It’s packed in here with people buying bread like crazy but it’s good that’s why we keep coming

It’s really quite simple, here’s what you do: pull up in front, park or double park for 20 seconds while you run in the front door(watch your step). Ask for a sausage and pepper bread. Hand the clerk $ 7 and be on your way. Take that loaf home, wrap it in foil and heat it up and eat it. If after you finish it you don’t agree that this place has some of the best bread around, then I don’t know what to tell you.

I’ve been here numerous times for all kinds of bread. Sandwich rolls, Italian bread for any traditional meal etc. This is hands down the best bakery in Bayonne(being from here, one can say I’m biased… but try it yourself to know for sure) and one of THE best I’ve ever been to in all of NJ.

Great, honest breads, at great prices. I know Calandra’s likes to put up all their billboards proclaiming themselves to be the best in NJ, but Altamura’s is much better. Fresh baked bread, lovingly hand-made, seeded or not. You have to give this little place a try! Try the foccacia, try the french breads, try the bastones. It’s a bread paradise!
