We just returned from a relaxing and entertaining opening weekend at the Bear Valley Music Festival. We stayed at a condo near the Lodge which is very accessible to the music venue. The festival runs over a two week period with an electic program, everything from Schubert to Sinatra. The crowd tends to be on the older side(this is not Bottle Rock or Coachella), but it is a great event for everyone(except antsy little kids) Friday night opening act was the T Sisters, a singer songwriter folk trio from Oakland(beautiful harmonies). On Saturday night Kenny Metcalf performed as ‘Elton’ he definitely got the crowd going, lots of dancing singing and iPhone ‘lighters’ during the ballads. The Lodge offers several before-concert dining options, there was also a BBQ at the venue for $ 15 per person. Wine and beer are sold at the venue and can be consumed in the concert tent. Great weekend in a beautiful setting!

This is about services only: Food for purchase in the Music Festival tent consisted of one table serving made sandwiches and salads. My turkey sandwich was bland, dry and on a huge roll, there were no condiments, not even salt n pepper. The woman serving stated to me twice, «this is our first time, we are trying it out». Well, it is not the first time, there used to be food booths to choose from(what happened)? I enjoyed the music. After attending the first two concerts, I decided to look at items for sale(during the day), particularly note cards, etc. in the Bear Valley Music Festival office. There were shirts but no cards. I asked the woman at the desk where they were and she replied that they were very low on inventory and did not have any in the office(this is two ½ days into the concert, August 2nd), but there was a small selection of cards, etc for sale in the festival tent, but regrettably, the tent was closed today. Why did they not bring these items over from the tent to the Music Festival office? Why is inventory very low at the beginning of the concert season? I went on their website to view the mail order items, posters and note cards and received this message: Uh-Oh! Sorry, there seems to be a problem! The page you requested is not available.
