We almost skipped this place because of some of the bad reviews… and I’m so glad we didn’t! It’s a cool building with great food and great drinks! Our server(Jonathan?.. I think he might have been the owner) was really really helpful and attentive. We asked him for recommendations on the small plates and he did not disappoint. The standouts were absolutely the pork belly and the oxtail. The scallops were fantastic too, and I’m not even that much of a scallop fan. The cocktails were super delicious as well. The Beacon Rose, their signature drink, was my favorite. And Jonathan even made me an espresso martini for dessert. There was a local band playing as well, and I totally understand people’s worries about it being loud, but I really didn’t mind. I thought it was a really fun atmosphere. I think this place is definitely worth looking in on. I know that small plates style places aren’t for everyone, but I would give this place a shot! We had an awesome evening!

So I was in Beacon yesterday for a wedding and we had time to kill before the cocktail hour started, so my parents and my husband and I saw the Vault and stopped in for a drink and a few tapas. The atmosphere is super cute, their is outdoor seating adjacent to the parking lot and they had a bad playing outside as well, which I thought was nice. When you walk in, their is a hostess station and behind that is a bar that looks into a vault. Love when they turn old banks into restaurants. The wall that separates the indoor seating from the outdoor seating is made of brick, which I also love. Indoor seating is a combination of booths and tables and seats. My parents ordered rose wine, my husband had an unsweetened ice tea and I had a cocktail called boticelli’s daughter. The drinks were great(mine was a little sweet-but still nice) and we ordered the beef sliders, heirloom tomatoes, wild mushroom crostini and some olives and crostini bread was provided for the table. The tapas were great, loved the wild mushroom crostini, mushrooms were cooked perfectly and paired great with the shaved parmesan and goat cheese. You can tell the sliders were definitely high quality beef topped with a roasted red pepper(yumm) and how can you go wrong with heirloom tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella cheese? The answer is you can’t, because it’s always awesome. Crostini with the olives were a little tough to bite through, but really tasty nonetheless. If I’m ever back in Beacon I will definitely be stopping in!

Oh, The Vault. My new favorite place in Beacon that I’ll be traveling back for in the near future! We chose this restaurant based on Unilocal reviews(thank goodness!) and were VERY happy we did. It may look simple on the outside, but trust their recommendations(thanks, awesome waitress Jessica!) and their avant-garde menu. Every dish is full of flavor, and their cocktail menu has a great selection of in-house favorites. We chose what has to be some of the best dishes in Beacon: red snapper with purple potatoes and asparagus; brûlée figs lemon ricotta mousse, crispy prosciutto, and port reduction; and OMG – the seared tuna and sobe noodles(absolutely to-die-for). 5 stars!!! So, so, SO good. I recommend sitting outside, all the way in the separate back patio with umbrella chairs for an extra relaxing touch. Thanks, The Vault! Hope to see you again soon.

My friends and I stopped by the small town after a short hike at beacon mountain to grab a bite before visiting Dia Beacon. We were wandering on main st when the live music caught our ears, so we decided to have lunch at this pleasant restaurant. The meal was surprisingly good. The portion of tapas is small. We got a few tapas for share: pork belly, New Orleans oysters, grilled beets, and mushroom; for main dish, we got rabbit with potato gnocchi and duck breast with rice for share. Everything was flavorful and well presented. Pork belly(4⁄5) has a crispy skin and juicy meat. It is well flavored. The New Orleans oysters(4.5÷5) covered in spinach are creamy, fresh, and juicy! The natural sweetness of the oysters are also well maintained. The main dishes are solid too. The rabbit dish is well flavored. It’s a great idea to wrap the rabbit meat in savory sauce because the meat is very lean and a bit dry. Potato gnocchi is soft and chewy. The duck meat is well executed too. Flavorful, crispy skin, goes really well with the chewy creamy rice. Only thing to complain about is that they are too slow… Overall, very decent place.

In town visiting family. Had six different entries on our table and everyone loved them. The bank vault behind the bar is an aesthetic that you can’t create. It’s an authentic look that will look better the longer this place is around. Overall great experience.

2 points: The atmosphere is chill and the food was good. 3 hours for 2 tapas appetizers and 2 burgers is completely unacceptable, especially since the place isn’t that big! Gave this place 2 tries and had he same experience both times. My friend tends bar here and she is even embarrassed about the slow kitchen. The restaurant used to be an old bank and the vault is literally behind the bar but you literally can’t see it. The designer should have highlighted this feature somehow. Went once without ordering food and enjoyed my drink outside. They have the occasional band which is entertaining. I would go back if I were meeting friends or whatever, but it would NOT be my choice. Many better places in Beacon.

A whole lot of hit and miss. Some of our experience here was really enjoyable. The place is vibrant and alive. The staff was generally pleasant. And much of the food we had was really well prepared. But the bar wall, in what is the bar area, but separate from bar itself, is a little awkward. On one side there is nowhere to put your legs if you want to sit, while the other side is great, with a large opening for ones legs. I had two of their mixed drinks before switching over to beer. The first one was excellent, the second nearly undrinkable. We also had four of their appetizers. Pretty much the same deal, two of them were exceptional. The other two, well, I just hope the menu is a work in progress.

Too new for a great review! $$$$ but worth it! Reservations recommended! Serve staff is warm and welcoming! This is a tapas place, they have a dinner menu, again $$$$, you could say a fancy farm to table. Definitely a must try but expect a wait or to be turned away without reservations.

Since we have lived in the area, a lot of different places have come and gone from this location. The building is definitely interesting and is a nice place to hang out. Unfortunately, I think this will be another place that comes and goes for the following reasons. 1. The Details: We sat at the bar which looks into the old bank vault. It would be very cool except cases of bud light are stacked on the floor so it now looks like you are looking into their storage closet. Next, all the pictures above the bar are stylized pictures of bank vaults, they would be really cool except they are all crooked. The bar has the glasses to match the taps but they don’t bother matching them. It seems like nit picky stuff but if a restaurant cannot get the details right in the front of the house, it makes you wonder what’s happening in the kitchen. 2. We ordered four tapas plates. The sliders did not come out on mini buns but were placed on a store bought hamburger bun that was cut in half. The wild mushrooms were tasty but nearly impossible to eat with the crostini provided. The dried scallops were very tasty and well presented though. 3. They had a singer and guitar player who were very talented. However, the inside is mainly brick so the sound reverberates making it almost impossible to hold a conversation. If anyone was paying attention, they would have turned down the singer so she would create a pleasant ambiance instead of a folk rock concert. This place has potential but for the price, you are expecting an experience not just a meal. The recipes are good but good food is not enough. Let’s hope the owners at The Vault start thinking that way.

It was a surprisingly fantastic meal we had at the Vault. We went in reading great reviews but did not expect the food to be as fantastic as it was, what a great surprise it was for us. We highly highly recommend the buttermilk calamari and salmon and quinoa. Great flavors perfectly cooked and super fresh produce, amazing!

Well, let me just start by saying I was a bit surprised by the excellence of this place. Allured by the lovely menu and cocktails, I expected a good meal, but I was blown away by the quality, service, and flavor here. The oysters were blue point, with an amazing custom champagne mignonette with red chilies. The cocktails were fabulous: the Beacon Rose was smooth and a bit tangy, while the Tarragon 75 was perfectly boozy in a nice balance with the sparkling wine. The duck dish was absolutely spectacular, a perfect mix of rich, succulent, soft, crispy, smoked, etc… The scallops were likewise excellent, even if the rice needed a little more spice. Our second round of drinks with our entrees were even more spectacular. The Root Beer Old Fashioned is no kiddie diluted drink, it is a perfectly balanced sweet Manhattan. The Little Peach is not so childish as it sounds, it is smooth and excellent. What else can I say? Amazing service, wonderful owner, great chef and great drinks. 5 star+

The food and service were very good, we shared few tapas plates to «sample» different things. Seared scallops and crispy pork belly tapas were excellent — taste and presentation. Just expect a very small portions for anything on a first page of the menu. Will be back to try their entries. If they are as good quality as tapas, it worth the price, but overall it would be too expensive for us to visit frequently. More like special occasion.

A+ tapas offering. Great choices and first class service. Reminds me of The Purple Pig in Chicago.

We had a super great experience at this place. The waiter was fully knowledgeable of the ingredients used. Albeit this joint is pricey, Tapas are small plates(Small) they also offer full plates, specials and a burger. We had everything, and the food was top! Oysters, Clams, Cold shrimp, Tapas(calamari, corn fritters were the best I ever had) a burger, half order of of pasta carbonera, and seared scallops. Yes we went crazy and had dessert as well. I’ll give 5 stRs when the kitchen picks up the pace. It was a slow night and they were a bit slow on the cold seafood and Tapas.

The Unilocal community continues to lead me to wonderful new experiences that I may not have found otherwise, and for that, I am grateful. The reviews on this place hit the nail on the head, and I’m wondering why I hadn’t stopped into The Vault sooner. Walking in with a couple of friends, we were immediately greeted by a very friendly waitress. We opted to go belly-up at the bar, as a couple of drinks were in order. The bartender, John — who was also the owner — was exceptional. He was engaging with his conversation, treating us as if we had been sitting in those stools for years, which made for a very friendly experience. We took down a couple of drinks(I could’ve taken a bath in a vat of a giant Root Beer Old Fashioned they were so good), then I ordered a Meiller’s Farm Pork Chop and wasted zero time ravaging the meat down to the bone. The meat damn-near melted in my mouth it was so tender; excellent. While this was my maiden voyage to The Vault, it will most certainly not be my last. I highly recommend this place, and am now looking for an answer as to why I had never been here before.

Great place saw it on Unilocal looking for a place for our anniversary dinner. Staff was very welcoming and the ambiance was very romantic. We had Jonathan as a waiter he was very accommodating and he had very good suggestions for food and drink. We got the salmon and the grass fed steak. One word to describe the food and tapas was AMAZING. Steak was so juicy and the salmon was tender and melted in your mouth. Definitely worth the price. Drinks were really good.

We stopped here after a day at the flea markets, we were hungry and cold and this placed warmed us right up. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, we shared a few tapas, the mushrooms and garlic shrimp were excellent, thai mussels were ok, beef sliders were awesome and the main dish — chicken/asparagus was amazing. Have to mention their selection of wine — as a NYC snob«out in the country» I was pleasantly surprised. Anytime we are in the area, we are stopping here to eat. Great place!

Thank you John for bringing your fabulous Tapas restaurant to Beacon. Every tapas we had was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed the Eggplant tomato soup, Red wine braised lamb slider, Porkbelly with Apple-bourbon glaze, Fried calamari, Baby kale Caesar with goat cheese Mesclun greens with cherry tomato glazed walnut and goat cheese, Brûléed Fig lemon ricotta mousse, Cannellini bean crostini with bacon & parmigian cheese and the warm pumpkin pie for dessert – Delicious! Absolutely, no kidding everything was delicious. Best wishes on your success. We’ll be back soon. Bringing both friends and family to enjoy as we did.
