All it’s said to be! Fantastic selection, and one of the employees was extremely helpful in recommending young teen books with specific topics.

Powell’s is a great bookstore and has an awesome selection of used books for pretty fair prices. The store is clean and we’ll organized, and you could probably hang out in there for hours. Definitely a place to check out If you’re into reading and walking through bookstores

Powell’s in Portland is a destination. It never gets old winding your way through the color coded rooms and getting lost in the labyrinthian building on Burnside. But, if you just need to, you know, buy books, this suburban location is swell. On my list, were a year’s worth of American classics for my teens’ 9th Grade English and AP English courses. And it was great that the Literature section stocked both new and used items for each book on the list. Unfortunately, there are no student discounts, but I felt the books were all in good condition and reasonably priced. This Beaverton store is large in comparison to your average local bookstore and it is airy and light. The staff was also helpful pointing me in the right direction.

Best bookstore I have ever been to. You can take and book and read it in the coffee shop next door(which my boyfriend says has the best coffee) like you would at a library. The computer look up system is flawless and I have yet to come across one rude employee.

Even though this is not the famous downtown location, it is still an amazing bookstore. They have a ton of amazing events(like Cary Elwes!!) and since it’s located in a shopping complex, there is lots of parking.

This is a fun little bookstore, with lots of quirky little gift items and such, as well. They have an open reading area for kids and a huge selection of genres. I love the varied prices, since the books are used, so you can almost always find what you want in your price point. This is a great place to go if you collect pop ups, as well. Worth stopping by!

Pros: Easier parking! Not as busy. Cons: Not quite the selection of the downtown location As a big reader, I love Powell’s. It’s one of my favorite things since I’ve moved to the PDX area. However, living in Beaverton, getting to the downtown location can be a bit of a hassle sometimes. Driving through traffic to get there, having to hunt for parking, dodging people left and right as you peruse the shelves. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that Powell’s had a location in Beaverton! A place as hip and cool as Powell’s, in the heart of suburbia? No, this Powell’s doesn’t compare to big brother in size and selection. However, the ease of parking and the lack of busyness makes it a much more comfortable experience. The feel is definitely different. It feels more like a Borders or B&N than it does a Powell’s. Maybe it’s the newer ambiance, maybe it’s the lack of hipsters, or maybe it’s the high number of moms in there with their children. Speaking of Borders, if I had one suggestion, it would be for Powell’s to move a few blocks down into that empty storefront that once was a Borders. More room, not in a dead mall hanging onto life support, and easier to get in and out. Still, good location to go to when I need a book fix.

So many days and nights we end up at Powell’s. We love this place. Today was for beer books. There were plenty for the home brewer and the beer geek wannabes. I ended up with two on beers of the world, and one local«Portland Beer Guide». We usually disperse into our corners of interest and meet in the comfy leather middle plant filled area… and chill for a bit. This is our kind of fun.

I will never buy new books again! I had always been a Barnes and Noble customer until I discovered Powell’s last year. I’m a frequent customer; I would say I pick up anywhere from 2 – 6 books a month at the Beaverton location. It’s always fairly quiet, clean, and organized here. It’s easy to find a certain book, and the employees at the help desk are easy to find if you need any help. They almost always have a used copy of books that I want to buy, which is always the better choice! They also have a nice selection of trinkets and gifts for the nerdy side in you or your friends/family. Great place to pick up a gift! This is definitely my favorite spot to go book shopping.

While this branch is not anywhere close to as big as the one downtown, usually that is a good thing, I mean most places this would still be the biggest bookstore in town. All that said they are big enough to almost always have what i want. That is why I say it is usually a good thing. Big enough to have what I want without having to run all over the downtown site… though that can be a good thing to… sigh. I really like them both for different reasons. This one is «nicer» and has more comfortable chairs. Both stores have staff that remind me of librarians, serious but helpful. Its located in Cedar Hills Crossing so if you get hungry lots of restaurants around but no coffee shop inside. Also lots of free parking, See what I mean how do you pick a favorite? Oh they seem to have lots of Author Readings here though maybe its just there more open layout so I see them.

I know I’m going to get people to gasp when I say this, but I like this location better. Largely due to the parking aspect. The parking lot is big, and it’s free. There’s still a great selection, even if it’s not as good as the one downtown. They can also order books if they don’t carry them/are out of stock and they arrive quickly. It’s a great place to hang out in the constantly dreary weather.

I like this a lot more than the downtown location for ease of parking. Place is huge with nicely organized books. Lots of kids books and toys to look at for gifts. I could spend hours here since they have so much of a variety and I don’t have to worry about parking. It’s conveniently close to the mall and tasty food places. Nice place to spend a rainy afternoon.

Almost my everyday place to go to. This book store is connected to almost any supermarket/restaurant/public transportation and even a 24 hour fitness. If you ever feel in a need of reading books come stop by this place.

I swear I could bring in the original document of the Magna Carta and the buyers at Powell’s Books would still find fault with it or reject it! Done with them– I’ve brought books in that were not mainstream or damaged… the ones that are I get it. No longer worth the trouble when I end up dumping them at Goodwill anyway.

I prefer Powells over B&N. powells seems more spacious and thoughtfully layed out. The store has a great selection of books and interesting non-book merchandise as well such as portland mugs and tshirts and dr. Who stuff(i heard this is popular in oregon). This location has a smaller selection than their burnside spot, but more than enough for most people. And parking is free and abundant.

This location is not as overwhelming as the location on Burnside but when it comes providing ample prey for my book hunting needs, it gets the job done. I particularly like how expansive their graphic novel section is. The only real complaint I have about Powell’s is that the cost for many of its offerings are a good 15−20% higher than Amazon prime and they don’t price match. I am willing to pay a higher fee to help support a local institution but after a point the potential savings matter and I start to feel gouged. I sometimes find myself picking out three or four books and then only buying half of them at Powell’s, and the rest online. In this way I don’t feel that I’m disloyal or a pushover. When it comes down to it this is, hands down, the best Portland area bookstore outside of the downtown location and I obviously recommend it.

I helped a friend work on a project or two this morning, and by lunch we were a little at loose ends, so we decided a trip to Powell’s Bookstore at Cedar Hills Crossing was just the thing. What a great idea. We’re both book fanatics, so it did take some time, and that time felt like a snow day back in school. We took some books to sell and then went aisle by aisle having the best time exclaiming over books and other cool stuff they have for sale(lots of fun gifts for all ages and that would also work beautifully for stocking stuffers). My pal bought a series of young adult fantasy books for herself to read, which she will then share with me — score! I bought a great«how-to-draw» book(dinos, pirates, etc) for a toy drive. The store was not crowded. The clerks were great as always and very kind and chatty. Powell’s may be in the main a Portland icon for most, but don’t forget this store in Beaverton with the same outstanding experience as the Portland store.

Not quite like the Portland location but just as awesome. Thank you for opening a store on the westside. I love Powell’s. Love it. Most of my reading needs can be found here but if I really want to nerd out, I go to the Portland store. It’s Powell’s Portland but on a smaller scale and not as overwhelming. They have a really great Children’s section. Very cozy and kid-friendly. I love the variety of books because a dang good bookstore needs great variety. I also like the merchandise they sell. I like cute, witty stuff that make me chuckle. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I like that there are cozy chairs set up and when you’re done and ready to pay, you’ll see all the little knick knacks and candies on sell.
