My experience here is with the pediatric emergency room. I have nothing but good things to say. Every last person that I encountered was compassionate and helpful. The only down side is that there are not enough beds on the side where you come which means you take a very long walk to the back up area. If you have a sick baby it won’t be so hard to hold them but if it’s your too big for arms child then either your sick kid has to walk or you have to find a way to carry them. Other than that, my experience was a great one regardless of the circumstances.

Their mission is to help the elderly and poor. In fact, they help make the elderly poor. How in the world does a Catholic hospital continue to harass and threaten my 80+ year old parents and have no compassion or financial assistance? How can they note take responsibility for their many mistakes? I’ve asked to speak to the nuns so many times but I just get business people who are good at turning a profit. Here’s the crazy part — Ochsner will work with you and not threaten the elderly poor. Do not go here if you are elderly unless you have a lawyer or doctor in the family. You’ll be pushed out after the 3 day testing profit period and be told its all about the right level of care. Such a disappointment, apparently the Blessed Virgin statue out front is just for show. Sister Kathleen, call me — I’ve been waiting to talk to you for years.

5 Star, but for me 5 is underrated. This Hospital and the entire ENT, ICU Team went beyond the call to bring me from ZERO to discharge, not to hurry along the process, of we need the bed for more patients, of truly caring for the healing. Hats off to this organization.

The couple of times we’ve had to have something done here, the staff and doctors are so friendly and kind. A person really feels like they care.

My experience with Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center was during a blood drive at my employer’s Geismar Plant. I was in town for an Audit, the Site was having a Health Fair, and it was time again to donate a pint. I was also attracted by their promotion of giving away a purple LSU t-shirt, which I thought would be a perfect Christmas present for my son, considering his love for tigers and the color purple. NEGATIVES — The first attempt draw didn’t work as the needle collapsed the vein and no blood flowed. The second try worked, but both arm areas were visibly bruised for several days. I was also inside the Bloodmobile for a very long time as the registration and 2 donation sequences dragged on in competition with other donors. — They didn’t have shirt in the size I wanted, but promised to mail it. After a few months when the shirt didn’t come, I called and got the process rolling again. What I received was a charcoal t-shirt with a New Orleans Saints Logo and NOT the Purple LSU variety as promised. Oy! But since I didn’t tell my Son of the potential gift, there was no disappointment on that end. POSITIVES — The hard working folks on the Bloodmobile were friendly and enjoyable to work with(the bruises notwithstanding). It was also cool to hang out and chat with the other Company employees who were also donating. — It’s always a good thing to donate blood.

Worst Hospital EVER! Unfortunately my daughter had to have emergency surgery and be hospitalized at this place for a week. The nurses sat at the computers and IGNORED the patients. They were so unprofessional and so rude, it was ridiculous, and truly embarrassing for the entire nursing profession. The cna’s ran circles around the nurses, they were more knowledgable and so much more attentive. So thank you again cna’s I greatly appreciate the care you all provided. Avoid this hospital! Post-op the Dr’s scheduled my daughter for a follow up appointment at the surgical center off of Perkins rd. She had an appointment for 2:00pm. We checked in a few minuets early and I asked the receptionist if they were running on time, she looked at me like I had three heads, «oh honey they ain’t never on time». So there we sat with about 50 other people for over 2 hours. Honestly, we felt like we were in Mexico City for a $ 200 boob job. How is this acceptable Louisiana? It’s not.
