Beaver Dam Country Club — a nice golf course just a little north of the Madison, WI area. While not horribly convenient for me(coming from the west side), it IS a nice place to meet an old friend of mine from the north Milwaukee area. We like hitting Beaver Dam because we can usually find a reasonable rate there. More so, however, it’s a pretty nice course. While on the lake, the holes really don’t run along the water, but it does offer some pretty scenery, especially in the fall with all the mature trees around the course. For us recreational golfers, there are two par-4 holes that are somewhat reachable with a driver. With a good hit, I can drive the greens and get an eagle attempt(getting one last year). Overall, the course has lots of character, with some water coming into play in the form of creeks and small ponds. Several holes get you in a mental argument of which club to hit off the tee, or if you should go for the green on your second shot of the par 5. This is a great location for a fall round of golf. If you’re pretty wild and don’t sit on the fairway much, you might want to reconsider the fall round! The leaves will make it challenging, especially on a sunny day! If this course were closer to home, it’d hit it early and often.
