Was able to get one of NEWDAYFARMS’ products in a shipment from«From the Farmer DC», and I was extatic over it. The sunflower sprouts, are something I had never really thought to try before. It’s been a great little addition to my sandwiches and salads. It’s fresh, well packaged, prewashed and ready to go. It’s been about 4 days since I’ve gotten them, and they’re still crisp and taste great. New Day did a great job with the produce, as well as the packaging.

I would love this product, except the packaging is absurd. In fact it makes me angry, because it is so difficult to open(and re-open and close) the packaging on the microgreens that I feel like they have never actually used their product or tried to understand their customers experience, which seems so basic and obvious to me as a business owner. Truly, how hard can it be to open a package of salad — I would not have thought this difficult! Mind-boggling they have not thought this through more. It’s more than inconvenient, and the shortsightedness means I’ll be pursuing other farms.

I like the product; I’d even buy it again if not for the packaging. Had to wrestle it open – using, um, metal objects. When the top of the little plastic tub finally released, the salad tossed all by itself all over the kitchen counter. I should’ve eaten it at once because the package remains hard-to-open even after the seal is broken. Great that the stuff is near-hermetically sealed until you actually try to eat it.

Also here to review the Microgreen Salad we purchased from WF yesterday! Lovely, fun and good for you! My husband and I shared the salad Sunflower and Purple Radish Blend — adding some radishes, cukes, tomatoes, hard boiled egg — olive oil, salt and pepper… Threw out the receipt so I don’t know what we paid but we will put it up again next time we hit WF! Wonderful that there are people taking the time to create amazing healthy products for the rest of us.

*this is for their product ONLY — I have not been to the actual farm* I frequent the Whole Foods in Old Town Alexandria and came across this little gem while they had a sample table out. The lady had the microgreens mixed with extra virgin olive oil and sea salt. The taste was phenomenal. I have since bought all of the different versions and purchase them whenever I go to WF. The microgreens even taste good all by themselves. I have found myself noshing on them while putting away groceries. They are truly wonderful. Hard to believe they are so darn good for you. Only bad thing is the cost, but you do get what you pay for nowadays. Thank you, New Day Farms, for making such a wonderful product.

New Day Farms is a farm located out in Bealeton, VA. The history of the greens come from Dr. Ann Wigmore, who used baby greens to cure herself of a disease; U of MD researched that baby soil-grown baby plants contain 4 – 6 times more vitamins and antioxidants than mature plants; later on, Mr. Ed Huling and his team then spent years in building a mineral-rich, organic soil for these greens. The farm offers packaged sunflower, sunflower radish, opal basil, and other sprouted ‘microgreens.’ You can use these to make a ‘superfood’ salad with veggies/fruits and dressing of your choice, and it’s so fresh and lovely! They are organic, too! Check them out! :D +sunflower greens: D
