I love that Chich S. compared Island Traders to a little REI because that’s exactly what I was thinking when I was in there, sort of like a boutique REI.
I went in to get some new Tom’s. Hubs and I brought our bikes to Beaufort this weekend and I only had flip flops so Tom’s were a nice thing to have to walk, bike, and look cute too. The big sign drew me into Island Traders.
Staff was friendly, accomodating despite the crowd that was in at the time. They had a huge selection of items which was surprising due to the small size of the store. It was mostly shoes of many types for hiking, beaching, etc. Great place for items such as this without having to leave Beaufort.

Island Traders was the closest store carrying Vibram FiveFingers, so I decided to make the trek down from New Bern to check out these shoes in person. The store is nice and has a good selection (for not being a massive store like REI or EMS), and the lady helping me was really friendly. The price of the shoes was comparable to those bigger stores too. I definitely will come back to this store; I’m all about supporting local businesses!
