Oregon River Experiences

We had a great time! The river was low but we still got wet and both of us got launched in the rapids. Tony was an awesome funny guide and all the guides were fun to be around. This is a beautiful river and a fun trip. Don’t hesitate to book with O.R.E.

I have been on six major outings with ORE — 3 on the Owyhee, the Grand Ronde, the Lower Salmon, and I just got back from running the Rogue with them. Wonderful trips! Expert guides who were obviously enjoying the trip too, great food mostly made from scratch. Everyone got to ride, paddle boat, or kayak as they chose. We laughed a whole lot, too.

We booked this trip for an excursion with our co-​workers in town from India. I wanted to show them a bit of the NW landscape and give them a unique experience to take home with them. Our guide, Louis, was great! He was entertaining us with all sorts of maneuvers and games. I am so glad that we were able to have him. He was extremely knowledgeable about the river, wildlife and terrain. We had an unforgettable experience and it was a great team building event. We floated the Clackamas, which pleasantly surprised me with its fun, but not too intense rapids and beautiful landscape. Plus it is only 45 mins from PDX which reminds me why it is so great to live here. One of our Indian friends (even after falling out of the raft) said «it was/​is/​will be the best thing I did in my entire life». I would highly recommend these guys!

After finding this company by merely googling «clackamas river rafting,» I was surprised at the amount of fun my family and I had during our rafting trip this afternoon. We opted for an afternoon trip on the second to last day of the season. My mom, sister and I have never been into adventurous water activities but this was an experience I would highly recommend to others. Our guide was not only friendly, but well adapted to keeping my mom and I calm in a raft of 5 men who seemed to want to make the trip «extreme.» As neither my mom nor I had ever done anything like this, we were scared initially. We quickly felt comfortable and safe in the raft, especially during the most «intermediate» of the rapids which would normally frighten us. We kept the shrieking to an acceptable minimum and had SO much fun.
Two complaints: 1) because we were the only odd-​numbered party on the trip for this afternoon, we had to split into 2 different rafts. All 4 rafts on the trip stayed fairly close together during the trip and were in view for most of it but we were the only party that was forced to split. 2) from the only other review we read, we were under the impression pictures would be taken of us during our trip. The guides told us it would be difficult to take out our cameras while on the water to snap pictures but there were definitely Kodak moments. Your camera may slip out of your pocket but if well protected, I would recommend bringing it anyway. In our case, we had 4 full rafts and thus needed all 4 guides. No one was taking pictures of us. It’s a shame to experience such beautiful scenery and enjoyable moments without a single picture on the water to remember it by.

Don’t hesitate in booking with this company. We just did a half day run with them (on the Clackamas) a couple of days ago and our experience, from beginning to end, was excellent.
When we requested to push back the date of our reservation due to chilly weather, they were mostly booked for the new day requested but they made it work. Yes, customer service is alive and well, at least with this company anyway…
Our guide (Louis) was awesome and we all (four adults, two teens, one child) credit him for such a fantastic experience. When we weren’t enjoying the gorgeous scenery or exciting rapids, we were playing «the balance game» or jumping into cold water from short cliffs. His relaxed manor, obvious experience, respect for safety (without being overly cautious) and clear instructions were very much appreciated. When another rafting company nearly caught up with us, he did his best to move us along so we could have the river to ourselves again.
It’s all in the details… but they missed one…
When I heard that one of the crew would be tracking us (by truck) and taking pictures from the banks along the way, I thought to myself «those are going to be expensive» and a few days after our trip, they sent us the link and, it was confirmed. We bought 7 photos (downloads) for $ 40. Ouch.
So close to five stars!
