Well, I love most farmer’s markets. This one did not disappoint either. While the food section is quite tiny, it has everything you need. Don’t fret if a vendor is an older less tech savvy person that does not take credit card, just get some tokens from the BREADA tent! We got sugar cane syrup(seasonal, only available for a couple of weeks), cushaw pie(similar to pumpkin but paler and whiter color, and seems a bit lighter), and dolmas and tzatziki. All were delicious! All vendors were super nice as well. In regards to parking, we found a lot near by and saw someone not pay. We also didn’t know how to pay, so I’m assuming it’s free on the weekends?

This is a nice stop, outside tent city is shaded by marketplace building next door. which is a nice perk. 75% produce vendor and usual fair. Minimal trinket vendors. Adjoining market place has regular stalls, check out Red Stick Spice booth. Flavored balsamic vineger was tasty. Homemade pasta Dagastinos good selection.

I love farmers markets. The people are great and their produce/meats/food offerings are even greater. It’s not the biggest farmers market I have ever been to, but it is one of the friendliest. Give it a try, support your local businesses.

Wow what a market. This place is amazing! They have a little of everything from delicious goat cheese to wine, and lots of produce. The inside was packed full of people watching a cooking demonstration. He was making ice cream and some variation on popcorn. I was able to score some pesticide free blueberries at a fair price. Be sure to shop around because many produce people have the same items but the prices aren’t all the same. Bring your own bags and help the environment. Highly recommended.

This is the biggest farmers market in baton rouge. The earlier you go the better. 9 am or later and it’ll be crowded. This market offers everything, such as, fresh fruits and vegetables, plants, seafood, farm raised chickens, eggs and even the occasional knife sharpening. There are also cooking demos from locate chefs. The vendors are really nice and easy going. Above all make sure to bring cash but if you forget, there is an atm on site. The Red Stick farmers market is definitely where you need to go to get all of your fresh and local groceries.

I love a good Farmers’ Market and this one is hard to beat. The vendors are all extremely nice and there’s incredible variety — you can buy everything from vegetables to juices to breads, soups, cheese spreads, spice extracts and oils and many kinds of food on the spot if you’re looking to eat while you’re there. Please, please check it out as it’s a cool event in Baton Rouge with great products from people within the community.

Family fun! It’s cool to see what is actually fresh at different times of the year. Our girls love trying all of the samples. If your kids join«Red Stick Sprouts», they get $ 2 to spend each weekend that they check-in. You will also get notified of any fun upcoming events.

«Straight from farms to your shopping bags». Waking up early on a Saturday morning is quite enjoyable, when you can walk into the brisk, cool air… oh the feeling of Fall… I loooove! And I am off… on a short drive ready to frolic in the outdoor merriment of the Red Stick Farmer’s Market! It is such surprise for me to hear that event some long-time Baton Rouge residents have never been to the Farmer’s Market! This was one of the first things I went searching for, when I first moved out here 5+ years ago. The food at a farmer’s market is the freshest they come… straight from the farms, these growers and harvesters themselves worked so hard to bring us their pride and joy. What is the most fun for me is to jump from booth-to-booth to check out each local stand. Offerings can be anything from the freshest produce, high-quality meats and seafood, artisanal breads and cheeses to cooking demos! So, what are you waiting for? Get up bright and early on a Saturday morning and check out the Red Stick Farmer’s Market. On first Saturday’s of the month, the Arts market is added to the existing Farmer’s Market, so it makes for a cool outing with the family. Rain or shine they are there. During rainy days, they are in the first level of the indoor, leveled parking lot of the indoor market. Looking to grab some breakfast, while you are at it? The indoor part of the market has food court area witmany delectable selections to fill your grumbling tummy! * Fresh Produce * Cheese * Breads * Specialty Foods * Healthy Foods in Baton Rouge * Locally Grown * Plants * Desserts * Organic *

I love starting my Saturdays out by going to the farmer’s market. They don’t have a huge variety of vegetable, which I don’t love, but the seafood and plants more than make up for it! I’ve gotten pretty much all of my herbs here for my garden along with a few flowers. I have also gotten frozen shrimp and lump crab meat.

I am so incredibly grateful for the Red Stick Farmer’s Market and it is where I try to get the bulk of my grocery shopping done. I go every Thursday at the Pennington location, but today I finally got to visit the Saturday downtown event. They also have a Tuesday market and a mobile market on Wednesdays but I have not been able to go to those. Saturday is easily the best day to go if you can make it, as it has the most vendors. There are vendors for nearly everything: produce, cheese, wine, pastries, pies, soups, eggs, meats, pecans, herbs, honey, etc. My favorite find today is easily my new milk and butter guy. Nothing beats fresh, local, pastured, non-homogenized dairy and I finally found it. I get my beef from this market(until my bull calf is ready for slaughter); however, I do wish there was someone who offered nitrate-free, uncured pork cuts. But that is a pretty specific need, so I won’t cry about it for too long. If you usually purchase conventional(non-organic/non-local/high-processed) foods from a place like a big box store, you will probably feel that prices are a bit high. But if you usually go for organic whole foods at a higher-end market, prices here are comparable, if not lower. Some, but not all, of the vendors do take debit/credit cards, but it’s mostly cash-only. There is always a tent where you can purchase tokens to use at the market in lieu of cash(there is a $ 1 fee for this transaction, regardless of amount). Tokens come in various denominations, so you purchase tokens in any amount you choose. The tokens do not expire and are accepted by all vendors.

Upon arrival find the goat cheese lady. A visit to her is a must! Her cheese is truly divine!!! The head directly to the bread guy bc ya know, cheese and a great baguette goes hand-in-hand. Third visit is the guy from Tylertown, MS who sells fresh lamb and has goat cheese as well. The rest is up to you. There are plenty of people selling everything from beautiful organic veggies, varieties of nuts, pies, jellies… you name it! Even fresh milk!!! I’m from NOLA and the farmer’s market in the Warehouse Dist on Saturdays is teeny tiny. I enjoyed the Red Stick Farmers’ Market so much I might just have drive up there once a month just because it was so great.

Nice way to start a Saturday! K took some lovely pictures of the fruit, flowers and people at the market, and I scored sweet deals on plants(calendula and snapdragon), veggies and fruits. The produce was cheap and fresh and there was a lot of variety too. Didn’t explore the indoors section much, but I saw that they had tons of typical Southern fare, breakfasts, breads, jams and preserves, meats, pies, seafood, and other stuff. Yes, this farmer’s market is small, but there’s plenty of parking, no one seems in a hurry, people greet each by their first names, and are generally friendly. BTW, dogs/pets are not allowed in the indoors section of the market… they’re welcome in the outside stalls. Also, vendors accept cash or checks. But if you’re like me, and forgot to stop by the ATM on your way here, just go to the coffee booth in the middle of the stall line up(outside) and there you can use your card to get tokens that you can then spend.

This farmer’s market was tiny!!! Well, I’m from the city in the West Coast and everything there is so much bigger in terms of farmer’s markets. But I must say that the Red Stick Farmers’ Market definitely had its perks: delicious pies, organic fruits and vegetables, handcrafted items from jewelry to hats and bags made from recyclable materials, homemade dips and jelly, etc. A section of the farmer’s market was also placed inside a building and there was actually a cooking demonstration! Inside there were food you can buy to eat while you’re there. Maybe I’ll come back here for their gelato!
