Holy. Sushi. The rolls are HUGE and packed with flavor! We love trying new kinds of sushi, so we branched out for every roll today and each one was spectacular! Our waitress was phenomenal as well. Our table was never cluttered, she refilled our drinks before we needed to ask, and she was so genuinely nice that it made for a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back to try the hibachi!

Prices for lunch are AMAZING! Food is amazing! Omg love it. But when they do the hibachi they never do a good show. They don’t care. I wouldn’t even go here if it wasn’t such good food and such cheap lunch. Lung is only like $ 12 if that for so much food I can eat on it for 2 days. But when I say they don’t give a good show… they don’t. Maybe for dinner of you’re lucky but not for lunch. Oh and I’ve never had their sushi because I don’t eat seafood so ok sorry I can’t review that for you.

Not very good at all. It’s definitely edible but not fresh! There a ton of other sushi places I would choose first. We have never tried the hibachi. But willing to give that a try. Just not the sushi.

Amazing and entertaining! The food was cooked right before my eyes with such life and flavor and it was enough food to feed a village! I definitely recommend attending for a dinner party or date

Always pleased whether dining in at the sushi bar or passing through for take out. Called in for a late night bite… in and out in less than 10! Thanks Tom!

Had the hibachi steak. They give you a lot more meat than many other places. Good food, good value and no waiting on a Wednesday night.

We started searching for a hibachi grill to celebrate a 10th birthday. I’ve been to Ichiban twice for a birthday and left underwhelmed. The point of going to habachi with especially with children is the show and a little fun for the birthday boy/girl. So we end up at Tokyo café. I tell the server we have a birthday girl, our hibachi chef Yum Yum comes and immediately starts the show the kids laughed the entire time! He played jokes with the kids let the birthday girl come up put his hat on and cook the rice. The entertainment was a1. The food was great as well my husband and I shared an order but it was not shared portions. Much more. The kids plates were also huge same as the adults. Lots of left overs.

My favorite Japanese place in Baton Rouge! I always beg my family to take me here for my birthday because their hibachi dinner is the best! You can get filet mignon, which is melt in your mouth delicious, and you get to smell it as it’s cooking right in front of you! The hibachi chefs are always super entertaining, even though I see them every year and know their routine backwards and forwards! The game they play with shrimp or bits of rice is always a lot of fun, even if you can’t catch it! I’m not a sushi eater, nor is any of my family, but I’ve always heard good things about the sushi from my friends, so give it a shot if you’re a sushi lover!

I don’t know why this place has 4 stars. Went here last night– salmon over done– steak raw– the chef did almost no tricks and stabbed everything in butter. I was up all night with a belly ache.

I was a bit apprehensive about eating at this place looking at it from the outside but when I went in, I was pleasantly surprised! It’s much nicer on the inside, the staff were very friendly and the food was awesome. You definitely need to be hungry when you visit because you will have tons of food to eat if you order hibachi. It was great for a late lunch because my husband and I got our own huge table and a personal chef.(No crowds!!!) This is one place I will most definitely be visiting again!

Tokyo offers both hibachi tables and sushi tables. You can also opt to sit at the sushi bar. I’ve been here a few times and it’s pretty consistent. Make a reservation to come to hibachi at dinner, but their lunch hibachi is a steal! However, they don’t offer the special on Sundays. The sushi rolls are large! A lot of food for what you pay. However, they are pretty standard rolls. No eclectic, wild stuff.

We have been here a few times and always been impressed. Prompt service, quality food, and decent prices. We ALWAYS enjoy the crazy dog roll, and tonite we also tried the lion king jumbo roll, rock and roll, kane naruto roll, baked salmon appetizer, and the gyoza dumplings. The sushi rolls were all great, the dumplings were good, the baked salmon was alright but I’ve had better. All around great dinner experience, and one of my children observed that people might be fooled by how plain vanilla it is from the outside that his favorite sushi place was inside.

I am a sushi fanatic. Ever since Kamado’s on Bennington unexpectedly closed their doors… I’ve been adventuring around to other sushi restaurants in Baton Rouge. I visited Tokyo Café once before in 2009(I think), and I vowed never to look back. Sushi wasn’t fresh, the drink choices were limited and there wasn’t variety on their menu. Fast forward to 2015, my friend suggested I meet him for sushi dinner. I wasn’t expecting much due to my previous experience, but I «happily» obliged. We had the fried calamari for an appetizer; which was disappointing. It was very greasy and the tempura didn’t have the crunch factor. He orders the Salmon Avocado Roll and the Spicy Girl Roll. I orders the Crunchy Roll and Play Boy Roll. Maybe I’m being a bit biased, but I LOVED my choices. Lol Play Boy Roll was salmon, spicy tuna, avocado and topped with tobiko(either red or green fish eggs.) Best part: it was a «no rice» roll. So for those that are looking for carb-friendly options, this is a must try! We opted out of ordering a dessert because we were full, but I would definitely come back again.

We did the Hibachi Grill for my daughters birthday. I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this little place. But you know that old saying … don’t judge a book by its cover! It was one of the best Hibachi’s I have been to. The presentation was entertaining, food was delicious and plentiful! Between all of us we got Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Scallops and so much more. I would definitely go back to this place.

The sushi was great! The chicken was great! The service was great! I’ve worked in food service so I am very picky about my restaurants. When we walked in it looked really busy but we were seated quickly despite that. It didn’t take long for someone to greet us and take our drink order. We got our food pretty quickly and we really enjoyed it. Their California rolls were awesome. The server I had was extremely friendly and talkative she made me feel comfortable. I would definitely go there again.

New to the area, decided to try this place based on reviews and the location. Very friendly staff, they greet you when you walk in and seat/serve you immediately. I sat at a table instead of the hibachi table. I kept my order simple since I was kinda hungry: shrimp teriyaki and a tuna roll. I initially asked for shrimp hibachi but was told you can’t order a hibachi plate at a regular table. First time I’d heard of that, but ok. The fried rice was just regular long grain rice, not the«sticky» Japanese style rice. The shrimp teriyaki wasn’t bad, but was very skimp on veggies. The place was clean and the waitress was friendly. She brought a warm cloth before I ate for wiping my hands before eating, which was very thoughtful. The food was just alright, but I’d come back again and explore the sushi menu more. They had a pretty good sushi variety on the menu, I was just a little too hungry to be daring.

Domo arigato Mr. Roboto My better half and I stopped in at Tokyo Café on our last night in town whilst visiting relatives, and golly gee am I happy that we did. The Hibachi chef — Yum-Yum(no BS) — was awesome and kept us thoroughly entertained. This guy is an absolute magician. The hibachi steak was great and my ol’ lady enjoyed her skrimp. The waiter — Daniel-son — made sure this old man felt special on his b-day while keeping us entertained and properly lubricated(I’m a sucker for hot sake). Any further trips to The Boot would not be complete without stopping by this gem again.

«Hibachi, sushi, squid, negimaki and a friendly staff». As soon as I walked in the door, I was treated with absolute kindness from the host with«how can I help you, sweetheart»? I arrived just before the lunch crowd and sat in the far corner, so I can eat and work some! The waitress was very friendly and was extremely patient with me. Even though I was hungry, I was still indecisive over what I wanted to eat! I was in the mood for a low-carb meal and saw squid on the menu! Then, I saw Beef Negimaki, which was scallions rolled in thin slices of beef and I knew I had to have it! The Beef Negimaki came first, followed by the iron skillet of squid that arrived to my table sizzling! This was a meal to go fork-less and chime in with the chopsticks instead! So, I had to calm my starving belly and dig in! The Beef Negimaki was pretty tasty… I love beef, scallions & teriyaki, so it was a perfect combination! Once the sizzling from the iron skillet of squid calmed down, I picked up a slice and enjoyed it very much! My issue with squid is, if overcooked it could be rubbery… not that case with this at all! So, I was in love with my lunch dishes! I definitely did not have carb-load of food, but more of a protein punch! The atmosphere was lovely here… a little dim, but if you like it for a more intimate feel, it is perfect! Hibachi lovers… looked like a great place for that, too… next time for me, when I am not dining alone ;) If you have a birthday, they will definitely make it known in the restaurant with a drum/gong with their rendition of the«Happy Birthday» song! It was actually quite amusing to hear! * sushi * hibachi * birthdays * celebrations * beef negimaki * squid * Japanese cuisine *

One of my favorite places in Baton Rouge, and not only because it was delicious sushi, but because it was reasonably priced, delicious sushi! I know half the restaurant is set aside for hibachi, but for some reason, I never tried it. Must be because I was so focused on getting more sushi into my mouth. Really, very good stuff, if more than a touch ‘American-style’; this is not traditional sushi at all. Try the Crazy Dog, Yummy, Fiesta, Flying Fish, Moon and Cowboy rolls! Just be prepared to waddle back to your car once you are done eating, ’cause these fellas do not play when it comes to portion sizes.
