friendly, albeit a bit absent-minded. The host /manager forgot that he assigned us a particular number during our wait for a table, and promptly skipped it when seating other guests. Our waitress said she somehow«missed» us being seated and didn’t show up for 10 minutes. Neither a big deal, it’s just not a place that deals well with a packed house during the breakfast rush. The food itself is decent enough, but it’s a standard gut bomb no different than Denny’s or IHOP. The menu has plenty of options, but if you’re not into a heavy breakfast or have dietary restrictions I’d head elsewhere. I had one of the specials — a Santa Fe omelette — and while it had a nice blend of peppers and the eggs were good, it was covered in a layer of(not great) cheese, and the chicken tasted worse than what you’d get in a can of Chicken-of-the-Sea.
