Neal the Barber

The shop is quaint and the barber is nice, but I think they are slightly out of touch with modern hair cutting techniques and prices. Two stars seems harsh, but I really can’t recommend going here and that means it’s under three stars for me.
We were charged $ 18.70 for a kids haircut (and it was a simple cleanup on an already short haircut). Most shops I’ve gone to for the past 10+ years give discounts for kids cuts and they said they think that kids should cost more because they wiggle around (mine don’t, but I know many do; regardless, that’s not how other places do business). At any rate, it was nearly $ 40 for my two boys after a $ 1 surcharge for using my modern payment method (a credit card). I’m not opposed to paying almost $ 20 per haircut; however, I expect a little higher quality for the more expensive cuts.
If you want a decent haircut using modern techniques at a reasonable price for your kids in Battle Ground I suggest going to The Barbers or The Chop Shop. They are fine shops with a cooler atmosphere than some of the other chain shops and most of the barbers seem to do good work (I recommend seeing Shayna at The Barbers). We usually walk away paying just over $ 30 with tip at either of these places for the boys.
If you want an excellent haircut using very modern techniques at almost unfairly low prices and are willing to go a little farther south I highly recommend Kings Barbershop. They charge $ 10 for a kids cut and they know how to do some of the hip new styles with excellent fade techniques. Juan, Ryan, and Junior are all great. I personally see Ryan and pay an extremely reasonable price for a cut with fade, beard trim, and straight razor lineups on my beard and hair. The only con is that the wait can be very long (the place is popular and each barber takes time with every customer; they care a great deal about quality).

We will definitely be back! Brad did an amazing job recommending a style of cut for my 13 year old son. He was very friendly, and the haircut looks great. We also received the punch card and the coupon. I chose to drive 8 miles after seeing the review, and I am so glad we did. We will definitely be back to this place again. Great people, great haircuts.

Neal is a awesome guy! Been cutting over 40 years. I am 29 years old. He gives you what you want, gives you a punch card for a free haircut after 10 cuts, but gave me 3 punches on the first visit, plus $ 6 off my next cut coupon from him, and a personal card with written specs of my chop so he, or his other barber, can give the same exact cut next time! Great stuff! Excellent cut, great conversation, he made sure I was getting what I wants the whole time, and got a free vibration massages at the end. He even asked if that was something I’d like for next time or not, cuz he didn’t want to force you into something uncomfortable. 6 Stars Neal! Keep it up!
