DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bay City – Riverfront

This is a nice hotel and I’m glad it’s in Bay City. The hotel is modern, clean, and homey. My family booked a riverfront room for the 4^th of July, and it was a blast. For Bay City locals, you know this is THE spot to enjoy the city’s fabulous fireworks display, and for years we had talked about renting a room for the big 4^th celebration — finally we did — and we were so happy we went for it!
Our room was on the fourth floor over looking the river with an awesome view of where the fireworks are launched from. It was perfect! Guests also have access to the hotel’s lawn if you prefer to watch the show from the great outdoors. Some of my party chose to stay in the AC-​cranking room instead, but we still wandered in and out of the room throughout the day to the nearby fair and parks. We’d definitely rent another room for the July 4 holiday and I recommend doing so to others who might be considering it.
I’m also partial to the DoubleTree because our wedding reception was held here last year. All of the staff that we encountered throughout the (l-​o-​n-​g) planning process was nothing but helpful and kind to us. We were pleased with the ballroom, the guest rooms, our suites that we used and stayed in (the bridal suite is amazing), as well as the staff.
I hope this hotel keeps up the good work, and I look forward to returning again.

Initially was supposed to spend 2 nights, but had to extend my stay for an additional day after some inclement weather put a damper on my travel plans. My initial room was not available the extra night, but the desk associate put me in a riverview room at the same rate as a cityview room.
First 2 nights, I stayed on the 6^th floor (rooms reserved for hhonors members) in a lovely cityview room that was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The 3^rd night I stayed on the 2^nd floor in a room that was identical to the first, but with beautiful river views.
The fitness center and pool were also in excellent condition, super clean and very empty! Had the facilities to myself each time I went to use them.
All staff I encountered were very friendly and accommodating. The warm cookie at check in is also a nice touch (it was delicious!)
I dined at the hotel restaurant a couple of times and the food was very good. The shrimp and grits were wonderful, so glad the bartender recommended it. Breakfast buffet is a bit steep at $ 14.99, but the offerings is decent.
I second the other reviewer who recommended Brewtopia for coffee. It is very close to the hotel and their lattes are delicious and inexpensive. I had a poppy seed and almond muffin which was very good and fresh. I also recommend Lucky’s steakhouse for dinner. It is about 5 miles from the hotel, but the food and portions were great, plus very affordable!
I would definitely stay in this hotel again if I’m in the area again.

Very clean and nicely decorated. RiverView side provides a great scenic view.
Bar and restaurant attached are very good places to eat or drink.
Hotel placement on the river is excellent and great for a enjoyable walk
