AVERAGE! AVERAGE! AVERAGE!!! I can’t come up with a better word for this location. Average service, average quality, average ambience. Not the worst location in the city, but I recommend not getting your hopes up if you plan on attending.

READTHIS: Every Taco Bell around this city makes you feel like a burden for wanting to eat. THIS Taco Bell is different. They treat you like a human being, the food is hot, fresh and you basically get a normal experience. Not above and beyond your expectations, but how you expect a restaurant visit to be. Considering this is hard to find in Baton Rouge, it gets five stars in my book. I think one time I visited one hour before they closed and the door was locked so nobody could come in, but I’m going to pretend like that never happened.

1970 marked my first visit to this fast food chain. My Dad took me to Taco Bell on Alameda Dr in Houston. Every item on the menu was 25 cents but there were only about 4 or 5 items on the menu. Ahh those special Saturday lunches with Dad are filled with fond memories of the made from scratch everything at Taco Bell. Dad was fond of the Bell Burgers and I always opted for the tostada and frijoles. I used to dream about my next tasty visit. It was sooooo good. Fast forward to today’s dehydrated, preservative infused menu and it’s easy to see why more often equals less. The food hasn’t been the same since the 80s and it just keeps going downhill in my opinion. With all the ingredients and variations of processed food they offer today it’s no wonder this location never seems to get my one item order correct. Drive thru or walk in, it’s a rare experience to peek into the wrapper and find my bean burrito made as ordered. But it does happen on occasion and most staff members are helpful and friendly, so 3 stars for that. There always seems to be drama amongst the staff when I order inside. It kinda feels like I am in a urban reality show. Well there are cameras, so maybe it’s on the dark web somewhere. So why do I eat here at all you ask? Cause it’s cheap and convenient and open late and well you know the saying. You get what you pay for.

Yes, of course my a fan. Whether its 2am and need something greasy to soak up some adult beverages or its 7am when I’m on the way to work, the food is good. That’s right I said it, 7am! Who would’ve thought. Taco Smell is open at 7:00 in the morning! Not to mention the breakfast and coffee is actually pretty good. It is definitely better than the clown’s and the king’s breakfast. Its not Chick good yet unless you compare coffees and then its Taco Smell hands down. Chick coffee is beyond bad. Try their breakfast once, I dare you but you have to make sure you’re in a hurry and have to drive and eat to get the full affect. You’re welcome. I’ll leave you with two final words: Biscuit Taco.

As far as Taco Bells go, this one is great. Very friendly employees, fast service, good food. This was all at 2pm, though. So maybe the lunch rush is different. Don’t know, don’t care. I love me some Taco Bell.

The people who say this Taco Bell is bad have unrealistic expectations. I’ve been to many Taco Bells, and there is nothing inherently wrong with this one. The dining area is clean and the staff has yet to get my order wrong. I go to this Taco Bell about twice a month, and I have never waited more than 5 minutes for my order. My only complaint about this location is that the bathrooms are incredibly disgusting.

The Mexican food scene in Baton Rouge is already in dire straits, nothing like having a crappy Taco Bell on hand to add insult to injury. I’ve had some awful fast food in my time, but this one is right up there. It’s so bad that even being drunk won’t make it taste any better. It’s not even the best Taco Bell in BR. My two generous stars are for the fact the drive thru is open late and the staff, despite being incoherently slow at times, has been nice. Even when the inside wasn’t open to the public, the workers were nice enough to let me use the bathroom. Hello sweet service. The whole setup is in need of an overhaul. Tables are rarely wiped down. They more often than not run out of things(Tortillas? Really?) and the intercom is spotty at best. I would be surprised if their drive-thru had a baracade in it at some point. Speaking of drive-thru, the lines can get long, especially on weekend nights. When Baton Rouge’s rowdiest aren’t storming the Waffle Houses, IHOPs of the city, they’re usually either here looking to score their next Mexican pizza, double stuffed tacos, or nacho supremes here. I would heed caution and recommend that instead of bean burritos or the infamous Doritos loco taco, to just shoot for late night hash browns and eggs instead.

Late hours is a plus but they are always out of ingredients! WTF?! And the line is always long, even if there’s only 2 cars in the drive thru they still take 30 minutes to get your food. The voicebox is always broken and half the menu isn’t available. Save your money unless you have time to waste. The food is good but that’s only when they get your order right and IF they have everything needed to prepare it…

This is the shittiest Taco Bell I’ve ever been to. I’ve been there several times and they’ve been out of beans/chicken/steak/cheese. I don’t know how the hell that happens. It’s on the way back to my place from campus though, so if I’m feeling the urge at 2am this is my only option.

One of the better Taco Bells in town. Taco Bells are so nasty, I cant really eat there anymore.
