This review is based on a phone call. I called the office to schedule an appointment. The woman who answered the phone was very curt and unfriendly, bordering on rude. I’m not asking for her to be my friend, but at least try to be somewhat pleasant when you answer the phone. I don’t need your hostility! She told me that the next available appointment is not for another 3+ months. I need to wait 14 weeks for the next available appointment. Whoa!!! Would’ve been nice for her to offer to put me on a waiting list in case someone cancels their appointment. But she didn’t offer. And therefore, I didn’t ask… screw this office. I’ll go somewhere else.

First off, Dr. Leslie Shapiro(the Ophthalmologist) is great. He is professional, courteous, answers any and all questions — no matter how stupid they are, and has great«bedside» manner, sans bed. 5 stars all across the board. Even his optometrist is proficient and friendly. Why the 3 stars? His office clerical staff stinks. I mean completely sucks. How much do they suck? Let me list the ways. 1. They don’t get off their ass to open le door. You’d figure they’d want you to come in but they keep their offices locked and even with me knocking twice they wouldn’t open the door(no buzzer entrance). A fellow patient in the waiting room opened my door. 2. Curt, rude and unfriendly. It’s a doctors office. Its not a coffee shop with roaring fireplace. I get that. But seriously lacking in professional courtesy. 3. Completely confusing billing explanation. They insisted that I pay an extra $ 30 for my eyeglasses prescription. Uh what? I’ve never had a doctor charge me for a prescription. It’s a prescription. You’re not supposed to charge for RX!!! I paid because I wanted to leave and my pupils were all dilated and funky and I was woozy. But once I gathered my brain to its normal state I called to demand refund. According to the doctor that was a fee for refraction test which my insurance doesn’t cover. That makes perfect sense. I even confirmed with my ins because I don’t believe a word of what the reception says now. Overall, I’d still go to see Dr. Shapiro. He was recommended to me by my MD(who I completely adore) and after his assessment of my eyes, I have a lot of respect and medical trust in him. His office staff? Not so much.
