Preferred Dental Care Center

I went in looking for an honest opinion about a cavity between two teeth. I had been previously told two conflicting theories about the severity of the cavity. Dr. Grasvik and his dental team were all very professional. After looking at the x-​rays, he explained what he would do if it was his mouth. He would not fill the cavity at this point in time but only if it becomes worse. I appreciate his honesty and would recommend anyone else looking for a dentist with their patients best interest in mind. Honesty and Integrity are becoming harder to find these days when everyone is all about the $. That is what makes me sure I’ll be back to see Dr. Grasvik.

This was THE BEST dental experience I have ever had. The staff is professional and courteous. It is a very calm and inviting atmosphere. They have the most state of the art equipment to make your visit fast and efficient. Dr. Grasvik is kind, gentle and a wonderful dentist! I am terrified of shots and didn’t feel a thing with his technique. He walked me through all that we were doing so there were no surprises which prepared me well for what was to come.
I will return to this office and recommend him to anyone and everyone looking for a great new dentist. GREAT EXPERIENCE! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I love how friendly all of the staff is and how efficient my latest hygienist, Heidi was. The office is clean and up to date with the latest technology. I would recommend Preferred Dental Care Center to my friends and family also because of the way they listen and care about any concerns you may have.

Wow, Dawn down there sounds like a real see you next Tuesday. I have had two visits here and nothing but joy. Dr. Grasvik, as well as his staff (are they models? If I wasn’t married…) are top notch. Very caring, understanding, and honest. I live in Salem and I look forward to driving back here. Wonderful experience all around, and I do not just dish out five stars to anyone!

I have delayed in writing this review, as I was waiting to see how this dentist, Dr. Nick Grasvik, would handle the situation. But since I opened a very large bill from his office today and was told that I needed to pay the amount due even though the service was not finished AND had to be redone by a new, more qualified dentist, I am taking the time to warn others about the unprofessionalism and poor work quality of this dentist.
On more than one occasion I was «roughed up» in the chair with his instruments, resulting in numerous cuts and scrapes inside my mouth and on my gums, while he was trying to extract a tooth and trying to start an implant procedure. The former dentist was amazing and I had gone to this location for several years until he sold it to this dentist, not a great decision. There are so many bad experiences that I kick myself for not leaving sooner but the last experience was unbelievable.
I was coming in for the fitting of the implant, which was mid way through this 6 – 8 month procedure. The implant did not fit, was awful looking and Dr. Grasvik kept dropping his instruments in my mouth, could not get the abutment out and ultimately could not finish the procedure. Because I was so nervous every time I would go into see this dentist, (never was before), he prescribed something that was supposed to calm my nerves prior to this procedure. It made me so groggy that when my friend picked me up, I could barely remember what had happened or walk to her car. When I awoke after a nap that evening, I realized the area was swollen and I had a very large cut on my tongue. I had endured 2 hours of this and he still couldn’t get the implant finished and told me I would have to come back.
I was in tears that night and my husband told me there was no way in hell he was letting me go back. I put a posting on Facebook asking for referrals and found a wonderful new dentist. His office contacted Dr. Grasvik’s to tell them I had changed and would not be finishing my procedure there. He asked for the implant to be sent to his office. When he got the implant, he took one look at it and said, «oh my, this is awful» and refused to even attempt to put it in my mouth. I then paid for a brand new implant. This dentist was gentle, took 30 mins to do the procedure and I walked out pain free. Not one single issue. I also had him finish a crown for me and again… painfree and excellent bed-​side manner. Another thing that Dr. Grasvik is lacking. The interesting part of this story is when I was telling the new assistants in this office about my experience, they both told me that 2 recent patients of this same dentist had just switched, citing similar experiences there.
I honestly cannot believe there are 2 positive reviews of this place. Then again when you read between the lines, that’s because they are referring to the dental hygienist and she really is amazing. But I’m sorry, I don’t go there for the hygienist, I go there for the dentist and you couldn’t pay me enough money to step one foot back into Preferred Dental Care.
And how did they handle the situation? No phone call to ask me why I left, no emails, just a beautiful $ 980 bill asking to be paid for work they never finished. Had the experience been even 10% better, I would have had him finish the work and never would have returned. But for me to have left in the middle of the procedure to seek a new dentist, that should speak volumes to you.
Stay clear of this place, trust me, it’s not worth it.

I’ve been going to this office for 3 dentists now. A new guy just bought the practice last month. I’ll constrain my review to the current owner/​dentist.
I keep coming here because the current (and the former) hygienist is amazing. I always wonder about the dentist. I mean I seethe hygienist for 45 minutes and the dentist for maybe 5. So I really weigh the hygienist heavily when I look at a dentist office.
Don’t get me wrong I like the dentist. He seems quite good. I don’t have any issues that require the dentist specifically to do much.
I guess I have good teeth.
Either way I will be back for a cleaning.
