I went to get my hair bayalage’d back in November,(it is now almost March) and my hair is still damaged. I have never had a hair stylist mess up my hair so bad. For about 2 weeks after I got it done, I was unable to even get a brush through my hair. On the left side of my hair, about 5 inches just broke off because it was so damaged. I have spent about $ 800 trying to fix it at other salons since then. She left the color in way too long, over processed my hair, and then when she rinsed it out she wasn’t please with it so she added MORE bleach to my already destroyed hair. I was in the salon for 7 hours, and it was the worst experience I have ever had. I have had to cut about 8 inches off since the incident, and it is still damaged. We called to try to get my money back, and they said it is their policy not to give refunds. Other salons have told me that the only way to get my hair back to normal is to keep cutting it off, and just wait for new hair to grow in. I do not want anyone to go through what I have been going through with my hair, so I suggest you do NOT go to Rigsby Frederick Salon.

After months of being somewhat dissatisfied with the place I have been going in BR since moving from Houston, I decided to give Rigsby Frederick a shot. Boy, am I glad I did! Katie does such a great job – probably the happiest I have ever been with my color. She does a two-step highlight/toner process, then trims me up. The only complaint I could have would perhaps be the price for a trim – which is a little much since I have not had a major cut/style there yet, but the cost seems to be for a full treatment. Otherwise, so glad to have found my go-to spot here!

Perfect Cuts. For a long time I never really focused on my hair cuts going to the cheapest options, super cuts or fantastic sams but the last few years I have been trying out higher end cuts because they are more consistent. I started going to Rigsby about a year ago and I love it. They have an inbetween cuts program where I can go for a an in between cut 2 – 3 weeks after my cut to clean everything up which keeps my looking«fresh» longer. I end up only spending a little more money on my cuts here than at the cheaper places and they do soo much better of a job. I’ve had a few hair stylists and all of them have been great. I hear they have some great talent here for womens cuts.

The problem with rating this place is there are sooooo many stylists employed there so some of them may be fantastic for all I know. There are all these levels of stylists ranging from interns to the owner that each have their own price bracket. In any case, my person did an alright job. It was 20ish dollars. I would say it’s about on par with many of the other mid-range salons I’ve had my hair cut at in baton rouge. She may have been a bit overzealous clipper wise but I guess that also means I should have been more vocal. The real downside, not just my opinion from what I gather, is it’s all about the owner. I was immediately given a 101 about his background, his accomplishments, his artwork that populates the salon, etc. It’s too much. Frankly, anything beyond a hello and welcome after I check in(including hardsell on products) gets obnoxious. I want a haircut, not a primer on the owner who isn’t even working on me. I’m sure the workers probably have little say in the whole company vision BS though.

Yes this place is expensive and it’s more of an art gallery than a hair salon. I was willing to look past that if their services were up to par. The first time I got my hair cut by Jackie it was an amazing cut and everything went well. The second time I went in, Jackie had called in sick and no one bothered to call and tell me. I wasted an entire trip to the salon on nothing. When I rescheduled she showed up late that day too(30 mins) but once again gave a great cut, so I was willing to go back again. A good hair cut is so hard to come by, but at $ 60+tip, I expect the stylist to be on time. The fourth time I made an apt, I showed up on time and Jackie was once again not there and running late. The receptionist asked if I minded to wait, I said well if it’s going to be 30 mins like last time, then I will just go to work and come back. She said she would call and see how far away my stylist was… she never did and after about 5 mins I decided not to waste any more time and left. The point is: if you are willing to pay high prices, wait a long time, have zero customer service, and have a no show stylist just for a good cut, then Rigsby is the place for you!

This was my first salon experience in Baton Rouge. I came here for a haircut appointment because my roommate highly recommended the place and I love her haircut. I went to her stylist Emily Tally and couldn’t be happier with the haircut I left with! Emily is a really great stylist and the salon is a cool mix of salon and art gallery. There are wooden sculptures all around. Even though it’s in a strip mall of sorts, I love the greenery outside. Makes the place really feel like a little garden oasis. I love that they offer you a beverage while you’re waiting or getting your hair done. It’s always the little things that make a place memorable! Parking is really great too here.
