We stumbled upon this place while checking out GC towns on a recent jaunt. We got cookies for the car(excellent) and a couple of muffins for the morning plus a loaf of sourdough. Both of these items were also very good. In fact, that was the best sourdough I’ve had since moving to the Magnolia State. Wish we(or they) were a little closer!

Man I wish that I had eaten my lunch here today. Fresh and very home made. Sandwiches and soups mostly with fresh bread. Delicious fresh breads and lots of variety. We ended up with muffins and a few cookies and they are special. The place is small so plan on eating in early or late or get it to go and find a bench on the waterfront. Staff is helpful and very friendly. Since there are just a few people working. They are all experts on the ingredients and preparation of their menu items. We will definitely be back to try some other menu items.

Growing up in the south with roots in NY I must say the biggest downside was fresh bread. These folks know what they are doing and do it passionately. If you have had the joy of walking through BSL you know what a treasure Serious Bread is!

Yes! We popped in on our way out of town. Friendly lady cut samples for us. Two days later the loaf of Rosemary bread(what’s left of it) is still very fresh. Just the right amount if moisture, which tells me they know what they are doing. We may drive over to BSL just for more bread.

Went in to get muffins and bread — they were some of the best I’ve had! All fresh baked. In addition to being extremely friendly, they gave my two-year-old a day old loaf of bread to go feed the local ducks. Extremely nice place to stop for a morning coffee and breakfast. Limited menu — no sandwiches, etc.

Just went in for a cookie and coffee and had a lovely time talking to Vivianne. They freshly prepared coffee for us and the cookies were big and tasty! If I’m ever in Bay St Louis again I will make sure to go in there and check out what they have!

We randomly came across the bakery as we were driving from New Orleans to Destin and started Unilocaling places to grab some breakfast at. This place is a great little store and we’re so glad we found it. The customer service was perfect; couldn’t ask for a nicer cashier person. The muffins and the king cake were both sublime and some of the best we’ve ever had. The cookies were hard and disgusting — can’t win them all.

The cookies are delicious! The bread is the best in town, truly healthy and fresh. And now they have King Cakes! YUM. Grabbed some coffee and enjoyed the café. Nice folks!

D-licious! We stopped by and bought 4 different baked goods to sample and they were all so delicious. If we HAD to pick a favorite — mine would be the flat bread. A must when in Bay St. Louis!

SIX stars! I know great baking, and Al is just brilliant. Coming here is like catching up with friends. Serious Bread is fine art, and everything they do really makes any meal or snack special. They go out of their way to ‘bring it.’ For example, the whole grains are soaked to maximize flavor and nutritional content. Who else does that anymore? I always get sad when it’s all gone, and go looking for crumbs in the bag. Flat breads on saturdays! We usually get at least two. As is now, or as a pizza crust later with any toppings. Other specific what-to-get: ‘the brick,’ sunflower loaf and garlic rosemary all never disappoint. And any muffins or cookies Missy made are always particularly awesome! Everything freezes really well. The baguettes the next day make the greatest french toast imaginable. If you can’t make it there, try most nearby farmer’s markets, especially during local events; you’ll be glad you did. We look forward to the opening of the Not-so-Serious café next door!

5-stars for a bakery? Really? HECKYES!!! What can I say, they are SERIOUS about their baked goods. Healthy ingredients, and heaviest loaves of bread you’ll ever snag. Whole grain goodness, herbs and other variations, and an olive oil & rosemary infused flat bread that my wife wolfed down — ignoring the rest of dinner. And bit of a sweet tooth? Their oatmeal cookies and scones scratch that itch in a second, while giving you more healthy grain goodness to boot.(HIGHLYRECOMMEND both for breakfast as well) Enough typing, back to my bread & cheese. If you’re serious about food, try some Serious Bread!!!

Best bakery on the gulf coast. Their flat bread and scones are scrumptious. The baker and his wife are friendly, helpful and local which helps keep me out of the«big box» stores.

This bread is «as good as it gets». I’m a local and try to buy a loaf or two weekly. They do have a location on Main street Bay St Louis and they also get to several farmers markets along the coast. Their bread is made with the best quality ingredients. I found out the they actually research the benefits of the grains they use and buy them from reputable sources. No preservatives in this stuff. oh and you must try their scones they are to die for.

During a visit with a friend who lives in Bay St. Louis, she took me to see their local Breadman. It turned out to be a very pleasant visit. I got to meet the Breadman himself — Al Jensen. In addition to purchasing some wonderful oatmeal raisin cookies and scones, I was able to try some of his other breads. The breads are baked with wholesome ingredients — I am not sure I even saw a white bread loaf in the place. If you are ever in town, you must stop by here. I was hooked after one bite. Unfortunately we visited on a Saturday, after which I decided I wanted to take some back for my husband but the shop was closed Sunday and Monday(I had to leave on Monday). The shop currently has no website but I did find these two links that will give you a better idea.
