St Vincent De Paul Church

I got married in this church by father Eric a year ago. He was fantastic, lovely and very thoughtful. He truly is an angel and I am glad we met him. I love this church!

I made my first holy communion here and confirmation. I went to Public School (Horace Mann) so I was an outcast as all public school students were. We had to line up on the side of the steps because we were indeed public school. The nuns were all mean. Except Sr Helen. She was nice. They never smiled. Maybe that is why none are around today. Father Buckley was the Pastor. I recall him being quite pompous. He would enjoy walking up the aisle during Mass just because he thought he could.
When I made my communion, they told never to look at the host as the Priest raised it during Consecration because we might see Jesus. Isn’t that the idea? Maybe we would better off if could have see Jesus, who is indeed all over.
I go to Church everyday (Holy Family, SI, NY) now. I often wonder if (which I believe is common all over) the Church is in the state it is in today because of the stupidity that went on back then.
