Review based on breakfast three times… It’s a hotel buffet. You can’t expect much. Maybe my expectations were just low. High points: fresh fruit, large variety of pastries, omelette station made to order, friendly staff. Low points: tastes like instant grits and sausage gravy, takes forever to get coffee.

Had to pick this place because I was a guest at the hotel and everything but the pizza place nearby was closed. I also had some vouchers. The crab chowder was very good, decent Caesar salad, great Cajun shrimp cocktail and really dry and lackluster filet. Service was quick and accurate.

I stayed at the Hilton for a business trip, tired, I ordered room service. The ahi tuna salad with champagne wasabi dressing and french onion soup. The salad wasn’t anything special, the tuna was medium rare when I asked for rare and the dressing didn’t have a good flavor at all. Salad was a few mixed field greens, romaine, a few tomatoes, oranges, and two or three slivers of cucumber. The French onion soup was terrible! Chicken/Beef broth with onions, white bread, and cheese. Jason’s Deli has better french onion soup. If you aren’t dead tired, go somewhere else!

Poor service, mediocre food, high prices. That’s it in a nutshell. We stayed at the hotel after our wedding and had breakfast at the Kingfish. The hostess looked like she was 12 and seemed very unsure of everything. The waitress was rude and rebuked me for saying that knew they had a breakfast buffet. I mean, honestly, how dare I steal her thunder? The sweetie said his food was fine, but agreed that it was overpriced. I ate only two bites of my egg white omelette. It was under cooked and frankly, just not very good. The potatoes were the frozen kind. The only thing I thought was good was the bacon, and frankly if a place screws up bacon I’m going to skip the review and just punch the cook. This wonderful meal cost $ 40 for two people. For those prices for breakfast, the waitress should have cut our food and fed it to us. If I had it to do over, I would walk across the corner to PJ’s coffee and get 2muffins and 2 lattes and probably still have $ 25 to spare. Personally, I’m just glad we didn’t go there for dinner the night before.

First time I got lunch here(to go) I placed the order in the restaurant. The check came and I’d been upcharged for a side the menu listed as included. Hostess & manager were both unpleasant when I asked about it. Apparently the menu is wrong, that one entrée is an exception to it, and the fact that I wasn’t told when I ordered is not their problem. Second time we got lunch to go, the order was wrong(even though they had to double-check what it was well after we’d ordered). Both times, two meals with sides took well over half an hour to get(with the restaurant being nearly empty). Mediocre food, bad service.

Stopped in for dinner with some friends who were staying in the hotel. The restaurant itself was basically empty apart from a small table of two other patrons. On the upside, our party of 14 was seated almost immediately. On the downside, we were seated in two different groups. Not entirely bad, just surprising due to the lack of customers. The wait staff was very nice and attentive, and took our drink orders quickly. At this point we had plenty of time to look the menu over and make our appetizer selections. We then had plenty of time to decide what to eat for our main course. We then had plenty of time to decide what our second drinks would be. The problem here? We had all of this time because we still hadn’t received our original drink order! Long story short, by the time time all of us had received our salad/soup order(only four salads came from the kitchen in the first half hour) we were beginning to eye the wait staff hungrily, hoping they would bring us something, anything to eat. Prices were a little steep for the food, but it was the wait time that killed it.

I have been here twice, because my company has taken me here. Both times were disappointing. The first time, the server mentioned the salad bar with prime rib. Honestly, it was a devastating disappointment. The prime rib was sat in a hot broth, way overcooked; it looked and tasted like it has been cooked for five days. The salad selection wasn’t good at all either. The gumbo was okay, but it wasn’t worth the $ 15. The last time will really be the last time for me. I had a penne pasta dish. The menu stated that the dish came with a side of fingerling potatoes. No such thing came with the meal. The pasta was really spicy, too much for my tastes, which is saying something. Our company guest, next to me, ordered his fillet salad medium; it was almost raw. The woman across from me ordered the same penne dish with a French onion soup; she received the same penne with a French dip sandwich. The waiter said it was the same thing. Fortunately, she received her soup in the end. The boss ordered a club with no mayonnaise. She received a club with mayonnaise and it’s the second time this has happened to her. Finally, when she wanted a to-go box, they were completely out of them. The food took a long time to cook as well, despite the fact we were the only people in the restaurant.(I suppose there’s a reason for that.) It’s not the hideousness I reserve a one star rating for, but it wasn’t good enough for me to come back.

I’ve eaten here twice, once for the lunch & once for a late dinner. The service was OK, very collegiate. Both of my meals were fine, but dinner especially was high for what it was. Since I ate a LOT of the hotel’s tasty catering over the last weekend, I know the restaurant can do better.

What a wasted opportunity to impress patrons in a glam dining room begging for good food and adventure. Alas, better service at Burger King with comparable food to boot. Popped in for lunch with a business colleague as we walked past the lovely old Capitol House(now Hilton) on our way to an early afternoon meeting. We had ample time for a «soup and sandwich» type lunch, or so we thought. I hadn’t dined in the Kingfish and so wanted to give it a try. The stylish dining room of the Kingfish sets high expectations for a creative menu which immediately are not met. Lunch, anyway, is a standard blue plate menu with sandwiches, «mom’s special of the day,» and a buffet that’s way over priced for the grilled chicken and salad that one can get there. My colleague and I both ordered club sandwiches, but dressed slightly different. The waitress, who possessed no end of self-confidence and verbose cheer, was nonetheless flummoxed by our mildly varied club sandwich orders and I had an immediate sense the orders would arrive in somewhat confused circumstances. Adding to the waitress’ misery was the fact that one of the patrons at the neighboring table also ordered a club, her’s being prepared slightly different from those ordered at my table. Forty minutes later, with our afternoon business meeting now pressing upon us, our sandwiches arrived, in tandem with the one ordered by the next table. Sure enough, I received the neighbor lady’s club and she received mine, although we were not aware of the snafu until both of us had tucked into our meals only to discover they hadn’t been prepared as we ordered. I requested that mine be rectified, but only in a limited way due to time. The neighboring diner just accepted it and went on with lunch. And how was the food, after all that? Not bad as far as a club sandwich goes. It’s very large — I should have shared with my colleague – and served with a mountain of fries, either regular or sweet potato. I chose the latter and found them fairly interesting, but missing something in both taste and character. But, for the same price, Poor Boy Lloyds is a few steps away with far superior food within the same genre. The one thing going for Kingfish is the professional ambience. It is excellent for a business luncheon, as long as you don’t expect professional waitstaff or expedient service.
