The food here is pretty good, I will have to try this place again. It’s very low-key in here

I have eaten here three times now. The service has always been prompt and friendly. They have several large TV’s, making it a good place to catch a football, basketball, or baseball game. They have a limited menu, focusing exclusively upon tacos, which I think is a good thing. Tacos are about $ 3 a piece, which isn’t bad. I love the fish tacos. They have specials on Tuesday nights.

Stopped in today for a few tacos on a lazy Saturday. I’ve been wanting to try this for a while, so I’m happy I had the opportunity. I was the only customer which was a turn off, but it gave me an opportunity to really get to know the staff. He was so nice and friendly too! We discussed some favorites on the menu. I ordered three tacos: chicken fajita(just ok), steak fajita(a little better than ok) and the fish(awesome!). It came with rice and beans. The rice was under cooked and didn’t have much flavor, but because the beans were so highly flavored I added them to the rice and had one really good side. I also tried a beer while I was there, it was awesome of course! However, they didn’t have complementary chips and salsa. That’s always a plus for a taco place, so I missed that. Overall, it was a pretty decent place to eat.

Very good taco’s & the mango margarita is great. We really enjoyed dining here. The salsa, bbq sauce, & pico are made in house. The food portions are huge for a small price. Owner & staff very attentive & friendly. We will be back

Was excited to see the website claims of authentic street tacos. The chips were great, very fresh and hot. The queso honestly sort of tasted like the Tostinos stuff in the jar, though. The salsa had good flavor, but was a little heavy on the chipotle and too light on lime/citrus. The tacos were a mixed bag. I ordered a steak, a pork, and a chorizo/potato. My daughter ordered a steak and a chorizo/potato. While they are«authentic» in that they do not, as stated on their website, serve ground beef or hard shell tacos, the authenticity falls short in other ways. Real ‘street’ tacos will completely lack the ‘Americanized’ taco garnishes that Taco Chops uses… canned jalapenos, frozen pepper/onion blend that waters down the carne asada, sour cream, and what appears to be Kraft shredded cheese. With a good street taco, it’s all about the flavor of the meat. A good street taco is garnished with a bit of cilantro and chopped onion, and a squeeze of lime if that’s your thing(it’s definitely mine)… maybe pico de gallo instead of straight onion. The corn tortillas tasted like the type that you can buy in a stack of 40 bagged at Wal-Mart. I want to take a moment to praise the service, though. The guys running the place were very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. They were so nice, and provided such great service, that I feel badly that this review couldn’t be better… The tacos, individually: Carne asada(steak): decent flavor on the meat itself, but watered down by the inexplicably added frozen pepper and onion blend that caused the tortillas to become soggy within 2 minutes of service. Topped off with shredded cheese and a single canned jalapeño slice. Grade C-. Chancho Asado(pork): I was expecting an «al pastor» style taco here, and I was excited to see that it came with«lime coleslaw.» The pork wasn’t soggy, and was tasty. The coleslaw was not crunchy at all, however, and did not really taste of lime… and the dollop of sour cream was out of place with the flavors, as was the addition of yet more Kraft cheese. Grade C+(would have been an A– with crunchy slaw, no sour cream, and none of that cheese). Chorizo con Papas(sausage and potato): Here was the potential star of the show. Who doesn’t love chorizo? Spicy, savory, crumbly chorizo… *sigh.* This taco would have been perfect… with a homemade tortilla and no shredded cheese. Grade B-. They have a good concept here, they really do. And I think they could be one of the top taco places in the city… if they focus more on the authenticity they claim, and please, please, switch to fresh ingredients. These were NOT $ 4 tacos. If the tortillas were fresh, homemade ones… if the peppers and onions were not bagged, frozen ones(or left off entirely), if they stopped covering everything with cheese, and for the love of the Taco God, if they stopped using CANNED jalapenos, this place could rock.

Yesterday, I had to opportunity to try the tacos. Instead of calling in the order, I decided to go in and place the order. I ordered one shrimp taco, which has an up charge of .75 and one Buffalo Chops taco. Both tacos has an acquired taste. I wasn’t pleased with my selections of either one. Either it was too much sauce or cheese out of the bag. So, really there wasn’t really anything special about it, and the tacos were overpriced.

Service itself was five stars. Wonderfully attentive and friendly staff, this is the only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1. I just couldn’t break it to them that their salsa tasted like tomato paste poured right out of the can with a little random spice thrown in. Or that their guacamole was overpowered by lime to the point it tasted like one of those cheap frozen guacamole brands. The quesadillas were lacking in seasoning and overwhelmed by cheese. The only good thing I can say about the food is that the queso was pretty good. It’s hard to mess up cheese dip, though. While I don’t doubt this place probably has it’s strong points, I wasn’t impressed by it. In my opinion, a restaurant that claims to be so «different» should probably offer a little more variety and probably offer a few more home-run dishes… Not just a couple hits and some space fillers. If you’re looking for a nice little-hole-in-the-wall taco place, try Mr. Taco on Airline Hwy, they’ve never let me down.

This was a great little find by accident! On my way home and was lookin for some tex mex to eat so I stopped by. Me and my cousin ordered the chips and queso and were not dissapointed. The chips were mad fresh to order and absolutely delicious. The queso was more liquidy than I would have liked but still a great taste and well done. Cant express how fresh the chips were. I tried the Buffalo Chicken, Porckchop and fish tacos. The fish tacos were wonderfully done. Fried and provided with a nice little coleslaw and cilantro. Delicious! If I had thought that this was the highlight I was clearly mistaken when i took my first bite of the porkchol one. It was delicious and tender. The food was fresh and came with the same coleslaw and some tartar sauce. The buffalo chicken taco was the least good of the three but was decent. it came with buffalo sauce shredded cheese and sourcream, decent. The service was also amazing and honestly incredibly friendly and reasonable. If you get taken care of by a young gentleman with shoulder length hair you will without a doubt be well taken care of. I will definitely be back for more a great find!!!

I hate doing this because the owner is such a nice guy and actually this is the first time I’ve ever updated a review and lowered the stars so I feel really bad. I ate here again hoping that it would be as good as the first time but I was kind of disappointed. Of course, the customer service was great there wasn’t a problem with that I think the problem is more with consistency. We called in a carryout order: 2 Filet of Fish tacos, the Steak Mucho Taco and some Guacamole. The fish in the fish tacos was good but it was definitely better the first time we got it. On the other hand the slaw that comes in the fish tacos was really good last time but was waaay better this time. My biggest disappointment was the Guacamole… it was kind of brownish. It definitely wasn’t fresh like last time. When I stuck a chip in it you could see a difference in the color of the top layer and the bottom didn’t taste the same as last time, it tasted weird and it was a creamier consistency.(like sour cream.) Both of those little places off of Siegen(La Tiendita & La Mexicana) have the best tasting freshest Guacamole in town so I guess I’m kind of used to that. I was gonna call but I wasn’t really feeling well, I already had my pj’s on and I didn’t feel like complaining so we just threw it in the trash. The Steak Mucho Taco was amazing! It had tons of meat, pico and cheese but who knows if it’s gonna be the same next time I order it. I think once this place gets some consistency issues under control they’ll be fine. I’ll go try them again in a couple of months on Taco Tuesdays.

The people here are so nice and welcoming and engaging. I loved the service. The food was good I ordered a quesadilla and was thick and very good. I also ordered beans and cheese was expecting refried beans and it was more like chili. But not bad. They also have a spicy green sauce that they only offer to people they like… so naturally they offered it to me.. It was PERFECT!!! Spicy but not to hot to where you can’t enjoy it. I’ll be back for Taco Tuesday, and for that award winning margarita!

First things first, the service was undeniably attentive and deserves a 5 star. One of the owners, Joel, stopped by to introduce himself and checked on our experience and we chatted a bit, which I find very nice. On to the food, I ordered 2 tacos(fish&chicken) with 2 sides(beans&guac). I would definitely come back for the fish taco! The nugget pieces of fish were so good, I wish there were more! The buffalo chicken taco on the other hand… it was just filled with loads of buffalo sauce and little squares of chicken pieces. It was good but not what I was craving in a taco. Everyone has their preference. The beans were soupy, thought it would be more like refried beans but not bad. And the guac tasted fresh! We were full but had room for dessert! We ordered the churros with ice scream and were not disappointed! So good! Texture was on point and is now one of my son’s favorite dessert!

Great place! $ 2 taco Tuesday for dinner time! Different from most tacos places around. Don’t come here for ground beef and hard shells. Each taco on the menu is carefully thought out and freshly prepared. Each menu item has a story. Owned by 2 brothers from GA that lived in central America and Mexico for many years. Everything is fresh and the tortillas are all natural and locally made with coconut oil. Delicious and very fresh. The owners are very involved and want to make sure your visit is satisfactory. The Salsa and Guac are made in house daily and delicious. I had the fish taco and it was breaded perfectly with a tangy cole slaw. I will be back. I’ve tried 5 different taco places since moving here 5 months ago and these are definitely the best tacos in town. I can’t wait to go back! Thanks guys

Before I begin, let me type my disclaimer. I am a true fan of Chipotle and various other authentic Mexican restaurants. Therefore, I can respect an American twist on Mexican food as well as authentic Mexican food, and for me, Taco Chop’s does not fit in either category. However, if I could give more stars for customer service I would, but my review is heavily weighed on the food, I just struggled to consume. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by two employees and they offered me a seat on one of the comfy large couches while breaking down the menu. I came here solely because I was craving a taco, so I ordered two steak tacos for 3 bucks, which is a deal. As I ordered the hostess informed me that the steak was aged for 21 days to ensure the flavor and all of those other great culinary terms restaurants use. About several minutes later, I was given a white bag, more like a white sandwich bag. Once inside my car, I unwrapped my food and immediately knew it would not be good. For starters, my cheese was melted, overly melted, which any food connoisseur knows this is a good indication that your food as been microwaved to a pulp. Or overheated by other mechanisms that dry out EVERYTHING. So I took a bite and was right, the little steak squares were dry, their was no special flavoring that made my palette dance. Hard, dry, unsavory steak pieces is all I could taste. I am still saddened, but have no fear, I will try some more local Mexican and Latin restaurants that I am sure will revive my taste buds. For now, I am sipping water trying to rid this taste out of my mouth. Perhaps, this is a curse since I gave up red meat for lent, and couldn’t resist ordering steak vs. chicken. Welp…

Had lunch there last Saturday, mid afternoon. Service was great. The fried jalapeños were the best I have ever had. Had the 2 taco plate, the steak was great, but the buffalo chicken was out of this world. Who would have ever thought to put buffalo chicken on a taco. I will make a return trip just for that one item. For sides I had coleslaw, very different, good but different. Also had a side of beans, drunken beans I think was the name, they were a keeper also. Joel, one of the owners checked on us several times and was very friendly . Not a fancy place but the food was great.

Ahhh okay starters I understand that it’s a new place, and I’m not too big on atmosphere. But the atmosphere here is horrible. I hope soon that the place will get spiffed up. Menu doesn’t have a very good description. Our service was average. The rice is basic and the steak taco is decent. But it’s almost 9 $ for a taco and two sides… A little too pricey for me. What I don’t understand is how this place has such great reviews when there’s plenty of mexican resturaunts that have worse reviews that are way better. I won’t be going back.

Small and very accommodating Great to meet one of the owners Joel and the sever Marisa was friendly And personable Of course you have to start with chips and salsa it’s hard to mess up chips and salsa but if you go to as many Mexican places as I you’ll find that some can They DONT the chips are great and the salsa has a fire roasted tomatoe flavor that is great even for someone like me that isn’t a huge fan of fire roasted flavor The steak as ado is flavorful and that is an understatement The buffalo chop is a hot wing taco that blows you away At the suggestion of Marisa I had the rice and beans side I’m not usually a fan of but they did them very well Friendly, Flavorful and priced very well The portions are perfect unless you are a all you can eat buffet person and in that case you don’t appreciate good food and service anyway 3 star review is probably low but, being new there is always room to improve and this way the next time I go I can give an extra star Worth a try and a return trip!

Great food. The buffalo style and the shrimp tacos are real standouts. Fish taco was also really good. We chatted with the owner during our visit. Great guy, loves to talk. Reluctantly knocked off a star(because I can’t do a half star) for charging for chips and salsa when other Mexican joints nearby provide those free. Overall, great experience. We will definitely be back.
