I hosted my kids birthday party at Ambrose park Saturday, May 30, 2015 because of the beautiful play structure and the open space covered in trees that provided wonderful shade and the breeze. I arrived at 7:15 am to get the reserved spot. It was covered in leaves and garbage so I cleaned it up and swept but all the garbage cans were full so I had to go get my own garbage bags to have a place to throw everything away. I did a quick sweep of the park and party area and found 2 hypodermic needles, alcohol containers and cigarette butts. Around 9am a bunch of squatters emerged from the back side of the building next to the pool with their shopping carts and left. Around 10am, 6 squatters came out from the front side of the building next to the pool and went into the bathrooms to bathe and then left also with their shopping carts, dogs and bikes. Around 10:30am a woman driving a silver car arrived and had a key to all the locked gates around and kindly left large bags of cat food and water for all the stray cats and locked the gates up and left. I went into the women’s bathroom and stepped my feet(I was wearing sandals) in a huge puddle starting at the door as the toilets were overflowed and the floor was full of leaves. There are no doors on the bathroom stalls. I was so embarrassed with my guests as some of them went to the shopping center to use the restroom. We were grateful for the 3 officers that drove by to make sure everything was under control. Other then that my 50 adult guests and 30 kids had a fantastic time at Ambrose Park.
