Sushi quality is fine, taste is adequate. The real selling point is getting to wheel barrow yourself out of there for around $ 12. Is it worth it? I’m not so sure. I’d almost rather pay more for less, and enjoy the flavor. Almost.

Clean buffet and fresh sushi is always rolling out if you go during prime times for lunch and dinner. They have sushi, Americanized Chinese food options, hibachi, ice cream and fruit. Love going here when I feel like I haven’t eaten in days. I just wish they served seafood, like snow crab legs lol!

The foods are alright but those are really good for someone’s first try for Asian cuisine

Super friendly staff, but that’s about it. Sushi isn’t fresh. out of curiosity, touched the raw meat plates for the hibachi to see if they were chilled, and they were room temperature which is so unsafe and gross. take your money elsewhere

All you can eat sushi that isn’t bad at all. The hibachi is really good. For the price, this place is one of my favorite sushi restaurants.

3 stars because the food is average. The staff is nice and polite. This is a buffet — mainly sushi, 2 – 3 Chinese offerings, and a hibachi cook — but the food itself is average. The sushi is buffet sushi which means to me a little added rice, a little larger than usual — but they do have a few unique offerings which adds character to this place. The Chinese portion appears to be an afterthought but very pleasant. Hibachi has a lot to offer – shrimp, beef, chicken, sausage, imitation crab meat and 8 – 10 different type of vegetables but the offerings are okay which requires the hibachi chef to make it special — that’s tough. There’s also an area for fruit and ice cream. With all that said, this is offered for under $ 12 incisive of tax for lunch. At times this is appealing to me and others it is not but this is meant to be a positive review

Impeccably clean eatery with buffet style sushi and hibachi. The variety of items on both the sushi and hibachi bars is commendable. There were over a dozen different rolls available for the lunch buffet. The hibachi featured beef, chicken, tofu, crab, shrimp, rice and noodles, various veggies and egg. There is also a small section of items such as dumplings, egg rolls, and sesame chicken. Everyone can find something. The staff was very friendly and you can’t beat $ 16.00(with tip and tax) for the amount of food you can choose from and eat. That said, the rolls are very rice-heavy and just o.k. Nothing spectacular. Good for the price though.

I stop here every time we are passing through Baton Rouge. The food is very good and the service is excellent. The staff accommodates our every desire. Although we like the cooked foods and the bbq, we come for the sushi. The sushi is very good and always fresh, and any changes or special roles are always made for me upon request. The LSU role is a favorite for the family. My daughter usually chooses to get a to go box as her meal and has food left to eat for her next meal. It is also nice to be in the college atmosphere, and my kids have a very nice time because they always talk about going to LSU, and it is cool for them to see the students and the athletes. I hope this place stays around, and I would not mind watching my son play football in Tiger Stadium and then head over to have some sushi. Give it a try. If I was not 60 miles away, I would eat there 5 times a week. I can’t wait to go back. By the way, spend a few more bucks on the dinner, it is well worth it for the variety of sushi and sashimi you get added to the mix. After all of this talk about food, I am tempted to drive there tonight. We will see.

I start off by saying they are very friendly. However the food is just okay and the fried rice is horrid. It is convenient to campus and a good price for the selection, but I won’t return.

I visited more than 5 times here. But during 1 and half years, the quality always is the same as under average. I always met any chinese severs who dont focus on my groups, but I am not sure whether I am Asian or not. Anyway, they always chat each other. Thats why I dislike here. I dont want to hear any chinese in US.

Better than most buffets, good hibachi, decent sushi. Not as good as Nagoya. Limited hot food so you basically need to get hibachi unless you want egg rolls, tempura shrimp and fried chicken. Very good price though, $ 12/person. They kept mixing up the hibachi plates though and they brought the wrong food to my friend. He gave it to the person it belonged to and never got his food.

Pretty much the best veggie meal within walking distance of LSU. Probably the classiest place within walking distance too. But hey it’s BR, so the bar is pretty low. Essentially, it’s perfect for impressing that hot TA you’ve always wanted to ask out, but low key enough that you can still bring that classless sorority chick who you’re always taking out for cowboy burgers at the Applebee’s on airline.

I go here all the time. It’s an LSU student staple. Perfect for when you are really hungry for sushi but don’t want to spend over $ 20. The sushi obviously isn’t as high quality as when you buy it by the roll but the quantity, options, and hibachi bar more than compensate. Even my friends who don’t eat sushi like it here. It’s alway clean and fast with great service.

It’s not the greatest sushi in the world, but if you are craving sushi and don’t want to spend a ton, this is the place to visit. There are several varieties of rolls and nigiri(my favorite is the salmon), gyoza, egg rolls, fruit, ice cream, and other items. There is also a build-your-own sort of hibachi grill where you can select your favorite items and have the chefs cook it. Kaminari is decent, fast, and one of my standbys when I need a quick lunch or dinner in the campus area, especially when I am hungry and want a lot of food ASAP.

I prefer Koi Sushi(which is right behind this place) when I’m looking for cheap sushi in walking distance from campus. Koi is not a buffet Kaminari is… I usually aviod buffets. Kaminari has a hibachi buffet which scared the crap out of me. They had cut up raw chicken, shrimp and every other meat you can think of just sittin out. You go through and pick your noodles and veggies and meat then sit it on a rack and take a number and someone cooks it in the order that you set it out… looked like a great opportunity to get salmonella. Anyway, if you dont mind paying a little more Rock n Sake is the place to go for sushi.

I have been to Kaminari twice, most recently on a Saturday night, and both times have been pleasant. I really enjoyed the variety, though it was not as great as some other buffets in town. The sushi presentation at the buffet was beautiful, and the selection for the hibachi was amazing. There was even an impressive selection of desserts, including 4 different types of ice cream. As much as I enjoyed the food, there was one aspect of the whole experience that I found truly remarkable: the service. When dining at a buffet, you typically expect to see your waiter once or twice during the meal, just often enough to keep the drinks from staying empty. At Kaminari, I was utterly impressed by how attentive the wait-staff was. Not only did my drink never get less than a quarter full, they brought my plate to me from the hibachi. This unexpected surprise is more than enough to keep me going and enjoying their myriad of tasty vittles. Overall, given their relatively inexpensive price($ 12.99 on a Saturday night) and wonderful selection, it is definitely worth spending a meal enjoying this unexpected treat.

Worst sushi in the area. Try Koi around the corner for actual freshly prepared sushi, not some buffet

If I could give KamiNari no stars, I would. This is a horrible joke. $ 14.16 per person this evening. For a fucking buffet. A shitty buffet at that. I’ll start with the grill feature. A buffet of raw meats and vegetables is set about before you. You assemble a pile of all of the shit you want and you bring that pile to the chef to cook. She throws it on a grill and sprinkles some soy sauce on it. That is it. The meat is all third-grade(but edible). The vegetables are wilted and rotten. The«sushi» on display is made from the real sushi restaurants’ left-overs. DONOTEATTHESUSHI WEALLWEREPOISONEDBYTHEFOOD. I have put in a formal complaint with the city’s health inspector for this issue. This place is a fuck hole of decadence.

Talking about serendipity, I wouldn’t have dove into this place had I not wander aimlessly looking for a spot to park my car. Initially, we(well more like I) wanted to eat at Louie’s Café near LSU because I had the urge for some serious Louie’s cajun hashbrowns(sausage & cheese — the kind that would send a cardiologist into a cardiac arrest). But since I couldn’t find a spot to park my «Pinto» I had to wander aimlessly across the street to find one. Well lo and behold, there it was, a sushi bar had just opened up(I knew because the banner hanging outside said so). Surprisingly, it was packed and I noticed a sign outside the door and it said«sushi & hibachi buffet» for $ 8.99. OMG! Was I dreaming? Sushi, hibachi, and BUFFET all in the same sentence? Overwhelmed by what I saw, I felt this enormous feeling like I was having one of those«When Harry Met Sally» orgasmic moment inside Katz’s Delicatessen. I’m not a huge fan of sushi or buffet(quality issue), but being fiscally challenged it’s welcoming to my wallet and it’s always good to know you can get more for Les(catchy!). But I’m a firm believer of «don’t knock it until you try it» philosophy. BTW, how bad can it be, beside food poisoning and making out with your«porcelain throne». The sushi here are exceptionally fresh and well crafted. There are three sushi chefs at the buffet station consistently dishing out rolls after rolls of sushi just to keep up with the hungry crowds. I know what you’re thinking, «BUFFET, seriously?» I say to you, yes. This place is for real! The presentation of the sushi is aesthetically delightful, the ingredients are as fresh as can be, and the taste is gastronomically INSANE! If this doesn’t give you FOOD-GASM, my friend you need some serious HRT. Can I get an «Amen»? But don’t take my words for it, try it yourself. And if you happen to experience FOOD-GASM while you’re there, just keep it down will ya, grandma next door might just say, «I’ll have what she’s having». p. s. Look for me next time you’re there. I’m the one talking to the owner who is trying to kick me out saying, «you eat too much, me make no money out of you, you have far exceeded your daily caloric intake»
