The prices may be high, the service may be bad, but they call it the blues for a reason. This is the place to be for down home blues.

As another review pointed out the precursor to this venue was Tabby’s Blues Box and Heritage Hall on North Blvd. Sadly, Tabby has passed away and with him something special. My partner and I went there early one night and ordered mixed drinks. Neither of us could taste the alcohol in our drinks; the soda in my Bourbon and Coke was flat. The acoustics in the venue don’t lend themselves to amplified music. Smoking is allowed but only in the rear behind the stage. We disagree with the price rating and would characterize it as two $‘s($ 11 – 30 per person) unless you aren’t having more than one drink. If you’re there on a night with a cover charge, be prepared to pay $ 10 a head to listen to live music. We loved Tabby’s… everybody loved Tabby’s. Alas, this ain’t Tabby’s.

This was Tabby’s Blues Box back in the day. I love the layout. You actually walk downstairs from street level to get to the bar. Definitely not the norm in a state that is teetering on the edge of sea level. Not much traffic to this place when I went and it’s seems that’s been the curse of this location for some time. I guess it needs somebody rich to come in and advertise the hell out of it. I wouldn’t mind coming back to catch a show. Prices were reasonable. $ 3 Jäger shots on the night I was there.

This place is getting a «4» just off the potential I could sense for a good time here… oh yeah and Jackie the Bartendress didn’t hurt at all!!! Stopped in around 1ish on 10÷18÷13 walking back from a nice lunch… speakers outside the bar was spitting some mighty fine Blues so I said«What the hell» a beer sounds good… Walked in and felt I better duck cause the ceiling was low(not Brothers III low but in the neighborhood)…place is long and narrow with a pool table to the right and the bar just beyond… opens up with tables for seating and a coupla couches… think Josh’s Couch only leather… has a stage and a postage stamp dance floor… even at 1ish with just me and the bartendress this place gave off the vibe it rocks after dark! Wednesday night is a free for all Blues Jam, Friday & Saturday night they have Blues bands in to rock the joint… Didn’t find out what the cover is on the weekends but I’m sure they have one… Saturdays are LSU games and Sundays are Saints games… they adding a kitchen so they can sling grub, smart move… If you’re in the downtown BR area near Lafayette & Florida give this joint a try… especially if you love the Blues
