This review is for take out only. We ordered the Zydeco platter and while the food was very good, the total came to almost $ 20. Perhaps we should have clarified how much food came with the platter, but usually I assume a platter can feed two adults. The portions weren’t what we thought they would be. I’d be interested to see if the portion sizes are different when you dine in house.

Not to impressed with the food quality at this location. I ordered two meat combo with a drink. My bill was $ 21.00. Not much meat was provided and the brisket was on the dry side. Two small sides a accompanied the combo. Not worth the money.

Arrived here after very long drive and quite hungry! The potato with grilled shrimp was wonderful and so large, it couldn’t be finished. More importantly the staff were kind, pleasant, and extremely helpful. I have a gluten sensitivity and can eat foods prepared in the same kitchen but cannot have anything that has it as an ingredient. This staff went through their entire menu with me and made suggestions that would be safe for me. I would recommend it and consider it a great find in a strange city.

I’ll be honest and say I didn’t eat here. We stood in front of the register looking like idiots while the guy behind the counter did everything else he could possibly do except acknowledge us or take our order. We finally gave up and went to another place down the way. Not coming back here ever.

The chicken and pulled pork was great. What made the experience fantastic was the lovely girl behind the counter. She was extremely courteous, helpful, personable, and most of all, was instructing a new employee in the most respectful and kindest manner I have ever witnessed. Great job!

On this trip we quickly learned than not all Voodoo BBQ’s are created equal. Last season, while in town for LSU-Alabama, we visited a different location only a few miles from here(on the other side of I-10) and enjoyed the BBQ. This trip, meanwhile, yielded a disappointing experience. While the service was good and the atmosphere is upbeat and inviting(there’s TVs to watch games, etc) the food was below average. On a positive note, the sweet cornbread was our favorite. We devoured it and enjoyed every bite. In fact, we wish we ordered a dozen of these rather than the BBQ. The sweet potato casserole was impressive, too. Meanwhile, the steamed veggies tasted microwaved and there was so much butter on them they weren’t edible. A good BBQ place should have fresh sides. Voodoo chips come in a bag, which tastes like they were made days ago. Serve them fresh and they’d be awesome. We came for BBQ, nevertheless, which wasn’t impressive. Let’s start with the smoked turkey, or leather turkey as we called it. When you hold turkey up on your fork it’s suppose to flop down like a dog’s ears, rather than remain stiff like a stick. The turkey was hard, dry and stiff. This shouldn’t be served to customers. We were excited to try the Cajun Chicken. The chicken was ok, but unfortunately only the skin had Cajun seasoning on it. Once you peeled it off the flavor was gone. The Cajun sausage was the best meat we tried. Regardless, $ 35 was a waste. We took a few bites and threw the rest out. It was at par with Sonny’s or Dickey’s which we didn’t expect when returning to this Louisiana chain.

After a long day of people watching at Perkins Rowe I wanted a good sweet tea. Voo Doo Barbecue was the perfect choice for a good cool drink. I decided to order a 1 meat and 2 side plate also. I was a bit disappointed with the food. The potato salad should be renamed mayonnaise salad. And instead of Gris Gris greens, they should be renamed Glory’s Greens. Despite everything, I will go back again and just try different sides next time.

$ 19 is a little bit too much for three ribs, two pieces of chicken, a cup of red beans and rice, and an Angry Orchard, however the quality is very good.

Where in BR has good bbq? We got the ½ rack and ½ lb of brisket combo. The rack was absolutely delicious and paired well with the sauces, the brisket was dry and could’ve used some more flavor. The brisket, thankfully, tasted slightly better when dipping in the sauce. The chips as a side were good, nothing special. The lady that took my order recommended the mac and cheese, and I was very disappointed. It tasted very milky, cold, and the cheese tasted off.

When traveling with a group of thirty people, you have to choose your places to eat ahead of time. Our group was recently in Baton Rouge and decided to visit this location of Voodoo. I called their extremely professional and helpful manager ahead of time. When our group walked in, the staff was ready for us! All members of our large party had their food within 10 – 15 minutes including ordering time! We couldn’t even get that kind of service in a «fast» food place. Absolutely amazing service. The food was awesome. Our group was asking to go back the next day, and for teenagers, that is a huge compliment. We will DEFINITELY be back!

I love both the atmosphere and, of course, the food at VooDoo BBQ& Grill. I have tried their brisket platter, Crescent City Bur-gah, and jambalaya and have no complaints! The jambalaya has a unique flavor unlike any jambalaya I have ever had and it’s awesome. An interesting side to try is the Corn Pudding. I thought it would be similar to corn grits, but it’s a little creamier with added cornbread, and very good. I wasn’t overly impressed with their White Chocolate Bread Pudding(a little too much cinnamon for me) but it was still good. It’s a great place to check out if you’re in the mood for a quick barbeque lunch.

I love VooDoo BBQ! I love dipping my pulled pork sandwich in the sauce – I can’t decide which sauce is my fav! I love the sweet potato side! Great restaurant before a movie @ P Rowe

Okay barbecue, kinda on the pricey side and they didn’t even include BBQ sauce in my to go order! What kind of BBQ place forgets to include the BBQ sauce? Obviously this one. Also I found a piece of plastic wrap in my potato salad!

Loving this new location and the updated menu… as someone who lived in Texas, I have a soft spot for good BBQ. While I cannot say this is the best I’ve eaten, it’s some of the best in Baton Rouge for sure. The new menu has a lot of things that I’ve either not seen before or just always wanted… for example, the stuffed potatoes and the Voodoo chicken sandwich. Another great thing about this location is the outdoor seating, which can be tough to find in Baton Rouge. For the sports fan, they have an 80″ TV too!
