Very friendly and helpful staff. While loading, one of their workers noticed a box had been damaged in shipping, so he opened it up. We found a small dent, and the owner gave us the choice of a discount or replacement piece. We chose the discount, and we’re happy as can be. These folks go out of their way to treat you as more than just a customer. Highly recommend Ludeman’s.

So Ludeman’s covers several stores right next to each other. I have never been in the one with the fireplaces… but I love the gardening store. they have baby chicks and they are sooooo cute. I have been here a couple times to pick up lady bugs, preying mantis and to pick out some baby chicks for my friend. Mark(the owner) is a great guy and will try to answer any question you can think of… it is a small store but has a lot to choose from. I enjoy looking at the statues they have outside plotting the day I get an actual yard.

For decades Ludeman’s was a very well run and stocked patio furniture, barbeque and fireplace store catering to the quality minded buyer. The owner is now transitioning to –I’m not sure what — still has barbeques and fireplace stuff. He told me he had closed the patio ship and converting into«healing» products. The staff told me they sold chicks and ducklings, eggs, feed, etc. I didn’t see any. What I did see was a store that was a mess, stuff piled up all over the place and a rude owner — short and curt to customers bordering on sarcastic, and the same treatment to employees eager to help and please. I felt sorry for their embarrassment. The owner said he was going into selling things that were healing — Mark, heal thyself. You come off as someone who is unhappy with the way your life turned out. — you can make this transition with greater respect for your customers, employees and yourself — healing occurs at the level of body, mind AND spirit. I hope you recover soon.

I bought some chicken layer food here since I was in the area and the store that I had intended to use up some time at was closed. Boo! for inventory counting day(I expect the employees hated it too). my hens are loving this new corn free and soy free food. they are eating out of the top of the feeder as much as they can to get this instead of the straggler bits of the old food left toward the bottom where the normal eating holes are located. The food actually looks like seeds instead of compressed pellets. much nicer for me to look at also. I will definitely be returning here to get my chicken feed from now on.

Problems from the get-go. Bought a woodstove, saga as follows: 1. The owner is a freak. Came in with a sawzall and started tearing up my wall. Even his helper was dismayed. No measuring, nothing. 2. Hearthpad failed inspection. Then they tried to blame it on me, claiming I don’t know«triggernometry». I have a PhD by the way. 3. Woodstove handle fell off, legs were clearly from another model. When brought to the attention of the owner, he huffs and puffs and tries to weasel out of it. 4. On the first firing(a small, gentle fire — to break it in) the paint begins to peel off in seconds. A repair guy comes over and spray paints it. End of story. Over time, the color differences are apparent. Stay away and deal with a reputable installer.

So Ludeman’s is somewhat confusing. It lies off Canyon Road, near Watson, and it occupies several buildings. The building right off Canyon is where they have baby chickens, ducks, feed, materials for chicken raising, and outdoor garden stuff.(other buildings a street back have gas fireplace stuff and ??? patio furniture? barbecues? I don’t know, we didn’t go in them, but they look interesting, for sure). Princess and I spotted concrete fountains as we zoomed by on our way somewhere else, so I did a speedy U-Turn, and in we went. We are in the market for a fountain, or er, we were. We have one now. We did not buy it at Ludeman’s. They had a few, but the three tiered number my little Princess loved had issues. a) It was clearly meant for a Mexican Restaurant patio b) It was too big for my petite car and c) the price tag was a bit hard to swallow on our budget. Still, we looked at all the garden art. Little stone bridges, cuuuute. She wants one, of course. We went inside and saw the baby ducks and the chickens. NO touching, BTW. Princess put her hands behind her back but her fingers itched, I could see them squirming. She really wants chickens. Me too. The store also has a sign for Organic Farm Fresh Eggs out front. I think this is a cool store. It’s local. It’s funky. The lady behind the counter was super nice. We will go back. They had flat turtle stepping stones. Sweet.
