More so that any other library, this library got me through some tough times when I was growing up. I’m a bookworm, and I love words and literature and everything that has to do with it. Without a fail, every two weeks I’d come(with or without family members) to the library to raid the shelves for escape. Whether it was the classics, mystery, modern lit, sci-fi, fantasy or revisiting old favorites — I was able to get them here. Not to mention I was one of those pushy subscribers that insisted on using the inter-library loan system if they didn’t have a book. I also hassled the checkout ladies because I usually took out 30 books at a time and they weren’t to happy about doing their jobs. Oh dour ladies of the checkout desk — how I thank ye! Libraries are great. Everyone should check out a book now and again to keep them rolling on so that future bookworms can hassle checkout ladies.

I felt the need to review this library because it was a major part of my childhood. The location is convenient — right behind the Bay Terrace Shopping Center off of Bell Blvd — and street parking is not hard to find. The library itself is divided in half with the childrens’ section on the right and the adults’ section on the left. Everything is pretty well organized and the staff members have always been helpful. After a recent visit I learned that they upgraded to the self-service checkout so if you’re in a hurry you can skip the line and check yourself out. Finally, as a smaller library, it tends not to get too crowded, which makes it an ideal spot if you’re looking to not be bothered but on the flip side you might not find everything you’re looking for. So if you’re looking for a specific book, I’d suggest checking on the Queens Library website before you make the trip.
