This place gets packed anytime of the day, so the only downside is not being able to find seats when you’re really trying to study or outlets to charge your laptop/phone. Besides that, free wifi, amazing coffee, and macarons what more can you ask for?

Every time I go out to Bayside, I come to this place thinking that it’s the first time I’ve ever been there. And then I walk in, see the big mural of the different types of coffee, and go «ahhh. I remember now.» Bean & Bean is a staple in the Bayside neighborhood and really stands out with their excellent coffee. I’ve had their ice red eyes, hot lattes, and ice tea. Everything I’ve had here has been delicious, and there’s nothing I can really complain about. There’s ample parking, and plenty of space inside too. It’s perfect for when you need to pick up 8 different coffees for a group of friends after camping, or if you’re looking for somewhere to hang out and catch up with an old friend.

Medium is more like a small and small an extra small… The ice coffee is really good. They have a nice variety of coffee beans which is cool– you can mix it up and… voila, you’ll have your own signature blend! The place has a neat vibe sort of industrial with wood and metal tables, exposed brick/cement walls and an open ceiling where you can see pipes and air conditioning vents. They have free wifi, gelato and some pastries… They also have bagels but they’ll only toast it and give you the butter/cream cheese on the side– you have to put on yourself. The woman behind the register was nice but the person preparing the coffee was a bit rude. He placed my coffee on the counter and didn’t even call it out. I asked him if it was mine and he seemed bothered to have to answer. I said thank you and he just looked away– not nice dude, it doesn’t cost anything to be nice but being a jerk does!(no more business or perhaps your job!) Overall, cool spot! I’ll be back– the coffee has such a rich flavor!

Hipster/industrial feel to this place! Good vibes as well. I came here to study with friends. This place gets me to be very productive because everyone around you is studying or doing work as well. There is free wifi! it’s good wifi but every now and then it shuts off and you have to reconnect to it. There are outlets everywhere and big wooden desks for you to study on. Take note that if you don’t come with a large group of people, you will have to share the big desk with other people. There are also benches, couches or high tables. They have a ton of different coffees, gelato, tea, macarons, etc. The employees are nice. The bathrooms are clean. It does get crowded because people come here to chill with their friends or they come here to study. There’s a mini parking lot but it’s always filled up. You can drive around to find resident parking or you can just park on northern and pay for the meter. It’s kind of hard to find parking though. I drove around for an hour trying to find parking and ended up parking a bit far.

The atmosphere is super friendly and welcoming. Theres plenty of seating and its always packed with people. Coffees great. I either get the green tea latte which they make with real matcha(thank you) or the mocha. Both are awesome and they are always consistent. The gelato is surprisingly good too. Tried a bunch and they are all super flavorful.

If you want atmosphere, this place has loads of it, but not much else. The seating at this hip little spot was a bit strange. Most of it forces you to be communal with strangers if you don’t come in a large group. If that’s your thing, that’s fine, but it’s not really mine During the time I was there, the only seats free were by the drafty back door. Moving the table a foot or two away would have solved this problem. The staff wasn’t exactly friendly or attentive. Also I got an iced green tea latte that wasn’t mixed properly and so left much to be desired. I’m not from the area, so I was just there to kill time and as such was pretty much trapped there. I’m might go back there in the warmer months, try a different drink, come with at least 2 more people, and see if any of that improves.

I came here to be productive and study for my finals. I got here around 1pm and it was packed! They do have a parking lot but it is small. The lot is shared with other stores and restaurants in the mini plaza. Luckily, a car left as soon as I got there and I was able to score a spot :) Parking around the area is a bit difficult because it is all buildings and a block away is bell Blvd so it’s a busy area. I got a lot of studying done although it can get a bit loud at times. They have free wifi which worked really fast and only disconnected on me once!(I stayed for 7hours.) They have plenty of seating available as well as 2 tables outside. They do have wall chargers/floor chargers which is very convenient for those who bring their laptops with them. A majority of the people here were all studying and working so it does give a good study vibe~. They have a ton of stuff here. Icecream, coffee, baked goods, macarons so you can never get hungry and have enough snacks to keep you going. I had a medium iced coffee sweetened. It was a bit too sweet for me so next time I’ll ask if I can have it less sweetened. The staff here is nice and they keep the place very clean! This became one of my top study spots ;)

A great coffee spot if you live in the neighborhood. Not a place I recommend going out of your way for, which is fine. The place is huge! Dark wooden floors, rustic décor, hip chalkboard menus, and great Wi-Fi! I got to school nearby and I’ve only studied here twice, barely. Here’s why… –Although they DO have a parking lot, you’ve gotta expect there are people in there staying there to get work done for hours! So parking is almost always full. It’s even hard to find parking in the residential area nearby. Your best bet is to use the Meter Parking on Northern Blvd, or walk there. –The cold brew I got was kind of off-putting. It had a funky taste and I drink my coffee black so I don’t dilute it. but this one tasted watered down. Maybe cause it was«organic»? –The espresso shots I got on the second visit saved it though. Nice aroma, and its served in a cute togo cup with a paper handle. All-in-all, it’s a solid place to get work done. I DO like the versatility in seating. They’ve got bigger tables, tall tables with stools that have backs on them, little tables if you don’t want to be bothered and even outdoor seating for when it’s nice out(3 – 5 months of the year in NYC).

I’m a huge fan of Bean & Bean! Even though Korean cafes like Bean & Bean are popping up all over, this is actually one of the better ones. The coffee is good for a fair price. The décor and ambience is fantastic. The Internet has improved and is much better now. The bathrooms are usually pretty clean. Plenty of options for drinks. Great place to study. It’s definitely my go-to spot. So why not 5 stars? 1) The lack of parking here SUCKSSSS. You can circle around and you might get lucky… but it’s pretty jam packed a lot of the time and the surrounding area is really crowded too. 2) There’s plenty of seating, but it’s so popular, and people staying here to work for a while. Sooo… if you come here during peak hours, it can be hard to find a seat(especially if you’re here with a friend or two) 3) A few times now — they do not secure the lids very well to their cups. So if I’m staying at Bean and Bean, I usually ask them to do the Mugs(you have to specifically ask for them). I’ve seen a couple of people accidentally poor hot tea and coffee all over themselves. Besides, asking for a mug also helps the environment. Tip — Don’t go during weekends or between 4 – 7. Peak season is not a fun season.

Seriously awesome coffee spot in Bayside with a unique and industrial feel to it. They have a wide selection of drip coffee as well as lattes and frappes that would likely please any coffee connoisseur. Free wifi, decent parking and a large amount of space to relax and catch up with friends. I only wished that they had more than this outpost and would branch out. Great customer service and quality drinks. Even their brownies are great, when they are available. Love the fact that they have regular milk, soy and almond milk also. Even that other coffee place can’t brag about that variety. Yes, Starbucks, I’m thinking about you…

This updated review is related to the laboratorio del gelato and the rude service from their manager. I usually order 3 scoops and ask them to split it up so that it’s easier to share amongst a big group. I never had a problem with that until today. I asked if she could put it in three separate containers so that it would be easier for sharing and she said she could not. She claimed she’s the manager and I paid for 3 scoops so I’m just going to get it together in one cup. If I wanted to have 3 single scoops then you have to pay for 3 single scoop prices. I asked her how much would the price difference be? She didn’t know. YET you are the manager. How do you not know the prices in your own store. Honestly I’ve never seen her before and never had such shit service at bean & bean. I’m not even asking for more ice cream, just 3 separate containers.

This is my go-to place since it’s so conveniently located in Bayside, when I need to study and can’t focus at home. The coffee is better quality than that of any franchise coffee shop. It’s not bitter, and doesn’t leave that post-coffee taste in your mouth. The prices are similar to Starbucks, maybe a little higher, but is better than Starbucks in my opinion. The wi-fi used to be pretty sporadic, but I think they just recently updated their wi-fi, and it’s pretty up to speed now! During the day it’s pretty empty, but at night it gets really crowded, which can make it hard to concentrate sometimes. The music is sometimes pretty loud, and so are people! So factor that in if you’re actually trying to get shit done. If not, it’s a good place to just chill and catch up over a great cup of coffee.

[An Update] I want to add that the baristas /staff workers here are some of the kindest I’ve met. I mentioned appreciating one of them who gives out a free cup of ice water whenever I need that: All the crew members are approachable, and they recognize your face when you come in more than once. They know who walks through their doors. The seats aren’t the most comfortable here– sitting in the high chairs and tables for too long can take a toll on your body, but working for two hours, at most, is doable. I’m glad that the Wi-Fi is much more smooth here than before. Like I mentioned in my tip about the bathrooms: if you identify as a woman, feel free to use the men’s restroom if the women’s one is occupied. The world will not end if you do this. I’ve encountered this funny situation multiple times: 1. I walk up to the bathroom area, and someone is waiting to use the women’s restroom. 2. I see that the men’s restroom is open. 3. I ask the woman who waited before me, «Do you want to use this restroom?» while holding the men’s restroom door open. 4. She shakes her head profusely and tells me to go ahead. 5. I go and use the men’s restroom. 6. I come out and see that the woman’s still waiting, and now goes into the men’s restroom. The outdoor seating is a major plus, especially during the warmer weather months when you want to soak in some sunshine and enjoy the fresh air.

I liked the place but it was hard to focus on studying because the music was good/loud. They were playing a lot of 2000s alternative music, which I love. =) Friendly staff & pretty big space with a lot of seating… Clean bathroom is always a plus. Loved the chalk art… Loved the environment with visible machines to grind coffee beans… Wished they had more chairs with backs, instead of stools…

This is a really nice and spacious café located in Bayside near Bell Blvd. I’ve been here a few times to either study or just pass time with friends. I know everyone is a huge fan of their coffee but I personally liked the lattes better. I tried the white mocha one the last time I was here and it was made very well. I really don’t like it when drinks are super sweet and this place certainly did not do that so that’s a plus. If you’re a fan of macarons, they offer an extensive selection from macaron parlor. Try the earl grey and passion fruit! I don’t really like the lychee one because it’s a little too sweet. As for their other pastries, if you’re not a fan of crunchy hard cookies, I wouldn’t recommend getting them. This place definitely gets crowded during peak hours so if you do plan on coming to study, make sure you bring some headphones or ear plugs. They have a parking lot but it always seems to be full so my friends and I usually have to look for parking on the side streets.

So you sit down with your coffee and you look around and you see a sea of apple logos and samsung hills, and you wonder if all these 20 — 30 year olds are studying, blogging, Unilocaling, watching movies, listening to music, tweeting, updating their FB statuses etc. One thing for sure, they are taking up valuable space without contributing to the economy of the store. Seriously, if your going to park your butt here and use free WiFi and hook up for power, buy a drink or a cookie. Don’t be a freeloader. Wait, don’t be a mooch. If your somewhere so long that your battery has died on your cell phone or your computer, then you have been there too long… go home. The shop itself has«Our Principles of Coffee» clearly on the wall. The store has made a commitment to the customers to provide fresh roasted organic coffee with love in every cup, so at least buy a cup. Anyone that comes here to just mooch should be ashamed of themselves. Buy something or get out. You add nothing to the business or community growth. Probably some are reading this and thinking, how dare she… who does she think she is… well to those I say, I am probably old enough to be your mom and your mom would probably be less than pleased with your moochy/squatter like behavior. Wait, you probably still live at home with mom because the world is hard and unfair. Get over it and grow up. Your mom would not sit in a retail space and not expect to buy a simple coffee. Why, because its right and polite. Have some common courtesy and stop taking up my air space.

I almost feel guilty for coming here too often — I always complain about their internet being super slow, people being super loud, and how the parking lot is almost always full but somehow I always find myself back here on a weekly basis. I’m still a grad student, so I can probably give you a listing of all the coffee shops/study spots in Queens/Brooklyn area with their pros and cons(outlets, seating, food/coffee, parking, wifi). I have to say though, that this coffee shop is by far, one of my favorites in all of Queens. Despite the internet being almost dial-up status, their coffee is phenomenal(brew, variety, quality, cost), the gelato is on point, and the macarons/pastries go extremely well with your coffee. I’d come here if you’re comfortable with sharing your table space with a stranger though, happens most of the time. You never know though, might make a new friend!

Awesome place to sit, have a coffee, and enjoy a good book. The ambiance is wonderful, could not have asked for more. Well decorated. It has benches, chairs, stool, and tables indoors. It only has benches outdoors. The coffee is standard as you would find at other coffee shops. What you can find in this place is the energy of the crowd. The crowd is young, energetic, and passionate. Once you sit down you would get the energy and feel like doing and thinking a lot in this place… The only con is that it is very cold inside and you may have to bring in a sweater or jacket even though it is Summer outside…

Like a Starbucks but bigger, cooler inside, and more unique in their offerings. Massive interior space(for a coffee house) with a variety of tables, plus some additional seating outside as well. On this occasion, I opted for a good ol’ cappuccino — it was high quality and at the perfect temperature. Paired that with a raspberry bar which was tasty & substantial if maybe a tad on the sweeter side for my liking. I got here around a shade before 9am and it was pretty quiet inside — only 4 or 5 patrons, with maybe 2 or 3 more seated outside. I really like the design, vibe, and layout and can see myself stopping in much more frequently. They’ll definitely stealing a lot of my business away from nearby competitors that I frequent. Their prices certainly aren’t cheap but you do get what you pay for here so I’m not complaining. Adjacent parking lot is a huge plus.
