I have died and gone to antique store heaven! This gem is now easily one of my favorite stores to visit. Everything is separated into sections«department store» style, which makes browsing so much easier and more enjoyable! There is a great selection of kitchen and dining items(my faves to find!). Everything is labeled with details about the item. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful! I recommend the Bungalow to anyone who loves antiques with a little added flair :)

This place is just so frigging cool. No simple list or review could really capture the whole of why… but I’ll throw down some reasons you should swing through ASAP. The very first thing that should be said here is that you never know what you are going to find here, because all of the stuff is brought in by dealers or the shop owner, as it is discovered/recovered/uncovered — and new items come in every single day. The owner has started posting pictures of the best of the best of the new and sharing the albums on Facebook, which is an awesome way to check out the goods before hopping in the car. If I had to select a downside to the Honeymoon Bungalow, it would be that the selection here waxes and wanes because sometimes, it can be really difficult to find stuff that fits the Bungalow’s vibe, and just ’cause it is old doesn’t mean it is right for the store. It used to be that all the items had to be «true vintage», which technically means 20 – 25 years old, but colloquially gets applied to mean 50s-70s. Recently, they have started offering select ‘retro’ items, which are new manufactured to resemble old style. They also have stuff that counts as repurposing, like turning various adverts from old magazines and cookbooks into light-plate covers, cutting up ephemeral to make gorgeous greeting cards, and melting old records into popcorn bowl shapes and just a whole lot of really nifty ideas that –work-. No matter the age, really, all the stuff here needs to have a certain feel, a pop, a zing, and groove-factor that cannot be measured in years or dollars or layers of dust from the attic. The best part of this is that the Bungalow loves loves loves to repair, rebuild, repurpose and repaint vintage furniture to breathe some soul and funk(the fun kind, not the stinky kind) into the piece. They will paint to order if you buy something, or have a staff member tackle the project, and the end result is always, always something undeniably awesome and utterly unlike anything you will find in another store. And they deliver. How cool is that? The owner is pretty clearly not turning a massive profit on this stuff, but the store has a policy of generosity to the community, going so far as to hold fundraisers for abused and abandoned animals that need medical treatment, donating time and material and labor to various community events, and fostering dozens of kittens throughout the year — tell me, where *else* can you go hang out at an amazing, fun store and be handed a kitten to carry around whilst you wander? The cats aren’t for sale, they just need to be socialized, and the neverending change of customer hands is pretty much the best way to make these kittens grow up into the friendliest and most chill felines ever. Not a cat person? Not a problem; there’s no pressure. For kitsch, this is your place. If you can think of it, they either have it, or will keep diligently searching for it for you, including ashtrays, artwork, aprons, musical instruments, cameras, pottery, magazines, posters, lapel pins and collectable goodies and beer steins and pot holders and hats and lampshades and Christmas decorations and… seriously, the list could go on like whoa. For fun, this is your place; customers have even had their wedding shots taken here, and more than one celebrity has come in and been wowed with the sheer cool-factor. The store does some good trade with the booming movie and TV-show industry — you have probably seen some of the stuff sold at the Bungalow, even if you have never set foot inside Louisiana. I bought some chairs that a movie company wanted to borrow for a movie with Robert De Niro… how neat is that? For a great time exploring new-to-you old stuff, this is your place, and if you don’t find anything you like personally, come back tomorrow — the selection is always changing. If you find something for someone else, they offer free giftwrap using vintage materials like cloth and buttons and yarn and garland, and some truly fantastic creativity. Got a lamp or piece of furniture, new or old, that needs repair or rewiring or just some sprucing up? This is your place. They fix it, fast and cheap. Got stuff you want or need to offload? They do buy from the public, just ask how it works. A simply astonishing selection of *stuff* from the mundane(need a coffee mug from the 60s?) to the«what the hell is that I don’t even» — like a console TV turned into a drybar, or typeset letters from an old printing press, or, or, or… Can’t help it, I just love this place. I miss being able to come by and drift through the nifty«room» themed displays that guide you from Dad’s Garage to The Bedroom.

They have a minimum purchase for credit cards, which is a violation of the customer agreement. The stuff in the shop is ok, but much more expensive than in the prior years and less eclectic.

There are insufficient words to describe how cool this place is. We anticipate making many, many trips in the future to see what treasures we might find. Lots of vintage goodies — lamps, furniture, clothes, books, you name it, you’ll find a bit of it there. They have a great selection of vintage patterns if you’re interested in sewing, and some vintage fabrics as well. The staff were all very friendly and glad to help. I think I could furnish my whole house with stuff from there. OK, maybe not my *whole* house, but a lot.

The Bungalow always has fun stuff to look through, and it’s hard to leave without buying something funky and unique – like a vintage ashtray from a doctor’s office. Their prices are pretty reasonable, and they have a ton of unique little treasures, art and great furniture that sells quickly. The workers are always friendly and helpful. From March-October, the store teams up with Project Purr to help rescued kittens find new homes – if you want, you can carry around a kitten with you while you shop.(They do this to socialize the rescued kittens with humans). Their Facebook is great to check in with – they post a ton of pictures of their inventory, and will even put something on hold for you until you can make it to the shop to purchase it.

Good selection nicely laid out by room type not by vendor. We found a couple things we liked. We will be back. Parking is a little tricky but there is plenty of it around back.

I must admit, I’m a Bungalow JUNKIE! I love this place, for me every trip to the store is like a step back into a time when I was a kid and things were care free and wonderful. I stay in there for hours, and the proof of this is in my house! About ¾ of my home décor and furniture come from the Honeymoon Bungalow. My kitchen looks like my grandma’s orange, olive green & harvest gold kitchen, yet, with a modern twist. I love when people come to my house, they always get big grins on their faces and say stuff like, «wow, my granny used to have one of those!» or «I remember that from when I was a kid!» The Bungalow has the friendliest employees and the owner is so helpful and kind. They also adopt out kittens. I adopted my two«babies» from them and so now, not only is my house made up of Bungalow goodies… so is my extended family! Ha!

Best place in Baton Rouge for vintage furniture. I mean vintage in the truest sense of the word. Honeymoon Bungalow is no mere thrift store. Its not a dusty collection of old crap. Each piece has been hand selected from HB’s network of dealers. As a young guy, I usually find antique stores and second-hand furniture stores way too stuffy. I don’t want my pad to look like I live with my grandma. This place is just what I was looking for. I don’t have any other way to describe it than by calling it cool, even sexy. Some people might be interested in the old servingware, movie posters, and table linens, but I was always on the hunt for furniture. And they’ve got lots to choose from. There are usually 3 sofas, several bedroom sets, and enough end tables & lamps to complete a small mid-century modern mansion. The prices are on the high side of reasonable, but all the prices will be lowered 5−10% just by asking the clerk to ask the dealer how low they’re willing to go. It isn’t up to the clerk and they’re happy to make the call for you. I found the prices to be significantly lower than what Neophobia would charge in New Orleans. I guess that’s the advantage of shopping in the boonies(ziiiiiiiiiing!). And now for the downside: the folks at HB adopt cats and let them roam the store. The cats seem to be in second heaven, but the situation is VERYBAD for my CAT-RELATEDALLERGIES.

Fantastic vintage store! I’d say the majority of the items here are from the 50’s-70’s. It’s mostly housewares such as glasses, dishes, furniture, artwork, knick knacks, etc. If you’re in the mood to go vintage clothing shopping, just walk down the street to the sister store Timewarp Boutique — my favorite vintage store in Baton Rouge and one of the best I’ve ever been to as far as the quality/condition of all the clothes!

If you’ve never been to this place reserve a few hours because that’s how long it will take you to browse all the magical trinkets. I made the mistake of going after I went grocery shopping so I rushed. I felt like I was in the Nabootique. There are kittens running all over the place because they are up for adoption. I almost adopted one of these precious buddies when it was rubbing up against my leg as I perused the impressive and affordable collection of vintage playboys. The furniture is also incredible. I pretty much wanted to buy a house to put all this awesome stuff in it. Tons of old school 16 mm prints, projectors and still photography light kits for you nerds. The clerk was incredibly friendly and cool. I wanted her to be my new best friend. I left with a vintage corkscrew/bottle opener keychain and February 1989 playboy completely satisfied.
