Liberty Hill Pet Resort

My beagle has been here a few times this year for boarding and day camp. She always comes home worn out, which is a good thing. There is a lot of room for the kennels and plenty of room for the dogs to play. This is one of the few facilities, that I know of, that offers a pool for dogs. In the winter they have it covered and heated. I’d love for my beagle to get swimming lessons in the future and I will bring her here for it. LH also offers agility training, obedience training, and other fun classes you can get involved in with your furry companion. I’ve yet to take advantage of them, but I plan on it.
The bad: my dog was boarded here back in July for two days and she came home with an eye infection. I recently boarded her again for 5 nights and went ahead and requested a nail grind. I explained to the lady at the desk her nails are long due to past negligence by her last owner (her nails were so long they curled under her paws when I adopted her). The quick had grown much further down the nail and I’d been trimming them back every two weeks to slowly push the quick back, per the vets advice. Brought her home and found her nails were cut VERY short. I could see in each and every nail where the quick had been cut into. Not happy about that.
For the price, it’s a good place to board your dog. If your dog has special needs, be very diligent with notes and verbal confirmation of what your dog needs.

I boarded lab ‘Otis’ at Liberty Hill for one week in July 2015. When we dropped him off he was clean with no health issues other than him having diabetes and being blind. We called the morning before we were planning on picking him up and the girl asked did we want him bathed ($ 45 bath) and I said yes. When we picked him up that afternoon he was wet and did look like he was bathed, however he had a rancid putrid smell to him. I bathed him again and he still stunk and then bathed him an additional 3 times and still stunk. The smell is worse than being sprayed from a skunk. Took him to the vet and he had a bladder infection and the vet could not get to the source of the smell. I received a copy of LH’s newsletter and on the front page is a picture of ‘Otis’ laying in a pool full of muddy water and drinking the muddy water. There are cattle on the other side of the fence, so there’s not doubt in my mind there’s fecal run off into the area where the dogs run and track into the pool (ie., contaminated water/​bladder infection). Why was I charged $ 45 for a bath when he needed one regardless of whether I paid or not due to being in the nasty water. I’m guessing he went from the dirty pool daily to his kennel without at the least being rinsed off and this is the cause of the smell. I called Liberty Hill 4 times to get to the bottom of the smell, left messages with a live person for a manager or owner to call me back with no return call. After the fifth phone call I did speak with the owner, who basically stated the smell was from something else and couldn’t explain the bladder infection. I can’t prove the bladder infection was caused there, but from the looks of the pool water he was drinking I’m sure it came from Liberty Hill. The owner did offer to give him another bath if I brought him back up there, but I’m in a wheelchair and that’s not practical. I just want a solution to the smell that Otis did NOT have before being boarded at Liberty Hill Pet Resort.

Had previously had two of our dogs there several years ago for swimming lessons. The place has grown a LOT since then!
Have only had our new dog at doggy daycare a couple of times so far, but she seems to love it, and is excited to go there. We’ve took her to puppy playtime on a Saturday (a great deal, BTW), to evaluate the place. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and focused on the dogs. The play areas are quite large, with plenty to see and smell and do, and the dogs seem to love it there. Our girl comes home dirty, and exhausted. It’s a win all the way around!

I have taken our puppy there twice and plan on boarding her while we are on vacation. She made friends, was worn out, yeah!, and really likes going. It is sort of far but they have fenced property and everything seems clean and well maintained. They all seem to love the dogs too.

I have been bringing my dogs to Liberty Hill for daycare, swimming and boarding for years and have been very satisfied with the care my dogs have received. Traveling often for work, Liberty Hill has been a godsend with pick up and delivery for boarding, and my dogs are always so excited to visit. Thanks Liberty Hill Pet Resort for being such a great second home for my pets!
