Extremely good! Extremely consistent! Extremely great service! One of the best burgers I’ve ever had! It’s also a very clean place which is very impressive these days.

This place is a gem! My favorites are the different combo platters. I am especially fond of the katsu and bulgogi. Served with the combo platters are white rice and a simple, but delicious(and even crave-worthy), macaroni salad. Everything goes well with some of the spicy chili sauce they have at the counter. I want to steal it. The maui burger is also very good, especially if you love pineapple!

The food was pretty good over all. I wasn’t a fan of the macaroni salad. I’m used to a creamier texture in Hawaiian macaroni salad. The pot stickers were great! The spicy pork was my favorite of the four meats I was able to try.

As a total foodie, I’m ashamed to say that I had never experienced the joy of bulgogi before I tried this place out. I’d also never really tried any foods deemed to be «Hawaiian» since I have an odd aversion to pineapple. I’ve eaten togo from here a few times, so I don’t really be able to speak for the overall dining experience. Pros: 1) Flavor — all in all, everything I’ve had from this place is killer. The bulgogi burger is moist, stacked with an appropriate portion of bulgogi beef and dressed however you like. I’m especially of the mayo-based sauce they dress the buns with. 2) Location — being on the corner of Jefferson and Bluebonnet, two main arteries in Baton Rouge roadways, its pretty easy to get to. It’s not out on its own, in the middle of nothing. It’s part of a small strip mall. Parking is plentiful. There’s a daiquiri place next door, so after you’ve stuffed your face full of culinary goodness, you can go next door and drown it all in some booze. Cons: 1) Size — the few times I’ve been to pick up to go orders, i made note of the restaurant itself being rather tiny. I’d say 10 tables or so? 2) Menu Size — I’m the kind of person who likes options. Though the place is tiny. And it’s nice that they have their specialties, why not expand on that a little bit? I’d love to see a bulgogi taco, or a side option other than potato chips. All in all, I’m totally going back. When that craving hits, nothing but The Cove will do.

By far, Baton Rouge definitely needs a Korean joint. This Hawaiian joint is the closest you’ll get to anything Korean like. However, I walked in at prime dinner time and there was no one there: that kind of scared me. 7 pm on a Friday and no one is there? The place smelled really strongly of mop water. Why would they mop two hours before closing?! My nose was not too happy when I was hoping to smell delicious food instead of service grade cleaner. I went against my instincts and ordered the burger with BulGolGi fries. The BulGolGi«fries» are house fried chips topped with some chunks of meat… No sauce to meld it all together, no creaminess… just meat and chips. Very off to me, it wasn’t the BulGolGi fries I’m used to. The burger had no flavor or distinguishing factor. The gyoza was heavily fried in old oil — I almost barfed when I ate one — and gyoza is really hard to mess up. Overall, I really just didn’t like it. Maybe I expected way too much for what it was? I’m not sure. I wouldn’t come back to try any more. I know that’s probably not fair but it really didn’t make a good impression on me.

Reminiscent of a hidden gem in the city, this place looks unassuming from the décor, but churns out delicious Asian inspired food visit after visit. All of the meats offered with the combo platter will satisfy the taste centers of your brain. Pair this with an eight piece helping of fried dumplings with orange chili sauce and you cannot go wrong. If your eating with a large group, you may struggle to find seating and getting in and out of this area is challenging around rush hour.

Second time to this location. The eating area is limited, but the menu has expanded a bit more than the last time I visited. The friendly ladies behind the counter were super friendly and helpful because I was as indecisive as always! Lol I couldn’t make up my mind, so I was recommended the combo platter(2 meat sides, rice and macaroni). I chose the Spicy chicken and the Katsu(fried pork loin), with a side of fried crispy dumplings. The Katsu was hitting the spot – tender and crispy pieces, that was lightly drizzled with a dark soy-sauce based sauce. The spicy chicken didn’t look so appealing. What lacked in appearance made up in taste! It wasn’t entirely super spicy; more like a nice mellow heat in the back of your tongue. The dumplings were deliciously paired with a sweet chili Thai dipping sauce. I will definitely be back to try their Maui burger, bc I have heard soooo much about them. Their fries are actually homemade potatoe chips fried to crispy perfection!

This might be my new favorite place. On Earth. After eating here I had dreams of paddling in a macaroni boat down a katsu sauce river. Srsly, get the katsu. The T.C. to my Magnum chose the spicy pork, which does not disappoint on being spicy or pork. Another must-buy is the loco moco, but the bulgogi chips put the meal way over the top. The take-out option actually has me tempted to order too much musubi and watch one last sunset in a frenzy of rice, spam and nori. I’m joking of course, there is no such thing as too much musubi.

A nice casual joint serving good food at very reasonable prices. A welcome break from the typical places to eat in the area. Near the rear of the restaurant there’s a TV its not too loud but you can still bring the family and not miss a game. I was too full to try it but I wouldn’t skip on desert looks great!

I have 4 stars selected for this Gem but I rounded up since I can’t put a 3 ½ stars. Yes I’m that guy. To start with the atmosphere, not the greatest. Set up kind of like a whole in the wall feel but it’s in a decent shopping center. It was kinda warm with fans running as if the AC did not work. I don’t know if they are trying to catch that Hawaiian feel but if they were then OMIT everything I just said. Worst of all it was just kind of small. We went during lunch and didn’t really have anywhere to sit 3 people since the two 4 top tables were being used so we squeezed 3 of us onto a 2 top. We managed to get comfortable and the woman working did offer us to sit at the larger table once the previous guests left but we were too busy eating by then. Let’s get to the menu and food. I went with a few co-workers and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the lunch Platter with 2 meats(Bulgogi and Kalbi). You can’t really get these items at many places in town so I’m glad there is another spot I can swing by and pick up these Korean style foods. My meal had good portions and was served with rice and Mac salad. My co workers both had Burgers that were served Hawaiian style with pineapple and bacon and they could have eaten another if they wanted because they were so good. The menu has a nice selection of items and will be back to try some more items. For being the only Hawaiian inspired place in town it’s pretty good. I’ve had better in other places but again, this does satisfy taste wise so I recommend trying them out of you haven’t.

Everything I have at the Cove is awesome! They are the only place in BR that serves Korean food like Bulgogi and Kalbi. The also have Katsu. The Maui burger is really great and the homemade potatoe chips are always made fresh to order and are very good. The side pasta is fresh and tasty. If you are looking for awesome quality food that is unique and very consistent then this is the place. No place in BR is like it!

I have been told by a native Hawaiian friend that everything here is pretty dang authentic. Big fan of the Hawaiian beget and their incredibly yummy, house-made potato chips.

Last night we decided to give this spot a try and it did not disappoint. I ordered the kalbi ribs with macaroni salad and rice, the ribs were very flavorful and tender. I would go back for just that alone. The macaroni salad and rice were okay, not bad not great. Next time I may swap my sides out for the chips and regular salad. My dinner partner got the maui burger and with the Unilocal deal we got the combo upgrades to bulgogi chips. The burger was deeeelicious. It was very juice, plenty of toppings and the sauce completely made the burger. The bulgogi chips were again okay. The chips themselves were good, some were crispy, some a bit more regular fried potato like — always a nice surprise. The toppings however were a bit underwhelming, the cheese was very dry and the bulgogi could’ve been seasoned better and was also on the dry side. As a whole, the kalbi and burger alone are enough to get me back here. Definitely check them out. The service is pleasant and the space itself is nice and clean.

Four people, four different dishes — all incredibly good. Whether burger, chicken bowl or plate, everyone was tasty. This is a must try.

Offers a different twist on typical Asian fare. I love coming here for lunch and grabbing a bulgogi bowl, spicy chicken or shrimp. The sauce they use on the meats is really good. Tried the dumplings before and they did not disappoint. This is the only Hawaiian style place I’ve seen since coming to Baton Rouge. They have a small menu but everything I’ve had so far is pretty good.

I eat here weekly. Simple menu, personable owner and probably ten or so tables. I typically order the spicy chicken bowl, brown rice, and extra meat. The chicken is consistently flavorful. The only thing that I used to dislike is that I’m a growing boy that needs more protein. I asked the owner one time about a larger size and he suggested ordering the extra meat. It’s been perfect since then

A pleasant change of pace in a rather untapped market in Baton Rouge. As a first time, I was pleased with the way the hostess explained the menu. Our party of three each got separate platters, all of which include steamed rice and a macaroni salad. We split the chopped beef, fried pork loin and the spicy chicken. We also added an additional side of the thinly chopped beef ribs. All of the meats were fantastic. Welcome combinations sweet and tangy. The spicy chicken was not overly spicy and very enjoyable. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely delicious! Our table got various meat options to get a taste of everything on our first visit. We got the Katsu(deep fried pork tenderloin) and Kalbi(beef ribs) as well as spicy chicken and the beef options served with steamed rice and cold macaroni salad. The meats were a mixture of tangy, sweet, and spicy flavors that paired perfectly with the steamed rice and macaroni salad. The place is small and offers limited seating so make sure your party is small and or you get it as take out. The menu offers bowls that have the meats on top of veggies and rice, the combo platters with meat, rice, and macaroni salad, and they offer two unique styles of burgers and wraps. They also offer homemade potatoe chips and cakes for your sweet tooth. Make sure you check in before your visit for a coupon for an upgrade on the burger!

The food was pretty great. Well marinated and well put together. The staff was kind and very courteous and a big shout out to the menu. It’s not overwhelming and has the right amount to satisfy everyone’s craving. Though, I wish they sold poke’ here to make it truly authentic and reminiscent of the islands!

I was so excited to find a piece of Hawaii right here in Baton Rouge! Having lived in Hawaii, I was starting to have withdrawals from the lack of Hawaiian food in my diet! Korean short ribs… come to mama! It had been so long since I had this dish, so thank you to those that opened this lovely establishment. Now, I am just missing the mountains, sandy beaches, tradewinds and my experience will be complete. The restaurant itself is not huge, but for a quick lunch break, it really fits the bill! The service was friendly and fast and clean… always huge in my book! Unfortunately, there is no other place(that I know of) in Baton Rouge that serves Korean food other than Whole Foods, Pei Wei & The Cove Hawaiian Grill. So, I come here when I have my hankering for some beef bulgogi & short ribs. Never had Hawaiian food, well it is time to get out of your box and try it! Do you like hamburgers? Well, they serve them Hawaiian-style here… with of course a — slice of pineapple! For those of you that know the Hawaiian’s love for Spam… yes, they serve Spam Musubi. I personally never took a liking to the«potted meat» concept; although, Spam with rice and seaweed is a Hawaiian staple! In Hawaii, my favorite way to have a Musubi was with rice & teriyaki chicken! If The Hawaiian Cove picks this up… I will be in here more often! Anyway, looking for a taste of the island life? Come here!
